Hello all! I'm planning to do the Disney Princess Half Marathon too. I just completed my 1st run of week 2 of c25k. I've walked a 5k before and am doing another this weekend (Doggy Dash Sacramento 2010.) I've always wanted to do this half marathon, but never thought I could do it. After a while I decided that the only thing holding me back was being afraid that I couldn't do it. So, here we go! See all of you there! Wear your LGMHs!

Thanks for all the info! :goodvibes Does anyone remember off the top of their head which DVC hotels were part of the group in 2010? TIA!
It was SSR for sure. I *think* OKW too.

aedensmom - Anything goes that time of year. 2 years ago, the first week of March was 80s and sunny. I have been there when it's 60s/70s and rainy, though. Just never really know. :confused3 I think it's typically on teh warmer side, though.

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to say that me and my college roommate will see you at the race! We're going to be staying at SSR. We're planning on training at our rec center all year, and I'm running the full marathon with my dad, so I'm beginning to start training for that today! Last year's Princess was my first 1/2 ever and I was VERY sore, so hopefully more training will help!!

I just graduated from high school last weekend. My grad gift? A trip to the Princess half. I'm so excited!! :) :cheer2:

What an excellent gift!
Good luck with your training. Once you train for the marathon the 1/2 will be a piece of cake for you.

What a wonderful gift, and how cool to be running a marathon with your Dad.:)

Not sure if the race hotels will end up being the same, but here is the list from this year:
Disney's All-Star Sports Resort
Disney's All-Star Movies Resort
Disney's All-Star Music Resort
Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort
Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort
Disney's Old Key West Resort
Disney's Polynesian Resort

Thanks everybody! I can't wait to see all of you in February :)

I ran the Minnie 15k and the 2010 Princess Half with my dad as well. It sounds kind of silly since those were mostly girls' races, but it was a lot of fun!

I successfully began my full marathon training today... and, yes, I am excited for the Princess because it'll be much easier after completing the full!

Just wanted to post to make it official that I'll run my first half marathon with all of you. :woohoo:

Now that I've put it in writing there is no turning back!

Unfortunately, it IS peak season for those of us from the northeast. Flight prices for us will be off the charts. It's the last weekend of the school February break - which also causes some issues if we wanted to decompress after the race - , instead of racing to the airport to fly back home in time for school the next day. Groan. :confused3

Well, there is always the following year! I don't think that this race will be discontinued anytime soon! :)

anyone have any idea about how much prices are increasing for 2011. A friend was on the boards and heard talk from people in europe about the prices going up 40%. Is this possible. or was she misinformed. I am getting nervous. I dont want to have to cancel on my goal because of the trip being too expensive. That would be devastating.

What prices? Tickets? Or race fees? They just raised ticket prices last summer so I don't believe they would raise them again. Usually, they only do it every few years so I think for now, the prices will not change. There are special discounts on tickets for racegoers. Also, keep an eye on the coupon codes that other DIS members post.

no I was referring to vacation packages, resorts, tickets, etc. as far as the prices. I thought it sounded pretty crazy but my friend was so convincing that I started to think that it was true. Glad to get your opinion it does make alot more sense. Thanks.

Actually, they have raised park ticket prices every August for the past several years. At least since I started paying attention in 2007. I can't remember exactly what the price increase was, but it definitely wasn't 40%

Obviously with just about anything these days it goes up early. I was expecting that but not 40%. Thanks for your input. I guess I will just have to wait and see. I just was a little paniced about the 40% thing.

Iger did say that they would be cutting back on the big discounts that they have been offering. That might reflect a 40% "increase." We've already seen the offers change. Last year I was able to stay at All Star Movies during free dining and we got the regular dining package (1 counter service, 1 table service and 1 snack). Now if you stay at a value resort you get the quick service dining during free dining. Who know how future packages will be like?

Is it too late to join? I have started training and am hoping to run the princess 1/2 marathon. I'm also hoping that my sister and 2 of my sister-in-laws will join me. My mom has commited to cheering us on. We already have a reservation for BCV. So excited!!!

I know rumors abound about all things Disney, but my sis-in-law was telling me that the princess half marathon registration would fill up in an hour after it opened. Is this true?:scared1:

I think that's highly, highly unlikely. Registration is usually open for months before hitting 50% capacity for many Disney races.

Never heard of that happening with any Disney race. Some fill faster than others, but you usually have several months to register without a problem. I think the most popular is the Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon. So, you should have plenty of time. :) It isn't a cheap race and most of us aren't local so I think that combination of expenses forces a lot of people to wait until they are 100% sure that they will participate.

Thanks! That's what I thought. I wanted to make sure just in case I needed to be on-line at exactly 6 months out like a CRT reservation.:)

With the way the race has grown I would not be suprised if this race closes at the 6month mark. It has grown in popularity and is expected to be larger this year too.

My guess is after the Food N WINE it will be closed, due to people running this race and going home and signing up for this half. After running the Princess, I can honestly say I would have come home and signed up for EVERY disney race.

It is truly is an empowering event, for anyone who has this as their goal!
