You asked how could I know he HASN'T offered to help. I answered. I answered your question based on information stated by Mr Obama himself. I didn't say whether I believed him or not. So if he says that he didnt know she was here getting government assistance as an illegal, well then, if you take him at his word, he wouldn't have helped what he didn't know about. But he does now so I stand by my comment. NOW, that he has acknowledged he knows, shouldn't he be helping out. Again, this is a direct response to you asking "how did we know if he hasn't helped"

He didn't know her status as a citizen.

What are your implications? That he is getting her a pass? He's not President yet.

Until he started running for higher office he gave a pittance to charity. Really. Less than 1%. Biden gave less than $1000 last year, on a Senator's salary.....

Just an FYI:

The figures you quoted are most likely the amounts that were listed on the tax returns.

That may be all that was given to charity or that may be just the amount that was claimed on the return.

DH and I only take a standard detuction for charity since we usually give anonymously. If we asked for reciepts we could claim a lot more but we feel a gift is a gift. Plus we do not want the recongination if it was known who gave the gift.

Truthfully, I found this interesting in the CNN article:

Wouldn't one assume it to be criminal matter? I don't understand...what is an "administrative violation" does that mean it is no more serious, than say, a traffic ticket? And I'm not asking this because the woman is Obama's aunt. I just truly thought all persons being in the US without permission would be criminal. OR, is she here legally, just not granted asylum?

It is not clear when Onyango arrived in the United States.

She told the London Times that she travels back and forth between the United States and Kenya.

"I have been coming to America ever since 1975. I always come and go," the Times quoted her as saying.

If it is true that she "comes and goes" then she may be here on a visa of some sort, otherwise how could she get through customs in the first place? It isn't like you can get here from Kenya by sneeking across the border or on a home made boat. She would have to fly in on a commercial jet, with passport and documents, right?
