Offical free dining watch 2008

So there needs to be a new reservation done to get the new dining??? Does it have to be done in a different resort or can it be the exact same resv. that i have.. i wasn't aware that i had to cancel it and make a new one.
not at all ... your ressies are good no matter dining plan or not... that's all about payment which will be handled at time by using your credits

Yes, if you want free dining you will have to call and make a new reservation. They may have what you want available, but they may not. There is only a limited amount of rooms at each resort that is for free dining. Some people have had to change resorts, some have had to go standard from preferred, and some have gone preferred from standard. If what you have booked is available for free dining, and you have a nice CM, they may just alter your reservation, but for the most part you are supposed to make a new reservation and cancel the old. There is no benefit to book early for free dining. Only if you are going no matter what and want to have your room. But if you are booking early in hopes of free dining it is kind of a waste of time.

FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING THE FDP WILL BE ANNOUNCED TO DISNEY VISA CARD HOLDERS ON 4/7/08. ASSUMING THIS IS TRUE, HERE IS MY QUESTION:

I BOOKED MY TRIP THRU AAA AND PAID FOR IT WITH MY DISNEY VISA CARD. WHO DO I CALL TO HAVE THE FDP ADDED ON TO MY TRIP.

DO I CALL DISNEY DIRECT OR DO I GO THRU AAA???

I WOULD THINK AAA BUT JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE.

:worship: FREE DINING :worship:

Free Dining doesn't qualify with the AAA discount.

Its an either or type deal. Only one discount per vacation.

AAA

You can call your AAA Agent, they can make the change for you. Otherwise if you call Disney Directly, you will have to call your AAA Agent and cancel your first ressie with them. To apply the code you will be booking a new reservation.

FWIW... The CM I talked to today was optimistic that Free Dining will be coming in April. Admittedly few people know for sure, but it made me feel good hearing it from the horse's mouth.

Also as a side not to the person hoping for Sept. 14th to get here... don't be so anxious that's the big 3-0 birthday for me. I'll be old officially on that day. LOL

My trip last Sept was book through AAA. All I did was call my agent a few days before the rumored release of the promo. She said she had heard the rumor. I told her I wanted the free dining. She changed everything for me and sent me a confirmation email. As far as getting an AAA rate and the FDD, I don't know. I just know I added 2 days to my trip and was still about $200 under what a 4 day trip with paid dining would have cost us. :thumbsup2

Mine is Saturday.
Maybe we can use a seniors discount if free dining does not pan out.:)

Just wanted to let everyone know that the guy from the website that posted "rumored dates" of August 30 - September 27 has admitted that they are an educated guess only on his part. If I had a dollar for every educated guess someone has made about the free DDP. . .

You wouldn't need to worry about the savings from Free Dining?:lmao:

Last year we had 2 different ressies(2 different rooms-Grand Gathering), one was a family suite the other was preferred. We called at different times and spoke to 2 different people and all they did was "adjust" our account to reflect the free dining. Our reservation numbers were the same.

They didn't cancel and re-book anything. At least that's the impression I got. The only thing that we had to change was giving up the family suite we had. (It worked out cuz we ended up getting upgraded back to it when we arrived).

yes all they do is add it to your package in most cases..no need to rebook unless your changing dates or resots

We currently have reservations for August 10-19 with the 40% off room code. If they offer free dining in late August or early September, we will probalby change our reservations to accomodate the free dining. I realize we will lose our room discount, but overall it will same us about $500. :)

Last year, we had a room booked at AsMo before the rumors of fd even started.... when I knew about FD, I contacted my TA and let her know that I wanted to change from paid dining to free dining when it became available. Soo on the day of the release, I sat at my computer reading all the posts and checking my email for my TA to get ahold of me. I rejoiced with everyone as they got what they wanted, but secretly feared for myself!!! After about 2 1\2 hours I got an email stating that there were no available rooms at Asmo but there was an opening at Pop if I wanted it. I immediately emailed her back and said YES I WANT IT!!!This year, we were so excited to be going, we booked in FEB! 2 rooms at POP (we really liked POP last year) and my friends are taking their first trip and booked a room at the same resort.... so this year we have 3 rooms to get FD for, but hope to be able to stay at same resort!
