Good morning all! I think I read on these boards (a long time ago) a remedy for pressure problems on airplanes. It was something like getting paper cups and putting hot water into them, then holding on the ear to help relieve the discomfort, does anyone out there knowwhat I am talking about?? If so, please let me know how I am supposed to do it. I have an awful migraine from pressure dropping outside, and thought I would give it a try!!! I figured, can't hurt, might help! Thank you in advance!! :headache:

Normally you would do it with paper coffee cups, but any small non-handled cup or glass will do, so long as you can handle the bottom of it if it is hot.

You put a couple of paper napkins or paper towels in the bottom of two cups, then pour a small bit of boiling water in. Tilt the cups first to make sure that none of the water will dribble out, then place them over your ears like muffs. The heat of the water will help to equalize the pressure in your ears and should ease the pain.

Good luck with the headache; I hope it helps.

Thank you for the info!! I really appreciate it! It helped with my ear pain, but not the headache. At least I don't feel like someone iss stabbing me in the ears anymore!!! :cool1:

Go to Walgreen's, CVS or whatever is in your area and get Earplanes. They are little silicon earplugs that have a ceramic filter in them. You put them in your ears before takeoff and again about an hour before landing. They slowly equalize the pressure thus no ear pain. My daughter has a hard time with the pressure changes and they work great for her.

Thanks for the info! I use earplanes when I fly. I guess I should have been clearer, I did not fly, we just had a pressure front move through the area which triggered a migraine and I was desperate to try anything to help reduce the pain! I was just thinking aboutear planes yesterday and am going to ask my doc if there is something like that I can use for when storms roll in.

Good luck and let us know if it works. I have the exact same issue with pressure fronts and migraines. It's been a rough winter!
