Obama supporters! - A positive place to talk about his campaign
At least I'm not a conservative hate mongure. Sure hope all your friends are liberals. And as for breezy I posted over there about it and we discussed it over PM's so not to start a brawl on any of the treads.

Funny how your so concerned with me posting on the conservative thread. Are you worried that I will give away trade secrets? They understand that I do not like Bush at all, or Cheney....They also know that I will be voting Hillary or Obama...not McCain. Yet we get along....go figure.

Sorry but I hold no hate for anyone in my life and dont intend to start on the DIS.
No one is telling you to hate. No one is telling you not to post on the Con thread. It's silly that you constantly try to make them out to be fair-minded, nonpbashing, just talking about the issues/candidates, folks though.

You say you don't hold hate for anyone yet you are constantly calling WVRevy a troll and trying to vilify him.

You say you admire the con thread posters for being folks who just talk about the candidates and issues, yet you waste no opportunity to laugh with them about Obama and make fun of Obama on that thread as well as the Hillary thread, rather than just pointing out where you differ with Obama on the issues.

So, did you get your answer for the mods about cross-posting?

May I make a suggestion?

(1) Click on UserCP on the upper left.
(2) On the left "Control Panel" go all the way down to "Miscellaneous".
(3) Click "Buddy / Ignore Lists"
(4) The ignore list is on the bottom. Under "Add New User to List", type the name of any user who may be annoying you and then click on "Save List".

Problem solved!

If you guys stop responding to my posts I'll know you used ME as an example :rotfl:.

1 - Again, as I'm sure you'll find, there is no rule against quoting a post anywhere you'd like. I've said it on this thread, as have others: feel free to use any post of mine any way you like, so long as you quote me accurately (as I did you) and in context (again, as I did).

2 - You seem to have no problem calling me names (witness your post on this very thread calling me a "troll"), so why are you complaining? Besides, I haven't seen anyone here call you any names at all.

3 - As for the conservative thread and posting there, personally, I see nothing wrong with it. I have a couple friends on that thread as well, though I don't post there often, mostly because they prefer the thread to be for conservative posters, which I most definitely am not. I think the reason you take flak for it is that many of the conservatives are "supporting" Hillary ONLY because they hope she damages Obama so severely for the general election that it will help McCain win in the end. Frankly, that's the same concern that many of is have, so seeing Hillary supporters whose biggest cheering section is comprised of some of the most conservative members of this board is an irritant.

I have nothing personally against you, Robin, aside from the fact that you seem to have some kind of vendetta against me. I even respect the fact that you say you will vote for Obama should the nomination go against your candidate. There is nothing wrong with passionate support for your candidate. But, from the beginning, you have attacked Obama supporters as nothing more than "kool aid drinkers" who were caught up in some kind of hysteria about him rather than choosing to support him based on our rational belief that he would make a better president than Hillary Clinton. Yes, I took offense to that then, and still do. Between your posts and DisUnc's, you seem to believe that, in order for someone to support Obama over Clinton, someone has to be either a mysoginist (again, an accusation at which I take great offense), or some kind of mindless rube easily swayed by pretty words. So if you think the "problems" are all on our side, I'm sorry, but you are sadly mistaken.

I've tried to respect your wishes and not post to the Hillary supporters thread, and been accused of using that courtesy as an "excuse" for not responding to something there. I've tried to discuss the election in other threads with you and am immediately called "hostile", despite my having defended both Democratic candidates on that same thread (I believe there was a joke about how Obama supporters must be "drunk" ). At every single turn you've attacked me, called me names, and tried to come off as an innocent victim of that mean ol' WVRevy and his overly agressive ways. I'm tired of it, so I reported your insults. I doubt anything will come of that, but I just don't know how else to get you to back off.

To any other Hillary supporters out there reading this thread, I believe I may owe you all an apology. I've already talked to a few of you off-line and through PM's, but I feel I should do this "publicly" as well. I have, at times, let GotDisney and DisUnc's goading get the better of my judgment, and lashed out at all Hillary supporters in response, and for that, I am truly sorry. I fully realize that many of you looked at the situation rationally and simply came to a different conclusion than I, and that's fine with me. Oh, I still have a problem with a lot of things Hillary has done, but I promise you that I will confine my outrage with her to this thread or other forums rather than taking out my frustrations on any of you. In the end, we're all on the same side against the Republicans and the damage they have done and want to continue to do to this country. I will do everything I can to remember that in the future when I'm getting Bush-supporter-like attacks from certain other Hillary supporters.

::yes:: :thanks: :love2:

P.s. Chrisgill...my dad said he is in total agreement with Obama. People ARE bitter and frustrated. He's been fighting this all his life (he worked in a factory for years, and was always laid off when I was younger, then he finally had enough and left permanently and its been not much better and if fact lately just as bad..) At 60 yrs old he has had enough.!!!!! When the major breadwinner cannot make that bread consistently through his life through no fault of his own, then yeah that takes a toll after awhile.

Hmmm HRC is in touch?? With her $109 million income and $800,000 Nafta buyoff income (sorry thats how I see it)????? Ok then.

