Now, I am requesting a pitty party for me!!!!! The guys got all the A/C parts hooked up, flipped back on the power, and it doesn't work!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Seems there is a Fan Board that is bad in the air handler. He is going to go to the office and see if the air handler they have there has the same Fan Board. IF, and this is a HUGE IF, if it does, he'll scarf it out of there and bring it back tonight. If not, we are S.O.L. until probably Tuesday...since they'll have to order the part on Monday. Please send as much pixie dust as you can that when he gets to the office, it's the same board. I am becoming a desperate woman!!!!!!!

Pina Colada anyone??

Oh my goodness!!!!!:scared1: What a nightmare. This has taken so long for you! I cannot believe that you have been without A/C for this long! I don't think I could do it.

I think it's officially 2 weeks. July 4th it seemed cool upstairs, but then when we went to bed on the 5th, I thought it was a bit warm. By Sunday afternoon it was 85 degrees upstairs. Oh, and also, my 2 attic fans are shot! He just looked at them and said that the thermostats are good, but the fans won't spin. He said if they were working, it would help to keep the upstairs cooler, with or with out the A/C working. I am getting close to breaking. I grew up without A/C, but living in Cleveland, OH with Lake Erie just a block away, most days were tolerable. On the days that weren't, we spent those at the beach. I am spoiled now, I want my A/C FIXED!! and I want it fixed NOW!!! <walks off stomping her feet>

Oh good! Then he can be in it! :goodvibes

We definitely feel for you. We lost one of our A/C units last year at the end of July when the temps here average 110 degrees. Of course this unit was the one on the side of the house with the bedrooms. The thermostat on that side of the house was reading at 103 degrees! First guy from Trane came out and said a whole new unit, which would mean we would have to upgrade our air handler in the attic, would be $7,000!!! Luckily we got in touch with someone else and they did all the upgrades and a new unit for $3,100. It still took five days and it was not fun camping out in the family room. Imagine what it was like in areas such as ours before air conditioning.

I have a question for all of you. My boys both play club soccer (bet you couldn't guess that with my screen name ;) ). Well, Drew (my 8 year old) has a great team. They are ranked first in the state right now. But with tournaments and such, this is a very expensive little hobby. So, we are trying to plan some fundraisers. Someone told me about a fundraiser called "Flocking" where you put a whole bunch of pink flamingos in people's yards late at night and ask for donations to have them removed or replaced into someone else's yard. Has anyone ever done this or heard of it? I just wonder if too many of the birds would disappear to make it a worth-while. Thanks for your input!
Around here there used to be a place where you could rent a flamingo party but I'm not sure I've ever heard of a flocking. Sounds kind of cool to me as long as they don't dissappear overnight like you said, or have a very angry homeowner the next day

Here is where you can get the flamingos::

Wow that's pretty cool. I remember a loooooooooong time ago, we...umm I've heard that some people would run around doing flamingo runs when we...I mean they would go partying and find a few off peoples lawns and then as morbid as this sounds, we... umm I mean they would rip the legs off and cut the neck off and use it for beverage consumption. The details are a bit fuzzy but I believe we...they called it flamingoing a beer :lmao:

Pinkys and Gina are you all ready for the zoo tomorroow??!!!!

We had some kids have some fun in our neighborhood the other night. They gathered all the front porch furniture from the one house, and all the plants too and put them in the street to form a barricade. Then went around the entire neighborhood and gathered any garden flags they could find. (When I first heard this I thought it was these cheap plastic American flags that a realtor puts in our yards every 4th) and they put all the garden flags alllllll over his front yard. While they were gathering the flags, they also gathered these stones...they are usually University stones that say Thundering Herd, Go Mountaineers, WVU, Marshall, etc. and put those allll over the driveway. Well, when said neighbor went out at 6 am to get his paper, there was all this fodder decorating his yard, drive and street. Being that I am the current HOA President, he called and asked if this was some sort of new neighbor initiation! I laughed and said, No, you should have got a candle, but not this! He was laughing about it and thought it just harmless. Thankfully, there was no damage to his home or property. HOWEVER, since I thought when he said flags, he meant the aforementioned American Flags, I didn't think anything of mine would be there. When I drove around the circle the other day, I saw MY garden flag in the side yard waiting to be retrieved! :rotfl:

We used to just TP our friends homes!

I think I kind of remember hearing things such as this...

I think that my favorite prank of all time is undecorating and redecorating other's homes at Christmas. They would take down decorations from one house and put them up on another house down the street. A couple of my students got me a couple of years ago and I have to say it was quite funny to walk out and spot my giant Santa in the neighbor's yard and to see that my yard was decorated with a neighbor's lights. It must have taken hours to complete!

My friend, Danielle, and I were just talking about this today. At Halloween, her yard is in FULL decor. The lady across the street from her, Janice...who used to live next door to me!.....had nothing. The next morning all of Danielle's Decor was in Janice's yard! LOL It was quite funny, but a pain to move it all back.

We used to "straw" our friend's cars. It involved sticking straws into every crevice of the car (like the shut doors, the hood) so the car would look like a giant porcupine! Boy, I forgot how much fun those pranking days were! I'm smiling just remembering.

All in fun I guess. I would laugh too
