Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

So today was kinda slow at work, just finished up a big project. The timing couldn't be any better.

Anywho, I was looking for retail stores in Key West. I figured on the off chance (ok, real good chance) :lmao: that we forgot something we could pick it up in KW.

There is plenty of chain store retail, but nothing walking distance except for a CVS which is right near the pier. Here's a screen shot pointing out the location.

]Thanks Jeff for the opportunity for me to remind everyone who wants to purchase Kino Sandals to call them at

(305)-294-5044

The more of us that call to let them know we want to patronize their business the better the chance they will open for us. THEY DID NOT OPEN on SUNDAY 10/17!

If you don't know about Kino Sandals or missed the discussion the first time around, they are very reasonably priced handmade leather sandals- made in a factory right where you shop. They are a Key West tradition. Let me tell you these sandals last forever! Check out the website here, it is only a block or two at most from the port.

Thanks all who take the time to call, hopefully it works for us! :goodvibes

Thanks for the number and the website Jen. I just called them, and they said they WOULD be open on Sunday the 31st!!! From 10am to 3pm. We didn't buy our trolley tickets and at this point I think we'll just get them there. If on the Trolley tour, do they go anywhere close to Kino Sandals? I'm trying to think of when we could get there, not knowing how the layout is.
I haven't been doing ANYTHING but working on this Video since Monday. I got two hours sleep last night as I was SO frustrated with it! I had it all done, and it was great, but then I go to burn it to DVD format, and the file is TOO BIG!!! ERRRGGGHHH!! So I've had to split it into Two parts to go on two DVD's. I'm just about to burn part two, and I guess at this point, anything could still go wrong (with the luck I've been having with it). Anyway, needless to say, this has taken up ALL my time! DH Came home today with a ton of supplies for the trip, some of which I had already bought (guess we have a lack of communication going here).

OH, BIG QUESTION... Is there Mickey Head shaped Pasta on board? I need to know, and if they don't, I'll buy it in WDW while we are there. DS13 will be making a 3D plant cell while on board. I've put all the supplies together in a ziplock bag. He's going to use pasta for one of the kinds of things that go in it, and I though Mickey Head shaped pasta would be FUN. His teacher wants photos of him working on it when we get back. She thought that would be the most Awesome place to work on a science project! (the ship) Anyway, I've gotta get off the board and back to the video. Wish me luck!!

I updated the image, I put a green stripe on Fitzpatrick Street; Kino is 107 Fitzpatrick.

You might find this strange, but nobody in my family wears makeup.

Not so strange. I have lots of friends who wear little or no makeup. I probably use more :scared1: than most of them, but less than some of my family members. I prefer plain old vaseline to remove what I do use when at home, but the wipes are so great when traveling. Mine are packed.

Yes it is in the back left corner of the large orange rectangle building in the middle of the block with the plaza in the middle (where the trees are)..:thumbsup2 Right where the word "Look" is over that building is where the Kino shop is.

Thanks for calling Judy we will call again next week to make sure they don't go changing their minds. LOL! There is a stop near there, but it is very close to the start of the Old Town Trolley too. It is very, very close by.

As far as the Mickey pasta- they definitely did serve it onboard, but I'm not sure if they sold it. :thumbsup2 I'm sure you could get it at DTD.

Bags are pacded and in the car, so we will be ready to :drive: roll at 5AM. All we have to do is put a few things in the cooler before taking off.

Well keep an eye on the thread until we meet. This is when DH and I look at each other and replay our favorite Disney ad. "I'M TOO EXCITED :jumping3::Pinkbounc TOO SLEEP".

Ron Jon: Yeah, me either. Might have to check it out.

Sleep: I think sssteele was jokingly referring to this Disney commerical which is a fan favorite. Another one is the DCL little souvenir. Love that one!!

Jeff, any idea where this place http://thekeywestwinery.com is in relation to the Port? I was considering stopping there to buy one or two of their fruit wines to bring back on board with us!

It is 103 Simonton Street which is right near the Pirate Soul Museum. Two blocks east of the CVS following Front Street.

A bottle of wine sounds like a good idea.

Oh....I have been here twice....it is so easy to get to....just keep walking past the CVS and you will run into it pretty much. The shop is small but has some really neat wines like pineable, guava berry, lime, etc...not your normal wines. They have many gift items as well. You can sample many of the wines.

Does anyone know of an easy to print and still read streets map of Key West? I would like to print one out and mark the places I intend to stop in! For sure we will visit Irish Kevin's and I will mark a Key Lime pie place. Oh, and the rum cake store because they have Key Lime rum cakes that are only in Key West!

thanks for any help with it!

Anybody visit Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel before? We will be meeting friends there that are on another ship!:cheer2:

maps.google.com is pretty good, or go to the AAA website and make a "triptik". I don't think you need to be a member to make them.

DH and I have been up since about 5:00 am - Morgan is over a friend's for last night and my sister's tonight. We too looked at each other and said "I'm too excited to sleep!" and we still have a week to go! At this time next Saturday we'll (hopefully) have been boarded on our plane...

Oh, and can you tell me where to get some Key Lime pie? A piece of that and a picture at the southernmost point in the US are my only goals for Key West ;)

There's a few places right on Duval Street. I think the Blonde Giraffe is one and the Key Lime pie factory. We took the trolley for the tour and got off at the far end of Duval and walked back which was nice. We got to go in and out of the shops and had lunch and drinks at Margaritaville.

When you go for key lime pie, make sure you try a slice frozen on a stick, it's dipped in chocolate. Totally amazing!!!!

I see it! Great, thanks.

I saw the pineapple wine on the website and knew I definitely had to try it!
