October 13, 2012--Magical Galveston Cruise!!!

thank you for the promenade invite. I will try to make it there!

I was looking at old posts and saw Cathy was a little worried to go it solo. If she is still here I want to tell her that I have been on an Alaska cruise alone and made two great friends. I have been to theme parks alone and it is awesome bc you can do whatever you want whenever you want and not have to worry about others (not meaning that in a selfish way LOL). And I have even been all the way to Africa alone and that was by far the best thing I have ever done in my life. So cathy, just do it!! :)

I want to thank all of you that offered encouragement to go it solo. I have booked for the 12/1 cruise. I invited my 23 yr. old nephew to come along with me. He has caught Disney fever, and is such a great kid to his Mom and family I thought he deserved some pixie dust! I am hoping to book another cruise again while the ship is in Galveston. Maybe I'll do that one solo. Everyone have a great cruise. Tell Mickey I'll see him soon!!!!!

Anyone know anything about deck two? My parents have always been on seven

Thanks

Although I've never stayed on Deck 2 it seems that the location of the room is really the key as to whether people love the room or hate it. Some rooms are noisier than others depending on what is above you or whether you are forward or aft.

There are links under the DCL/Staterooms/Room reports above ^ and your particular cabin number may have had a report written about it, just plug your cabin number in and see. They usually turn up all reports on that stateroom number, so make sure you are looking at the report for the Magic. ::yes:: I always figure ANY room is better than not being on the cruise!! :rotfl:

So, I am so happy to be closer!! Have hijacked the DH's post again!!!
It's a good idea, but I think it might be a bit late to try and organize.
Thanks ma'am, DH saw this on a another site, so we thought we would pass it along.
I have been reading and following along with all of you all , my husband said he was surprised that I have not been logging on here more, but I guess it has not been quite real until now!!:joker: We have always planned trips for our family in the long term ,(we did start planning this 1.5 yrs ago!) This trip is very important to give us some much needed rest and allow us to have some family ( and hopefully some romantic:thumbsup2)time! Patman has had to take on alot of responsiblity the last year, and we have been having alot of challenges in our lives :lmao: so we really need a break!!
We will be trying to go to the meet, and looking forward to meeting you all! Dianna

Does anyone or has anyone planned any excursions for when we are in ports? We are still looking and deciding. Any help or advice would be great!
P.S. We have a 4 1/2 year old daughter so something family friendly.

Holy cow! After just finishing off FE gifts, I have to question how some people do it with more than 20 cabins! I'm notorious for always underestimating how much time it will take me to craft something. I'm hoping that everyone will like their gifts! Not sure how long it will take me to pack everyone up but I'll attempt to start tomorrow. See you all soon!

Nicole

:crazy2: Okay so I don't know about anyone else, but this week is going to be very hard for me :hyper: to concentrate on any one thing. Friday my mind was wondering pixiedust: from one thing to another.

I plan our vacations a LONG way into the future too...it drives DH crazy! :crazy2: LOL I'm sure this will be a great break for you all, I love cruises just because it really almost forces you into relaxation mode, and it sounds like you need it. :beach:

In Grand Cayman you can either hop into a taxi and go to 7 mile beach, or maybe try the island tour with the turtle farm. Lot's of people recommend Nachi Cocum resort in Cozumel, but I think you have to book it privately, not through DCL. Costa Maya is more tricky because we are there for such a short time. Maybe someone else can chime in there, I know some are doing something beachy where you reserve a spot with chairs etc., Dena (shaned) is doing that. :thumbsup2 Let us know what you decide.

I think 20 cabins is too many, our very first cruise, we signed up for the FE and at the end it was 32 cabins. :faint: To be honest, it really put me off signing up for one again, our last 2 cruises we didn't participate because it had been so overwhelming to me! The 100 cabin lists like they have on the transatlantics would just throw me over the edge! ::yes:: :lmao: I will admit to going for "easy" this time, last time I handmade christmas ornaments and it literally took me weeks. Y'all aren't getting anything "crafty" from me!! :rotfl2:

Uggg..Me TOO Dena! ;) I have errands, and lists, and lists, and errands that all have to be done this week .. AND my boss is gone from the office 80% of the year....guess which week he's coming in :scratchin THIS WEEK!! :crazy2::badpc: He'll be lucky to get any work out of me!. :rotfl:

:jumping1:party: :cheer2: 5 more days!! :hourglass

Thanks! And I agree better to be onboard than off!!

I just went clothes shopping yesterday! I am NOT a shopper so it was a real chore but I needed a few things and found some good deals!

Last Monday of work before we go!!!!!!

I am doing the mini submarine but then there is snorkeling. A dolphin swim with belly ride . Mayan ruins. Jade caverns. Mayn't be too kid friendly but the turtle farm or dolphin play might be good

Hello! We are exciting to be sailing out of Galveston THIS SATURDAY!! We are driving in from Minnesota on Friday/Saturday. It will be me and my husband, my 15 year old daughter, 11 year old son, 1 1/2 year old daughter and my father-in-law. For my FIL, it will be his first cruise so we are excited to share the magic with him! Cannot wait to meet some of you there! We will be the ones with the Red-White-Blue tye-dye Mickey Shirts (homemade)! Can't miss us!:cool1:

I agree! The only thing I will get done this week is PACKING!!! No productive work from me!

Wanted to let you know absolutely NO chance of rain (so far) on Saturday according to multiple meteorologists in the area. High of 90 so it will be warm, but hopefully, also DRY!

COME ON SATURDAY!:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

Shaned...what deanna23 said...nice clothes are just fine for dinner. no shorts or swim suits. Also, think about bringing some pirate clothes too. Sunday is our "Formal Night"...my hubby and I cruised last year on our first 7 night and we dressed up but some people go all out (tuxes etc.). We are going all out this time so I'm excited to have a reason to get all dolled up! Tuesday will be our Pirate Night, Wednesday is our "Semi-Formal" night (dresses and suits if you want)...if you just wear nice clothes, you will be fine. Noone has ever commented but I know they would if you wore shorts os swim suits ;) Cannot wait!!! Just a few more days!

I called Disney a couple weeks ago as we have a 1 1/2 year old... I asked about kid-friendly excursions and this is what they told me: At Grand Cayman: the Boat Beach Adventure and Marine Park, 7 mile Beach Break and Nautilis Undersea Tour (we did Nautilis last year and like it) at Coasta Maya: Highlight and Beach Combo, and Chakobean (sp?) Ruins Tour. At Cozumel: The Ruins and Beach Tour, Mayan Ruins and Discovery Park and The Discover Mexico Tour.

We have not booked our excursions yet (DOH!) but am considering the Mayan Ruins and Discovery Park at Cozumel and possibly a beach visit somewhere since no Castaway stop on this trip. See you there! Hope this helps and not too late!

Glad that you found us! That's quite a drive you guys are making! How long of a road trip is it going to be? :drive:

I'll keep an eye out for the tye-dye, but we're also getting together at 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge on Saturday, so if you have time to swing by come and say hi party:

thanks. I would have booked for the 10/13 cruise, but my nephew was available for the 12/1 date. I have never sailed at Christmas time, so I am excited about the decorations. I know you'll have a great time. I'll be waiting for some good reports when you return. Bon Voyage!!!!!!!
