October 2017 Car Rental Rates

What is the USAA code? We are members and I didn't even think to use them!! Thanks :)

You can shop in the USAA website after logging in and check several car rental agencies. I've checked on a number of trips and will continue to check USAA discounts but I have always found better prices elsewhere.

It all varies when you check, currently their rates are high for the other dates I'm checking in the next 6 months

As stated above they handily beat everybody for me this July even without factoring in the savings off some of these included benefits:

Free additional driver

no under 25 surcharge for members, believe they rent to a member 18 y.o.

free (clean!) car seat

& some insurance benefits/loss limits that are detailed on the websites.

I just checked Costco (like I do every day :-))... my dates are October 4th through 11th.
Enterprise came up for an Intermediate @ $176.11 all in.
This is the lowest I have found so far. I had an Alamo Intermediate SUV at $210, there are only 2 of us - so not particular about the size of the car - looking for the lowest price!
$34 saved is at least a few more food booths at Epcot's Food & Wine Festival!!
Might be worth it to check it out today!

Does anyone know with Enterprise if you have to do to the rental desk, or can you go out to the garage to get your car? (like Budget and Alamo have a program where you can skip the counter inside.)

Via email alert i had set up thru auto slash

1 week compact rental beginning 10/1 = $158 thru priceline/hertz - cancellable no CC upfront.

Extending trip :)

Went with a 15 day rental starting 10/1 = $257 all in ($17 a day woot)

AAA #77694
PC #105652

Note: had to go thru the email link, was not able to replicate myself thru the Hertz/priceline website.

My dates (Oct 12-21) are still much higher now ($323) than what I have booked ($211) for an intermediate through Costco. I will keep checking as the time gets closer.

Ive been stalking for our trip for the last week, no luck for anything under $230. Last year I ended up with a full size through budget for the same week at $128. Hopefully I can score one eventually!

I'm so glad I booked months ago. I have been checking every so often, and I'm lucky if I find an economy for less than $230. I have a Standard for $150 currently. I hope they come down, but I'm fine with that compared to what I see now :crazy2:

Me too booked months and months ago, and just with my Alamo member discount and Costco discount, darn Alamo won't take any coupons, but still, over $100 more for the 13 days I have the midsize car, from 1 to1 13 October. I keep checkng though. My end of August one from Ft. Lauderdale dropped $20 for the one week I need the other day, now no better. Sigh, demand and prices.

We're going October 3rd-10th. We need a 12 passenger van. I found one for $380 but it's with Enterprise and they're not open 24 hours. Our flight gets in at 12:35a.m. so it's not going to work. I can't find anything cheaper with the other companies. Any coupon codes or ideas??

I also booked months ago and got a great deal. Can not believe how much rates have gone up. Would llike to upgrade to mini van end oct to first week nov. but its $1,000

The rates are crazy....I have two trips booked. One in mid September and another late October. I reserved months ago and glad I did. Wow. I've never seen them this high.

I would say book the van and look at other options like renting two minivans for the night and returning the next morning when Enterprise opens to swap out the vans for the one big van. Or could one person fly in earlier to pick up the van? Or give Enterprise a call and see if they can offer any suggestions? Thats a decent price for a van, let alone a 12 passenger one!

Does anyone know if it's possible to get any kind of a good deal on a one day rental? I have to rent a van to go from Port Canaveral on October 28th in the morning to go back to the airport that evening. I'm seeing $165 from Enterprise and $160 from Alamo. That seems a little ridiculous. I only have 5 people, but we'll have a ton of luggage so I think I need a van.

Just as an FYI - I checked my Costco reservation today (to make sure it was still there ??) - and it had increased $12! Obviously not a great deal, but I was wondering why - did an online Chat with Costco and she tracked it down to a higher tax amount. She said my base rate would stay the same, as that is what I have "locked" in, but the other state and federal fees could adjust up or down. Just thought I would pass along the information - with today's rates over $300 for the same car, I wanted to be sure I had been locked in and it wasn't "adjustable".

Hertz rates using USSA #77694 (must be member w/ID card) & coupon #105652

Not sure if keeping car both weeks at this point, two reservations pending both starting 10/1.

Went with compact vs midsize approx $40 less per week as local park/park this trip.

Do hope to be upgraded via gold membership

1 week $83

2 weeks $199

Wow, great prices Keisha. Just I refuse to use Hertz after having what my kids called the crap car. First, flat tire, then trunk would not open, and littlest car I think I have ever been in. When I returned it, they asked how it was, and I said was unhappy. They said, well, you could have come back to get a different car. Yeah, why was that not offered when I complained about the tire and trunk.

I am at $234, for a midsize from Alamo, so I think I will be using that one. Still hoping for a lower price. I keep checking.

Lol DH is the one usually cringing when i go forth to find an attendant when there is nothing but dogs available. I've gotten to point where i like to get sent to "a number", one last decision to make and only have to test things out on that car. Few times vehicle in bad shape, I complained and received upgrade (even with Alamo where the pickings get mighty slim in the evenings). If you belong to their reward program, all seem to try to make things right.

During storm last Oct alamo took one too many days IMO replacing our car with flat tire. Not happy with having to negotiate with them to come through for me, days after the storm had passed the area.
