Well, try working at Disney during Black Friday, let alone any holiday!! And you thought the malls were bad! Ha!

The foam fire extinguisher worked great on the yams! People just wondered why the marshmallow topping wasn't as sweet as they were used to.

When did the Black Friday sales online become such a push and shove match?! I started shopping for DS earlier. I would add things to the cart, get to checkout and they've been stolen from my cart and are now unavailable?! Of course, this all did not stop my mom and I from heading to WalMart to buy $350 of Christmas decorations to go along with my 8-foot inflatable Santa Mickey......retail therapy does a girl good ;)

Well, Mickey has now invited a friend over.....I have an 8 foot tall Pooh on a hunny pot in my yard along with two rows of candles and a reindeer that is all lights. Maybe I should start charging for people to ride around my driveway :rotfl:

I have been in retail for over 20 years (glutton for punishment) and have worked in almost every mall in the SF Bay Area. I now work in a Body Shop in my neighborhood, street store, no mall. I actually missed the fun of Black Friday and was disappointed at how slow we were...no one needs lotion that bad I guess! The best times were when I managed a Disney Store and folks would line up at 4 am to get a Pooh beanie toy...good times!

Well, I guess no one cares what I do with my hair :(

I will just have to decide on my own I guess. I have been forsaken by my DIS family! (*cries*)

New stuff at WDW

Stayed the weekend and noticed some things I hadn't taken notice to.

1. POR---new tables, chairs, and lounge chairs at the Theme pool. These were much more comfortable!

2. New character greeting area at Epcot called Character Greeting Connection. It's located across from the fountain and beside the new Ice Station Cool.

3. New chairs at Pecos Bill's. These aren't chairs, but stools. They were very uncomfortable and very easy for small children to fall off. Big thumbs down from me.

4. We noticed alot more characters at Epcot. Probably just for the holiday.

5. The food and wine festival booths are still up. They are decorated for Christmas. The food inside them has changed. Didn't read all the menus, but one of them had cheesesteak sandwhiches and another had BBQ sandwhich.

6. On Sunday, there was a significant decline of attendance. The parking lot at Epcot was only half full when we left the park around 3pm.

LOL!! My Mickey has some friends too. I have opted against another inflatable - instead I have a family of deer. I was a very good girl at WalMart - I did not let them just load up my cart this time.

Why do they always load my cart? I think there are subliminal messages sent through the music in WalMart - that is why I wore earplugs yesterday. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Miakoda,

I care about your hair! I have always wanted to buzz mine, but have never had the courage. Last summer I had my hairdresser use the razor on the back of my head, down to a three! But I didn't have the guts to go for the Natalie Portman look! I have also always wanted to go white-blonde, like Annie Lennox. I am afraid to do that also.

So my advice to you is this (so I can live vicariously through you): Dye it blonde and lop it off! Woot! Post pics so we can see...

i know some strange people

i wait outside for a 229 bus to get home adn some others do as well
the strange part is they get off the next stop which is about a 3 min walk maximum but instead they wait for more then 5 min for a bus

also our car broke down so i missed about an hour of school yahoo :)

and my grandad isn't feeling well and had to go to hospital today :(

Thank you! Finally, a response! I am thinking that I will go to work (today I hope...they are still waiting for my background check  before I can start...or else I cannot start until the 19th!) That would majorly suck b/c I would not have a paycheck before Christmas :( Anyway, I think I will start with the hair I have now and then just show up one day with it short and blonde to see if anyone notices/recognizes me in class. I have considered going "boy short" but do not have the guts. The hair in the blond pic is the shortest I have the guts to go.

And those of you talking about Christmas decorations in your yard: I can't do that since I live in an apartment, but I saw the coolest thing in my fiance's parents' neighbor's yard on Thanksgiving. It was a huge inflatable, clear ball with a snow man inside and air that blew fake snow around so it looked like a huge snowglobe! We took a walk to go see it up close, and the daughter came out in the yard. She said it cost like $140 at Walmart. Not a bad price for how cool it was! If I had a yard I would get one. I hate tacky decorations but that one was just too cool not to buy. Anyone ever seen one of those?

~Mia~

P.S. EDIT: Just got the call, background check in, so I'm starting work today! 6pm to 3am M-F until training is over (2-3 weeks), then after training who knows what days I will have off. So on workdays you will only see me on vmk between about 1pm and 5pm :( However, rest assured that on my days off i will be prowling vmk in the evenings until closing as usual!

I'm not so sure that it is WalMart making us put things in our carts....I'm starting to think things just "jump in". This also happens at the grocery store. (espescially when I bring the men folk rofl)

why do you think most men folk hate to shop we never get what is on our list

men folk make shopping lists? Lol, just speaking for the men folk in my family.

Mia, have I ever mentioned to you how much I love your avatar? :teeth:

A bit of advice about your hair: Don't let Strong Bad practice his "barbzardry" on you. You may wind up with lighting bolts or big bushy eyebrows or one of those weird "sweetiecakes" characters.

Did you get any of their DVDs yet?

LOL! I don't have the toon dvd....but I bought my fiance the DVD set of the first 100 SBemails either last Christmas or for his birthday, I don't remember. Probably his birthday since I don't think it was out a year ago. I don't know if I want to get the other one or not....it depends on how much extra stuff there is. I mean, I can just watch them on the site for free....

