The Barry Manilow as a guest judge rumor is a FACT. He'll be on April 20-21, as a matter of fact. :teeth: :teeth:

COOL! (Barry Manilow news!)

However, I'm kinda surprised he's not doing "big band." Wonder who is (if anyone) AND wonder what the style will be for him.

Loved Barry Manilow's comment on his Christmas Live By Request Special when he said something like, "Hello. Yes. You are looking at Clay Aiken in 30 years.":)

I wouldn't be surprised if they had the kids all sing Barry Manilow songs. Last year they had Neil Sedaka week. I remember thinking..."Oh, yuck. Neil Sedaka?" But it was actually a pretty good week.

More cool Barry Manilow news (well, cool to me, anyway) - his next album is due out this Tuesday - called "2 Nights Live" and was recorded right here in Joisey (listen, you'll probably hear me screaming) ;)

I have a feeling Barry would rather judge the big band week than his own music... :)

I think you're right. Right after I posted that I went to look up his music so I would remember some of the songs, and there's not too much to work with. Aside from a few classics, I think it would be BOORRINGGGG...
However, I did come up with the following:
Copacabana- Diana DeGarmo
Band Stand Boogie- JPL
I write the songs- John Stevens
Can't smile without you- George Huff
:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I remember Kelly did very well in the Big Band night. She even looked the part. If I remember correctly, it was that night that she stood out as a real contender to win. And she did!

Those are perfect choices for Diana, JPL, John, and George! :D

"called "2 Nights Live" and was recorded right here in Joisey "

Hey was that a concert at the PNC??? We heard that they were taping for a live album when we there, but didn't believe it. I was there too!!!

::yes:: The show was recorded each night at PNC.

And whoever said Barry's music was boring - :p :p :p :p Barry has plenty of his own music in big band style - you'd have to actually know more than just the Top 40 songs to hear them, though. And Westlife just recently went to #1 in the UK doing a cover of Mandy...

I could see George singing This One's For You...LaToya with Even Now...JPL doing Jump Shout Boogie WOULD be good...I think Jasmine would probably be a wonderful choice to sing I Am Your Child...Fantasia could do It's a Miracle...Diana doing Daybreak or Copacabana would be cute...John could do All the Time...Jennifer could do Could It Be Magic...and I don't even want to picture Camile still there, so I won't even bother to pick a song for her.

Just wanted to add that www.idolonfox.com has them singing Elton John's songs this coming week. Should be cool! :bounce:

Here are some suggestions for songs for each contestant to sing. These come from my one friend who is truly addicted to AI

JPL--- Philadelphia Freedom

John S--- Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds or Pinball Wizard

Camile--- Daniel or Levon

Fantasia - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

Latoya - Candle In The Wind

Diana - Crocodile Rock

George - That's Why They Call It The Blues

Jasmine - Can You Feel The Love Tonight

Jennifer - Good-bye Yellow Brick Road

JPL, John S and Camile really do need to step it up. I know they have a strong fan base, but if they don't improve this week they need to go. Jennifer is another one sitting on the edge.

I love Elton John's songs so I hope that most of them can perform the music the way it is to be sung. The ruined Motown music if they do the same to Elton John's music, as an artist I would start to request AI not to use my music as just to painful to watch.

How did we get from Big Band music to Elton John songs? Are they doing Elton John at some point?

According to the idolonfox.com website Elton John songs are this week, not Big Band.

Don't you think it would be better for Fantasia to sing The "B" is Back? Sorry, please don't strike me from the boards forever!!!

Yes, it looks like the theme got changed to Elton John. I wonder why?
