Oct 28, 2007, Halloween 4-night cruise on Wonder

I've never been happier to find out I just have a sprained ligament in my life. Doc says should be fine by Monday (If not sooner).

Oh no!! What will we do about lunch for those of us with younger kids who freak out if they don't eat by noon??? Shoot!! And with Sethy's allergies, I was told by the food people from DCL to go right to the one restaurant that would be open instead of counter service since they can accomodate us better!! Oh no!!

Scott, are you reading this? What will we do???

I can't account for the allergies, but I know there is that place right inside that has food/snacks. Might be able to hold them over for a little bit.

Chux, glad it's nothing major!

As for Seth's allergies, he's allergic to all dairy, nuts, wheat, eggs, anything with seeds in it, some fruit, etc. So we can't ever just get him something from a snack stand. :guilty: Scott e-mails our Dreams Unlimited agent asking her about this and she said we can get on the ship around noonish. Here's her e-mail she just sent us
Hi Scott,
You can usually begin boarding the ship around 12:00 noon. I think a 10 a.m. pick up is a good time. You will get a ‘boarding number’ when you arrive at the port, and that is the order you will board the ship (they call by number groups) There are characters that come out at the port for pictures and plenty to look at as well. You can also pick up the pager for the kids clubs at the port as well instead of waiting until you board the ship.

When you check in at the Animal Kingdom Lodge that will also check you in for your cruise, so all you will do is drop off your luggage with the porter when you arrive at the port, and board the ship as your group boarding number is called.

So here's what I think is our final packing list (packing for 4 is tough!) Keeping in mind we'll be at the parks for 5 days before the cruise and will be gone a total of 10 days, what do you guys think? Anything I'm missing or need to add? Scott said he's not bringing a jacket for dress up night since he read on here a nice shirt and tie is acceptable. What are you other guys going to wear?
  • At least 3 pairs shorts per person
  • At least 2-3 pairs of pants each
  • 2 bathing suits each
  • Underwear for 10 days for 3 of us (diapers & wipes for the 4th Klein!)
  • At least 3 pairs of PJs for the kids and 1-2 pairs for you and me (well shorts for you)
  • 10 days worth of socks each
  • 10 t-shirts each (maybe 7 short sleeve and 3 long just in case it’s chilly)
  • Sneakers and sandals for everyone
  • Lightweight jacket/ sweater for everyone
  • Sunscreen
  • Makeup for me
  • Hairbrushes/ toothbrushes/ toothpaste/ meds for everyone/ hair clips for me & Jackie
  • “Island wear” for tropical night and “pirate” stuff in case it’s pirate night instead
  • Halloween costumes for each of us w/ accessories
  • Dress up night outfit for each of us (coral dress for me, jacket for you, dress for Jackie and nice shirt and pants for Seth)
  • Passports, both our licenses, 1 credit card, Disney rewards card
  • Cell phones, digital camera, video camera and all chargers (extra video tapes too)
  • All cruise papers and docs we have, extra luggage tags for cruise
  • Jackie’s blankie, Seth’s water cup, 1 birdies
  • Seth’s Avent sippies (the 2 we have, maybe buy a 3rd?)
  • Big diaper bag we got for free from Katena center that time (we need to find it ASAP)
  • Portable DVD player and charger, DVDs
  • Carry on stuff for us and kids
  • Sunglasses for us
  • Vitamins for everyone, Aquaphor for Seth, Chapstick for me

Anyone know anything about Tea W/ Wendy on the ship? Is it only on the 7 night cruises or will it be on ours as well? I saw this thread today and asked but no one's answered me yet.

Lisa - I just watched (again) that informational DVD about the cruise, and it mentioned the tea with Wendy thing. But off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure it said it was just on the 7 day cruise. Could be wrong, though! Oh, and yes, it's me who will be at MGM the same day as you - the 26th. Is there a Playhouse Disney show there that day? I think there is, and I know Emily would love to go see it, so maybe we could try to meet up at that if your kids would be interested. I think there's a Playhouse Disney show that is along with a meal, but we don't want to do that one - I'm hoping there's just a free show kind of thing without the lunch part. I need to find out somehow!

