Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

I've got a first-timer question - Is there a hair dryer in the bathroom or do I need to bring mine?

Oh there is one, but supposedly it doesn't work well. (That's just what I've read here, I've never even used the provided hairdryers.) I always take mine. :) They do look strange though.

And am I the last to start my PTR? Is anyone else doing a TR of this cruise?

Just wondering if any of you make a trip to the River Roost at Port Orleans Riverside to see the family entertainment. Bob Jackson is there several evenings each week and we love his shows. Totally family oriented sing-along show really gets the audience :dance3: involved. Our DGD absolutely loved him.

I believe he does 2 shows per night and appears Wednesday-Sunday. DH will hopefully correct this info if I'm not on the mark.

Thanks for the tip. I guess I'll decide once I figure out how much room I have left in my suitcase ;)

Jennifer,
I have thick hair and on our first cruise I didn't bring my hair dryer. I WILL always have room for my hair dryer. The ones on the ship are very weak and I had to decide between having wet hair and spending 45 mins just on blow drying my hair...I went with semi-wet.

What did you decided to do about time for dinner seating and the shows? I chose main dining and the 9pm show. The girls will be 8 then, so I'm thinking that they might be okay staying up for the late show with full bellies.

I chose main seating and the 9pm show also. DD will be 11 by then, DS 6. The both have the ability to stay up that late if it's something they want to do. However, they cannot wait to eat, so its better we have the earlier seating and the later show.

Morgansmom, bring your own hair dryer! The blow dryer was terrible in our room. It took forever to dry my hair and it really didn't look "right' all week long because it was difficult to maneuver it and hold the brush at the same time! I ended up using a curling iron a lot, which I never do at home.

I don't think I'll do a PTR - maybe a trip report - or I may just stick to my dining report. I guess it depends on how good I am about taking pictures of food and how good I am at taking pictures of everything else - and of course, how busy things are when we get back......

I definitely be checking out your PTR and I've viewed the "Halloween Hater" one but not posted yet. Sometimes when I go to post certain things I feel like such a dork :tilt:

I was talking about that with my TA. Apparently, the theater on the Dream/Fantasy is not large enough to handle 1/2 the ship (no surprise there) so DCL had to create a time slot for a 3rd show.

On the Magic and Wonder if you have main dining you go to show after dinner and if you have late dining you go to the early show.

On our Dream cruise next August we choose main dining and the 5:00 show. It should be interesting to see how the 3 show choices work out.

Ahhh I want to post but won't till the script with magicalkingdom . Com is taken care. I hope it is disabled soon browsing on a cell sucks.

Before I vent... I need your help again!

I need to find a good restaurant on the 29th for 10 people. We are going to head down to DTD, but most of the restuaurants we want are booked.

Any "off Disney" restaurants you would recommend!;)

While it is not "off Disney", Il Mulino in the Swan is an option. They have private dining rooms available for groups of 8 or more and usually are offered on restaurant.com for cheap certificates. Their prices are not bad and the food and service were exceptional. Good Luck!

I'm open to suggestions.

No, but I'm still open to suggestions. :) Vikki mentioned CHH but I'm not sure if that will be while you are eating at the Plaza, and Ellen isn't coming until later. Wish I could provide a better timeline to where I will be when but this is our first MNSSHP and I promised no touring plans so I don't know. We will be in our Halloween Tie dye and have our lanyards on, so we should be pretty easy to spot. Sarah's stroller is also bright pink. If you know of a good time or place later on when all of us are there just let me know. We will be catching at least one of the parades- probably from around Frontierland where it isn't as crazy. ;)

Works for me!!! :)

Yay I can post again. I can't believe we are less than 48 hours from taking off!!:cool1: Sooooo much to do. I'm getting my parent's van from them in about 20 mins. Then its work, GYM, (lol not T in the GTL, horrible jersey shore reference):lmao:, sleep if I can. Loading up the car tomrw so we can leave Saturday after my kids game. I was going to tell you, Nenner, that I'll link you and sarge off my PTR, but that is after the MagicKingdom .com bann. Which is hopefully coming soonish. Not being able to post on b/c of a site can't keep its Sigs clean from malware is annoying. I know some ppl can ignore it and not care, but I built this computer a couple years ago and am very anal about it staying clean as I possibly can. (its a gaming rig)

Disneycruiser fyi, I think your signatures are one of them?! O.o

Another thing that I have to worry about is insurance for the car. Normally, it expires auto renew blah blah.. mine exp on the 7th. We are driving that Sunday and do to some stuff I have to have a new policy written before we take off. grrrr ...Wow time flies got to run!! :scared1:

Imagine those is us that write 'em. I can't tell you how much my hand is on the delete button. Haha Not to mention, I get writers block unless im exhausted. Expect 2 more posts on my pre before I'm finally done for the trip late tonight.

Hmmm. . . Haven't you seen one by a certain "Halloween Hater"?

Oh yes, Sarge's too.. so far I think it is just the three of us.

For sure! I would love to read a cruise dining review, I am a sucker for food porn! You should hear Ron groan when I stab him with my fork as he tries to dig in before I take my pic! The nerve!:rotfl2:

Wish I had a good idea...Maybe we could try to be in the same general area for Hallowishes?

I totally understand that, one of our laptops got hit just that way- malware script. It was horrible to get rid of.

Yeah, no kidding! Mine is going to be quite different this time around. I'm going for cute, quirky, funny, informative and interesting pretty much in that order. We'll see if I succeed or not!

Should be too early to interfere with us but....

Yeah it has a weird track. Out to sea then over the CAs then to the gulf on Tuesday. Thinking we will be fine .

I am sure we will be fine. Mickey would never let anything happen to us. :yay:

Yeah, not concerned about Richard, but I am interested in what just started brewing near the cape verde islands.

yea totally hope this stuff passes cause i am not going on that sea with anything brewing out in the ocean. If my hubby thought i was lying about sleeping in a lifejacket he better think again cause i am scared as it is to be out there i dont need hurricanes and cyclones or whatever to interfere this cruise will tell if i ever cruise again or not. Hope it dissappears soon:scared1:

If there is a hurricane in the Western Carribean, DCL will change the cruise to Eastern. We did this for one of our cruises. Only annoying part was that DCL didn't make the change until the late afternoon the day before we sailed - no time to do much research or figure out what we wanted to do at the new stops. Other than that, it was a wonderful trip (I personally prefer the Western, but the Eastern can be fun also.)

If there is major hurricane damage to a port before we get there, DCL will cancel that port. Our 1st Western skipped Grand Cayman since it was slammed by a hurricane and we were on one of the first group of cruises that went to Costa Maya. We had reasable advance notice of that and were able to do a fantastic tour of the ruins near there and is still one of our best travel memories.

It took us till our 3rd try at a Western to do the "normal" itinerary! Can you tell we always sailed in October?
