OBB placeholder question

I haven't seen an answer to this question before and I'm hoping someone can help. I booked a placeholder with just my DD and I listed. I've since applied that placeholder to a cruise. I am considering inviting a 3rd person to join us. I know that I will have to pay the prevailing fare when I add that person. But does the 10% OBB discount apply to that 3rd person's fare? Or not since I only listed DD and me when I booked the placeholder?

TIA!

That is an excellent question that I have never encountered. I will be interested to see if PrincessShmoo has an answer.

Wow! I knew this was an obscure question but I didn't think it was obscure enough to stump even PrincessShmoo!

Does anyone have experience with this from back before there were placeholders and you just booked a "dummy cruise" date? If you added another person to your stateroom after booking the dummy cruise onboard, did the 10% discount apply?

I know I could just email my TA, but right now, I'm just contemplating the possibility of adding someone and didn't want to bother my TA until I'm more definite about it.

That's a good question... I am sure it has come up before but its always just been my husband and I on our DCL cruises to date so I am not sure. It would make sense that it would since its not a new reservation or adding a stateroom, but it IS a new person so... hopefully someone will be along who knows first hand! Not even the official DIS page on pricing and reservations mentions it. :(

Last year I booked two rooms onboard for last month. One room was for my parents and I put my dd16 in there so they could get silver cc benefits and in my room was my dh, dd14 & me. Due to health reasons, my parents had to cancel...so when I canceled their room I had to move my dd16 into my room so she could still go. There was no price difference, but it could be because she already had a reservation on the ship & was just being moved into a different room. That's the closest info I've got

I was wondering about this for my upcoming cruise. I plan to book a placeholder. I think I will add my inlaws because we are considering an Alaskan with them. If we don't do it I can remove them easy enough.

We just did this recently. I used a placeholder and booked me and my husband. Our daughter decided a couple months later to join us. I added her to our reservation(in our room) and she was given the 10% discount rate.

Awesome! Thanks for the answer!
