DD#2 finally had her first word yesterday, and it's...

"DA DA"! :cool1:

Crawled up to a picture of me, pointed at it, and said "da da". Jean tried to bring her attention to a picture of her and said "mama", but DD#2 crawled right back to first one, pointed to me again, and said "Da da."

Poor mom. 9 months of torture, waddling around with back-aches and swollen legs, delivering the beast, followed by endless nights of waking up and feeding her (sorry, I didn't have the appropriate equipment for that job), and what does she get? "Da da."

:confused3 :rotfl:

(DD#1's first word was "bubble.")

Congratulations Be! How sweet! Bet mom was jealous. Da Da....awwwww. Those are the best days!

Oh Be! I know you are really proud about this (secretly of course since you don't want your wife to know HOW much you are enjoying this) ;).

This makes me remember my first word....K-Mart :rotfl:

Which reminds me, mainstreetlad / Mom2RinJen --

How's that extra special make-up job your kid gave you? Are you _sure_ you don't want to share pictures? After all, MTLott was so kind to share his haircut pictures :)

( Oh wait, MTLott didn't share those pictures; PeachyT did. )

So, uhhh, Mom2RinJen, what's your DH's email? ;)

As a woman without children yet, I am just wondering how some of you mothers feel about your children saying, "da, da" first.

I know the whole thing about da da is easier linquistically for children but as a woman I think this would bother me.

What say you mothers, deep down inside does it or did it bother you? Did you try to "help" your child/children to say mama instead of da da?

Very cool, Be! Of course, now that she said your name, you are going to be the go-to parent....DaDa will be Mr. VIP :goodvibes

I tried getting DS to say a ton of words, but MaMa just came out first. It took him a while before he was ready to talk, but once he said Mama, the words just didn't stop...still going on 6 years and not a silent day yet :rotfl2:

My friend and her husband both campaigned heavily to get their daughter to say Mama or DaDa first, but when she finally spoke, her first word was Puppy! (they have 2 American Eskies)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
After that I believe DaDa did win out next!

Nothing so sweet as hearing your child say MaMa or DaDa for the first time.
Of course, I have been chanting MaMa at DS for weeks.(nothing yet!)
(DD's sounded like PaPa and she called everyone and everything that
:goodvibes )

OK, I'm sitting here printing off some new worksheets for the school year from a website I belong to.

They are pirate themed.

So I start humming..."Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me."

I think I am addicted to Disney! LOL!

im doing a puzzle on neopets

it is hard

Is Neopets still around?!

They just announced on TV that Peter Jennings died! :(

No more singing of my song about him. *sad*

You know a song about Peter Jennings too? :earseek:

Oh Be, my make over turned out lovely! seven of my toenails are now painted green as well as the toes surrounding them. Mental note to self, do not wear sandals to work today. LOL My face looked as if I was baking in the sun for about 3 days straight and it took me numerous scrubs to get it all off. :earseek: They were quite pleased with themselves though. They are already planning on going to Hollywood to be make up girls to the stars. Unless someone is planning on making a movie about Lobster Girl I don't think they will get a job. LOL And absolutely NO PICS! I might want to run for president one day. :rotfl2:

yes they did. But they couldn't do much except wet it and plaster it to my red face. LOL It looked a bit Alfalfa like.

LOL! The last time my youngest did my hair, I had little braids all over the place. They stuck up everywhere! :rotfl:

Here's a ramble. Why does it take so long for the hot water to move up the pipes and come out of the shower head? And why am I always running late Monday mornings and jump in the shower without checking the water first? Brrrrrrrrr! Im awake now :cold:

LOL, I sure know how that is... Our master bath is on the 3rd floor, with the hot water heater in the basement. In the winters it can make for a chilly start...

But your ramble reminded me of my high school dorms. We would wait till an unsuspecting person was in the shower, and then 6 of us would flush every toilet in the bathroom simultaneously. Yep -- instant scalding hot water, yells echoing through the dorm, followed by threats of violent retribution.

I still have the ingrained reflex to jump out from under the shower if I think I hear the beginnings of a flush.
