Popcorn Bucket - Refills

The only place that doesn’t do refills is Galaxy’s Edge, the specialty popcorn.

I just refilled my old popcorn bucket at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios (Hyperion Popcorn) this week for $2.25. Where exactly did they charge you $2.33?
First time was at Typhoon Lagoon shortly after they reopened for the season. Since then I have also paid that price at Epcot (by Creations), AK (near It's Tough to be a Bug entrance), and Ice Cold Hydraulics at HS.

A few visits ago, my wife asked and they refilled her bucket with specialty popcorn at Galaxy's Edge, but they let her know it was regular price and not refill price to do it (so technically not a refill).

She went ahead and got it because she would have transferred it to her popcorn bucket anyway and we think that maybe she got a slightly larger serving in the bucket than it would have been (although not sure about that... all the buckets may be designed to hold the same amount as a regular order of popcorn).

I have no idea if that was standard practice or pixie dust, or even if they'll still do it.

I just like to get the regular popcorn so this is worth it since I can use the bucket during my stay! I have a little clip so I can clip it to my backpack.

Last week, I got a popcorn bucket refill at The Feeding Ground in Animal Kingdom. They charged me $2.33. It turns out the difference in pricing is the county tax. So, any place you buy a popcorn refill in Osceola Co. will be $2.33. All other places in Orange Co. will be $2.25.

I had no idea you could bring a bucket back from a previous trip and get it refilled!!! I have a stack of a dozen buckets in my kitchen... keeps popcorn really fresh if you dont eat all of it at one sitting.

Also, that maple popcorn goes great with a whiskey drink back in my BCV room as a nightcap.

Wow- I had no idea. Now do I bring my standard bucket from 2018 or fly my 2019 Oogie Boogie across the country… the standard probably holds more popcorn but Oogie has a strap and is, well, Oogie Boogie.

Quite a few years ago I bought one at the water park. I tried to refill it at MK and the cm said she couldn't because it was an old bucket. I told her I bought it the day prior and she said it is not possible because it was an old design/bucket. She basically called me a liar. I reiterated I bought it the day prior and if there was a way to bring up receipts on mde let me know and I would show her. Again the cm.said it was old and no way did I just buy it. She then said she would fill it as a one time courtesy. It was such an awful encounter and I was afraid every time I got my bucket filled. I really should have asked for a supervisor or went to GS. I was just horrified and embarrassing that I was basically being called a liar and accused of trying to scam them while a line formed behind me. After that experience I would never bring an old bucket, but I understand my experience isn't the norm.

I am a popcorn lover. I try to always have my annual pass holder bucket with me in the parks (say hi if you see me!) and I get at least one refill a day, tbh. The best popcorn stands on property:
  • Cool Ship in Tomorrowland
    • Close second in MK: the stand in front of Pecos Bill's
  • The popcorn stand in front of the Brown Derby in Hollywood Studios
  • Maple Popcorn in Canadian Pavilion Epcot
    • I don't get butter-flavored popcorn in Epcot. What's the best butter-flavored stand?
  • I do not get popcorn in Animal Kingdom, but one of the few stands that sells fresh popcorn is near the entrance of the Africa section.
These stands have the consistently best tasting and freshest popcorn I have tried. All popcorn is good but this is just a step above.

Try it on your next trip and let me know your thoughts!

(and yes I have personally never been told that my AP bucket is too old to be filled)

How do you rate the one by City Hall?

We think it is pretty good and always grab a refill when heading back to the resort to swim.

Also we have a caribeaner that we hook to the top of our park if it is full with hoodies or Merch.

On another note Please Disney Please bring back packages delivered to your resort/front of the resort Park!!!

We have bought several buckets, but never tried to refill. Last trip, because we are cheap, we bought microwave popcorn for our dvc room and popped a bag before leaving. But if we could refill…….we just don’t buy enough to justify getting a new bucket plus bunches of refills.

I have never gotten fresh popcorn from the city hall stand. Maybe I’ve just visited it at bad times. I’ve actually seen them pour popcorn from a trash bag into the machine at that stand before.

Omg this is such a genius idea!!!! You should write to Disney!!! I always end up packing mine with stuff to utilize the space in luggage. LOVE the idea of collapsible!
In my perfect world, Disney would make a collapsible popcorn bucket. I pack one each trip but end up leaving it in the room most days as I don’t want to carry it or have it take up real estate in my backpack.

Wow. It always seems to be ok for DS. I know movie theaters will do that but never imagined Disney doing that let alone near the entrance!!

We might get it elsewhere next time thanks for the tip.

Do you have an owners locker? We leave a few in there.

No. No issues bringing one back, just never tried to use them for multi year trips. I thought it was like mugs, only good for a few weeks/ season. Like a Christmas bucket would be turned down in July.

I have gotten consistently good popcorn from Cool Ship - give it a try and let me know how it compares!
