Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

A few months back my friends went on their first DCL Cruise (and of course loved it!) Their only complaint was that there wasn't enough room to store their suitcases - I quickly told them that everyone lifts the mattress and stores them there - they were not happy that I forgot to tell them that BEFORE they sailed - so - for all you first time cruisers . . . you have been told :thumbsup2
OK...This is my 3rd cruise and I didn't know this!!!! Great tip!!!!! Thanks for posting it!!!!

If there is a hurricane in the Western Carribean, DCL will change the cruise to Eastern. We did this for one of our cruises. Only annoying part was that DCL didn't make the change until the late afternoon the day before we sailed - no time to do much research or figure out what we wanted to do at the new stops. Other than that, it was a wonderful trip (I personally prefer the Western, but the Eastern can be fun also.)

If there is major hurricane damage to a port before we get there, DCL will cancel that port. Our 1st Western skipped Grand Cayman since it was slammed by a hurricane and we were on one of the first group of cruises that went to Costa Maya. We had reasable advance notice of that and were able to do a fantastic tour of the ruins near there and is still one of our best travel memories.

It took us till our 3rd try at a Western to do the "normal" itinerary! Can you tell we always sailed in October?

I think I shared this before, but for our 10/25/2008 cruise we had really really rough water and they changed Grand Cayman to Key West - every one of our excursions were cancelled and we still had a great time!!! There were four of us and none of us were bothered by the waves and I don't remember hearing anyone complain!

I went to and art demo in the atrium - Trevor Carlton was on board and he painted this in 33 minutes - he was dancing to rock music - it was so fun to watch!!

I ended up buying this one:

Just some random thoughts...

I read on the main forum that one of the Magic's drydock upgrades was new laundry machines. For those unfamilar, there are laundry rooms on decks 2, 6, and 7. The machines were okay, they required quarters, and the change machine was almost always out of order so any upgrade to the rooms would be appreciated. Regardless, don't forget to bring quarters if you intend on doing laundry. It's about the only place on the ship where you actually need cash.

Going this afternoon to Sam's Club to stock up on baby wipes. Although Sarah is 6 she still uses them to clean anything and everything (her hands, furniture, tv, cat, etc.) so I buy them by the case. We will probably bring several packs. If someone runs out we should have plenty. :thumbsup2

Jeff

P.S. Kidding about cleaning the cat with a wipe. :)

Actually if they upgraded the laundry machines, as they did on the Wonder, they don't take cash anymore. You swipe your room key. Can't remember how much a load but some something like $1.50 or $2.00 a load rings a bell.

Yeah, I figured that if they did put in new machines they might not take cash. We will bring quarters just in case the machines didn't get upgraded.

Cost: I remember it being around a $1.00 a load, but that was a couple years ago, so $1.50 is probably right.

Wondering if anyone (Judy?) has done a breakdown by age/gender/singles/couples, etc. of the 3 fish extender groups? I need to make sure I have enough of everything - so I can start putting together this weekend!

I would show you a photo if I only knew how. Stupid thing keeps asking me for a URL. I don't have a URL, it's on my computer.

The wipes take makeup off well too!

yea totally hope this stuff passes cause i am not going on that sea with anything brewing out in the ocean. If my hubby thought i was lying about sleeping in a lifejacket he better think again cause i am scared as it is to be out there i dont need hurricanes and cyclones or whatever to interfere this cruise will tell if i ever cruise again or not. Hope it dissappears soon:scared1:

We've done lots of cruises and there is nothing to worry about, the captian doesn't take risks and anywhere is better than here! If you worry yourself about it, you'll psych yourself out and not have a good time. It's a cruise-you're not at the office, you're not cooking dinner or washing the dishes and your cabin steward keeps the cabin neat--have another drink and go with the flow!

You would have to upload the picture to a photo sharing website like Photobucket and it will assign your photo a URL code. You then paste that code to your post and Voila!

Oh yes, Sarge's too.. so far I think it is just the three of us.

For sure! I would love to read a cruise dining review, I am a sucker for food porn! You should hear Ron groan when I stab him with my fork as he tries to dig in before I take my pic! The nerve!:rotfl2:

I'll be guest blogging on Disney Food Blog--I'm so excited! Look for my thoughts after the cruise!

Wish I had a good idea...Maybe we could try to be in the same general area for Hallowishes?

What time are 10/28 people getting to the MK?

I totally understand that, one of our laptops got hit just that way- malware script. It was horrible to get rid of.

Yeah, no kidding! Mine is going to be quite different this time around. I'm going for cute, quirky, funny, informative and interesting pretty much in that order. We'll see if I succeed or not!

Getting excited! I put my comments in bold above!

Thanks I will keep that in mind! We use them constantly too mostly for one particular always messy little face. :rolleyes1 I can already imagine how many we will need for a Mickey Bar cleanup!!:rotfl2:

Yes, it should be in the download packets, I know Janice made the spreadsheet called FE Master list. It has all the info on ages and girls are pink and boys are blue. I think Group C is the only one that info wasn't done for but that is on the roll call so.. ;) Let me know if you don't find it!

Attention ToT volunteers: I will be sending your packets out today via PM. You don't have to worry about printing and bringing them, I will have them for you, I just wanted to make sure everyone had an opportunity to read them get familiar with how the ToT is going to operate and if there are any questions it would be easier to address them now instead of onboard when we are a bit pressed for timel :thumbsup2

That is so cumbersome. I don't have photobucket...you will all just have to be surprised onboard then.

Oh wow, congrats- how cool! I can't wait to read it!!! :thumbsup2

As far as MNSSHP, we will be arriving promptly at 4! Angela (SweetDolly) is too but they do have a Main Street Barbershop appointment and dinner ADR for the early part of the evening. Ellen (podsnel) said they will be arriving at about 7:30.

Will Les be able to make it?

Did anyone else see the Disney Villians line of make up from MAC? OMG-I had to buy it! So I bought my first big-girl make up from Henri Bendel in NYC after seeing the gorgeous Villians windows they had on 5th Avenue!

Les (Nemo) is working, so I will be there with a girlfriend who was able to come in for a couple days (at least his ticket isn't going to waste, she's coming in about 6:30-7 p.m. from work on party night). No Les until Saturday morning:confused3, but paying the mortgage comes before all else these days!

I have to work part of the time too. I'm a TA that specializes in Disney vacations:wizard:, so I'll be doing site surveys for a potential client. :yay:

Want to meet at the flagpole at the very beginning of Main Street, right when you walk in at 4 p.m.? I'll sit on the bench. I'm probably going to be dressed in all black with a Minnie witch hat on.

Ok sounds good! I will have my eyes open for you! Will you be on the Roy Bench? LOL! :rotfl2:

TRICK OR TREAT VOLUNTEERS- Your packets explaining in detail how the ToT will run and where your stop is and what you will be giving out will be coming to you via PM in a few minutes. :) Please take a few moments to read them over and if you have any questions let me know via return PM so we can keep the surprises secret for all of those participating!

:thanks:

Thanks so much again for volunteering to be a part of this great event! It will be a lot of fun!!! :goodvibes
