October 2013 Code Watch?!

In the past, during the Columbus Day blackout dates, was that blacked out for FD or all discounts?

I checked on that b/c we will be there during that time this year. It was blacked out for free dining. They did have a room discount going on, but it was less of a percentage off than the rest of the month. (I think it was 20% off room, instead of 30% or close to that).

Pikester, I've been thinking the same! My dates are 9/29-10/05. I was thinking we'd catch MNSSHP & F&W since both will be in the first week of commencement, but now I'm wondering if there's anything special about later dates that should be considered...does the action get better as it winds down??? I'm sitting anxious enough as it is without this, lol

The very reason why we are going when we are going. :)

We're going 10/26-11/2 so we can be there on Halloween, that's all.

:thumbsup2

We are going oct 17-27th. Had to check in before my 3rd child turned 3 :) and those dates are the best ones for us. Did 7-17th of Oct last time and they were good dates also. Melted more then I thought we would though!

Going Oct 21 to Oct 28. My favorite time of years because my birthday is Oct 24. So I like to go during the end of Oct just for that reason.

My son's birthday is on the 24th too! :)

This will be our very first time in October, we always go in February.

10/22 until 11/02 and we're doing MNSSHP on his birthday.

Trying to figure out what we could do that day to kill time, but not tire ourselves out before the party. We have park hoppers, but going to a park that day and then hopping over to MK until the wee hours of the night doesn't sound like a good idea.

I know a lot of people have suggested swimming for the day, but doesn't that physically wear you out? :confused3

I'm having a spa treatment the morning of MNSSHP while DH hangs out with the kiddos - pool or some DTD Lego Store time, then we'll rendezvous at DTD for lunch and chill more at the pool/resort before the party. We're planning on 10/24 for the party too!

Very similar to everyone else, we leave the morning before MNSSHP completely open. We'll either swim, or head to Downtown, have a leisurely lunch, and let the kids play over there or at the resort. That type of play and activity is far less tiring than doing a park in the am. :goodvibes

I'm planning on a whole day at MK the day of the party, with a lengthy mid day break at the resort before the party. Then planning for a leisurely day, the day following so we can enjoy the party late at night without having to wake up early and head to a park. :goodvibes

That's our plan too. Early morning hours at MK until mid-day, rest all afternoon, early dinner at Be Our Guest (hopefully), and then the party. Next day will be cleared to sleep later and recover.

That's a great plan! I know traditionally MK isn't crowded on party days, so you'll probably get to enjoy that benefit. :thumbsup2

If I don't plan in down time on our trips, it usually doesn't happen. :lmao:

What does the MNSSHP consist of other than the parade & trick or treating?

That's why I planned it this way! It's my DH and DS first trip to the World so I'm trying to plan it as little overwhelming as I can-but I don't have high expectations of that! :thumbsup2

Exclusive meet and greets (princes, villains, Jack Sparrow, 7 dwarfs, etc), special fireworks, special merchandise and treats. Also the rare opportunity for adults to enter the park in costume.

This has been our strategy most parties! We usually do a Tuesday party and MK on Tuesday mornings is fantastic.

Thank you! That sounds like a ton of fun. We're going to go Halloween night! :)

We are also planing to go on Halloween night. We are just wondering if the crowds won't be to bad that night compared to the week before halloween.

I'm sure it'll be crazy but what better way to spend Halloween night....

Do they also still have Cinderellas glass carriage for photos?

We have a fabulous photo from a few years ago of our three dd standing in front of the carriage, drenched in rain, but with giant smiles. I'd love to recreate (minus the rain, of course)

They did not have it last year because of all the construction going on. Hopefully it will be back this year. :goodvibes
