i had a fun day today
i went up to the lark in the park (church thing in the park), made some pottery, played on the dance mats, had a bomb scare, bought an ice cream, watched cricket, etc.

it was a fun fun day

Maybe we could do group desensitization. You know, start off slow like a post with:

- "Hi! I'm new to the DIS and I'm glad to meet you all" (of course you could get flamed for posting the hi in the wrong forum)
- OK, safer: first post in the "Like it, hate it, NTI" thread. Never been flamed there, even when I told then I didn't like coconut ice cream!
- Then move on to "So who else likes Johnny Depp?" Seems safe.
- Then, when you are feeling bolder, try a "My Other said my butt looks big!" That should generate excellent discussion.

At this point, our skins should be thickened. It is time for the final exam posts. It's time for:
- "Liberals / conservatives (take your pick) are so stupid because..."

Or, perhaps scan down the old topic lists, find a topic with that cute little LOCK symbol on it, and then restart the thread by paraphrasing the gist of it. For optimum effect, PM the major contributors of the previous thread and tell them they're dumb, and show them the link to the new thread.

Hey, Joe, you forgot about my post about me visiting Disney Princesses and is it appropriate in the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies.

In an unrelated note, I had a date Friday night. I haven't had one of those in six years. I had a great time with my companion, and I hope to do it again.

That's all I'll divulge at this time, but I can tell you I was very happy afterwards.

That is one thing I miss about being married. The dates. DAtes used to be so much fun! The butterflies that led up to the date. Getting myself ready and then either getting picked up or meeting that person out. Making small talk until both of you have found a comfort zone. Going trough dinner wondering if you had anything in your teeth . And then anticipating that good night walk to the door, and then the kiss

Believe me, Tishke, I'd love to give the details of my evening out. Problem is that it's common knowledge that people who talk about their job and the people there have a tendency not to have a job, and I can't risk my boss reading the DIS boards and finding out the details of my evening out.

I don't know if it is the fact that I have another weekend off (unheard of in the retail field) and it is summertime, or the talk that my family is having a bar-b-que at their house....But I sure do feel like some barbque chicken!!!

I mean, let it be slathered with sauce and push it up under the skin to get the meat nice and tasty! And also for mine, I like it a little burnt with extra sauce on the outside of the burnt areas.

Grilling used to be my fave thing to do with my dad. He taught me everything I know (like most other things in life). I would be standing there at 4 yrs old and holding the pan to put the done chicken into, knowing then I was such a big girl for helpping daddy . In fact, I think I have a pic around somewhere and if I find it I will post (if you all don't mind). Mom always stayed in the house making deviled eggs and potato salad (german style MMM MMM MMM!!!).

I love childhood memories

Getting married does not mean the end for some of this. My wife and I still go out on dates (with each other, of course!!). Now that DD has grown and such, even easier. It's the little things that keep the spark going!

Me three...I totally agree with this statement. I was in no way looking for a guy, in fact, I had pretty much discounted the lot of them as rotten cheating soundrels (sorry boys) when I met DH. I knew that we were meant to be, corny as it sounds, from the minute I met him.

The minute you stop looking, you will find your guy....the minute you get married/engaged every guy starts to notice you. Funny how it happens that way.