I just did a ton of shopping today for the cruise and WDW. Got an autograph book for Emily and stuff for the plane ride, plus a photo mat/frame thing for all the characters to sign on the ship. Is anybody else doing one of those? I've heard you can leave a photo mat or pillowcase or whatever at Guest Services, and they'll have the characters sign it, and then you pick it up later. Should be cool!!

I've been trying to find extra swimsuits for Emily and myself, and am having NO luck!!!!! It's driving me crazy!! I live in California, for crying out loud, you'd think somebody would still be selling them! Hopefully I can find some in Florida.

Monique, thanks for the info. Too bad the tea with Wendy isn't on our cruise.. oh well.. When we're at MGM our only plans (that I know of) are lunch at 11:45 at Hollywood & Vine (character meal w/ Little Einsteins) and dinner at Pizza Planet (counter service) at 6 pm. The Playhouse Disney Show is 20 mins so it's probably like the Beauty and the Beast show and stuff like that. I can't seem to find show times on WDWInfo.com since they probably change daily. There's also Magical Beginnings while we're there. At MGM there's the Playhouse Disney Concert Series and Dan Zanes will be there, but Scott's not sure if he wants to get tix for that or not...

We all already have 2 bathing suits (the kids have more than 2) so we're ready with that. We just have a few things to get at Target this weekend and we're all ready to go! The friends we're going on the land portion with made Jackie & Seth autograph books and I didn't think of anything for getting autographs on the cruise, but we will get tons at the parks.

Lisa, we thought about doing that character lunch with the Little Einsteins. We probably should have done it, but we have the character breakfast at Chef Mickey's that same morning. Oh well! I think Emily would enjoy the Dan Zanes thing. She likes him on tv, and she's all about life being one big dance party! It looks like you don't buy tickets - you just show up early for tickets and cross your fingers that they're not all gone. Is that right? We could try for that if you'd want to. Or we could meet up at Pizza Planet at 6, but I'd hate to crash your dinner because I know you're with friends for the land portion. It would be fun to work something out, but no biggie if we can't manage it. The kids will still have plenty of time to hang out on the ship! :)

You can join us at Pizza Planet if you want. The only reason we have a set time is because of them preparing food for Seth, so they need to know when we're going. I know my friends won't mind you joining us. They have an 8 (or 9?) year old girl and a 3 1/2 year old boy. We're dining together on the ship, right? It would be so cute for the kids to see each other at MGM and then again on the ship and recognize each other!!

Lisa, I think that would be so fun if you're sure your friends wouldn't mind! Is Pizza Planet similar to the one in Toy Story? Emily would get a kick out of that! I too think it would be awesome for the kids to meet at the parks first since we'll be dining together on the ship. Is Jackie fairly talkative or on the quiet side? Emily might talk her ear off - she takes after my MIL. :rotfl: Well, I will plan on Pizza Planet that night at 6pm. I wondered how you would eat there with Seth's allergies - that's so cool that they're preparing something special for him!

Also are you (or anybody else here) planning on going to MNSSHP??? We're considering it, but not sure if it's really worth the money. Hmmmmm.

I know they won't mind at all. They are very friendly people and love anyone who loves Disney! We met them when we were both on our Disneymoons 5 years ago and said we'd all go back for our 5th anniversaries with our kids... and here we are, just days away from that!! Yes, Pizza Planet is from Toy Story and they are making Seth a dairy/ egg/ gluten free pizza. It's kind of a pain having to know exactly where we'll be eating and when for every single meal, but it ensures we'll get wonderful stuff for Seth! Jackie is the most outgoing kid I've ever seen and Seth isn't that different. It'll be adorable to see them all together!

We decided against MNSSHP. We really wanted to but since the kids get VERY fussy if they are up past 8:30ish (bedtime for him at 7:30 and we're trying out 8 for her) we figured we'd only be able to stay for 1-2 hours tops. It wasn't worth the $$ for us that way. If we had more time in the parks and were going back to the hotel for naps we would do it. Next time.... we plan on going back (*gasp* with all 3 kids) in 3 years!