I added this after I made this post: I don't know why, maybe b/c I am so tired and I like to proofread my posts and make sure the spelling and grammar are perfect, but it took me like half an hour to post this so please take the time to read :)

In other news:

I just got back from my first day of training at work and it was SO BORING. I am a web support agent for Home Depot, I will be doing customer service for the site, answering product questions, etc. Our trainer is a MORON and cannot answer a simple question to save his life. He just talks about something that has nothing to do with the question for like 10 minutes. For instance, this was a question of mine, that I asked because the trainer mentioned that we needed product knowledge, and I thought the job was just answering questions about the website itself:
"When I got out of my interview and was offered the job, I sent in a a test email to Home Depot web support with a random question just to see how they responded, to get an idea of what kind of emails we will be sending, and how knowledgeable we have to be about the different products and services. I asked about the X product just to see if they answered my question or referred me somewhere else. They referred me to the product dept., so does that mean we do not have to have any product knowledge?"

Clear right? (at least somewhat?)

Well his answer consisted of spending 5 minutes at least explaing product X to me. I told him TWICE I did not care about the product, it was just what I asked about in the test email to get an idea of our job duties. He continued to explain product X until about 5 of my classmates were giggling. He never actually answered my question, I gave up after staring blankly at him while he explained the product to me and then acted like he answered my question so he would shut up.

Later, during our break, I ask my classmates if they were laughing at me because my question was stupid , or because the trainer did not understand what I was trying to ask. (I was sleep deprived and on pain meds so I wasn't too capable of explaining things clearly...not to mention I get nervous talking in front of a lot of people who are looking at me....so I was not really sure if I worded my question in a way that made sense, so I was not sure, right?). They said that they all understood what I meant, and that they were laughing at the trainer because he was obviously dumb as a brick, as proven by his answer. At least my classmates are cool...there are 14 of us and by lunch break (or whatever...lunch...at 10pm) we were all friends :) We literally spent the first half of the day playing a "get to know you" game where you get slips of paper and have to find who has your match, and interview them, then introduce them to the class (btw, funny thing is the guy I was paired up with was also in my training class of my last job! Weird, huh?) The "game" lasted a few hours b/c in telling about ourselves and each other, it sparked conversations, debates, and just general chatter about nothing to do with our job and the trainer did nothing to get us back on track. He just sat there like a lump (and kept turning around to look at the blank wall behind him like he thought there was a clock there or something). It's like he does not even want to do the job. Also, he is super creepy: I don't know if it's because I was sitting directly across from him, or because I was asking most of the questions but it seemed about 90% of the time he talked he was staring at me. Not even looking around at the rest of the people, except when I felt weird and looked away for a while.

It's nice to be out of my apartment and interacting with real people again (not that I don't love you guys...by real people I mean face to face!) I went to lunch with two very cool people, a younger girl and a really funny and cute gay guy (I dunno why, but I just LOVE gay guys...they make the best friends :)). I don't think I have ever known one single gay man who was not funny as heck and extremely sarcastic....I love sarcastic ppl like myself....and of course cute as all get out. Why are the cute ones always gay? Not that I care, I am deeply in love with my man but I'm just saying. The thread is for rambling, right?

I was so tired the last half of class that I wanted to die. I had to actually stand up in class to stay awake and still almost dozed off against the wall twice

OK time for a posting faux pas (i.e., reply to self), because I'm up before 5am and am bored. I doubt anybody cares, but here's an update on:
JeanJoe said:
- "What should I use to chisel this off the oven? What else should I do?"
- (reply: "We could try to burn it off.")
Shortly thereafter:
- "I guess all the smoke alarms in the house still work."
- (to DD3yo) "Don't worry, the house is not going to burn down. Put your jacket on while the smoke clears."
Airing out the house dropped the inside temperature to ~40 degrees F, and the we spent much of the morning waddling around the living room in parkas. However, miracle of miracles, the rest of the meal went great. We had a beautifully juicy and tender turkey (after we scraped off the fire extinguisher foam, jk jk!), cranberry-orange relish, potato casserole, candied yams, corn, bottle of wine, etc. etc. I thought we were all over the initial, uh, "difficult" start.

Ah, but apparently some scars never heal.

Overheard from dd3yo to mom, at bedtime, days later:
- "Mommy, what should I do if the alarm goes off?"
- "The smoke alarm?"
- "Yes, the scary smoke alarm."
- "Oh, don't worry, mommy is not going to cook tonight, so there shouldn't be any more smoke."
- "But... But... aren't you going to make my lunch for tomorrow?" (which is usually something like PB&J, or left-overs put into Tupperwares)
- "Well, yes. But that's not really cooking. There won't be any smoke."
- "No. No! NO! Don't make lunch! I don't want the alarm to go off!"

Oh well. Guess we are now forbidden to cook at home. Guess we'll have to order out for pizza until dd3yo gets over her "issues." (Speaking of which, she still has the fear of the Number 8).

(Yeah, yeah -- proper response to DD3yo's initial question would be some lecture about not hiding in closets or under beds, calling for help, feeling doorknobs before opening doors, commando crawl under the billowing smoke, not leaping out of windows, stop-drop-and-roll, etc etc. But somehow, I thought that would not defuse the Smoke Alarm Incident.)

Wow, I ramble. Perhaps before 5am is meant for sleep, and not posting.

You poor girl!!! Most trainers (in my experience) are dumber than a box of rocks, if that is even possible. The best thing out of work - will be your co-workers. They will help you get that reality check. It seems that you have a nice crew you are starting with. Good Luck with your job. More on's (vmk speak) always make your day fun. lol

YAY!!!! Christmas time has offcially begun in my household! Santa Claus: The Movie is on Family channel right NOW! If you have not seen this adorable movie, I strongly suggest you tune in to it :)

My sis and I grew up with this movie. We even had the record and we would put it on and dance around the livingroom. Mom would have just the Christmas tree lights on and some candles and the fire...and my sis and I would dance and make up our own routine to the soundtrack....talk about bringing back memories!! :goodvibes

But yes, PLEASE watch this movie...it has so much Christmas spirit in it :)

I heart you Santa!