FTR, I am a 38 year old White woman, with no college whose household income until recently was under $55K (in August, DH got a HUGE promotion and raise, thru his own merits!:woohoo: ) and I was NEVER a big HRC supporter. I was Obama from the outset, the more I heard about him , the more I liked. As I said I would have voted for HRC a few weeks ago, but I highly doubt she will get my vote. Hopefully, Obama will finish this off completely in PA.

You might not want to forget the millions of dollars they've gotten directly from the Saudi's.... but anywhoo....

I'm sorry your Dad has such a hard time of it, I'm glad he can see through the spin of it all, this election season. Does he have much interaction with others who have the same issues?

I initially figured I'd just be voting for HRC, until I really started paying attention in early December... even at that time I would have taken either candidate, but as time goes by and things happen and I see more and more, she will not get my vote... I guess it's been since around or right after Super Tuesday that I've just seen her really disintegrate into what is the typical nasty, right at all costs politician that is similar to the one we are trying to get rid of.

Robin, I'll respond to you :lmao:

No I deleted my long post because there is no need for us all to continue this bickering. WE disagree and so be it. Nothing wrong with that. I am sure you are all good people that like me get carried away sometimes with our passions. In the long run we want the same thing. For a Dem to be in office and if it is Obama that is fine.

I apologize if my remarks about Obama have hurt some. But we have all done our share of putting down the others candidate. I was not upset last night about any remarks just that my post was used in 2 other posters arguments/disagreements and I was brought into it.

AS for my going into the conservative thread. I will defend Obama or Hillary if need to and also will post about all there candidates in there making fun of them all. I went in there the other night to state something that was said about Obama and she brought it to me over PM.

This will be my last post and the last would have but felt that I would come and apologize ALL to of you. Have a great blessed day.

Dear GotDisney

Since you got so upset over someone quoting one of your posts--and I will point out that your post had been quoted accurately--might I kindly suggest you learn to use the quote feature correctly. In your response to another poster, you have incorrectly attributed their statement to me. I did not make any comments in this thread, or any other thread, about your visits and/or discourse with your compadres on the conservative thread.

Kind regards,

Reflection

Sorry I did quote Chobi but it came up you :confused3 please look above your post to his remark. It is how the quote showed up. sometimes the quote function does do that. It was not ment intentionally. Have a great day.

I have not read this WHOLE thread but I am still undecided on who I will vote for. I have read most of Obama's website and have a few questions. Where are we going to get the money to bail all these people out of their mortgages and at the same time give tax breaks to everyone and put 1.8 ? billion into child care? The way I understand our economy is we are in the hole BIG time, our dollar is worth far less than the euro, what happens when we have to pay this money back and we don't have it. Had I known we would be bailed out of a mortgage we could not afford I would have gotten one too! :cool1: :rotfl2: Sorry I don't think my tax money should go to people who were living above their means. I don't like that everything we purchase comes from a foreign country and all our jobs are going overseas. I think we should GREATLY tax companies that ship our jobs overseas and leave their headquarters in the USA. Their wages are way below our minimum wage. What does Obama say about this? How about drug testing for welfare recipients? I think the should be drug tested the people working to support them are drug tested so why not them? I think we should take care of our elderly, they should not have to choose between medicine and food. I guess where I live I see the eldery go without while we support the drug abusers. Like I said before I have not made my mind up who I will vote for but I have not had time to check out each canidate to see who best fits my believes.

1 - Most of the money will come from closing corporate tax loopholes, ending corporate welfare for companies making over a billion dollars a quarter, forcing Iraq to pay for at least some of it's own reconstruction, and getting rid of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest people in the country. As for the rest of it? It is possible that taxes will be raised for everyone, though I honestly believe that will be a last resort. The simple fact is that the current administration has been spending money like a drunken sailor on shore leave, and we're in a pretty serious hole because of it. In order to get out of it as a nation, we may all have to sacrifice a little bit. There may be no other way to get out of the hole. But the most important thing is, we're in the hole, so maybe we should stop digging!!! :teeth:

2 - Keep in mind, the people that are being talked about for a potential mortgage bailout aren't people that bought million dollar homes on $50,000 per year salaries. They are people that bought - based on recommendations from their lending institutions - a mortgage with an interest rate that was variable, or that was above the prime rate at the time. These were people that qualified for better rates, but agreed based on their lending agency's recommendations. For example, I've read that blacks making a certain income were far more likely to receive a sub-prime mortgage than whites making the exact same income. That is predatory on the part of the lending agencies, and it's wrong. If we can bail out the agencies, can't we at least give the people they took advantage of a hand? We aren't talking about paying off their mortgages...just putting a temporary brake on the system to help them get back on their feet.

3 - The tax loopholes I mentioned in point 1? One big one is the one that allows companies the send American jobs out of the country to actually save tax money by that practice. It's one of the biggest incentives for big corporations (and trust me, I work in the outsourcing industry, so I should know). Obama is for fair trade, and Hillary says that she is as well. McCain is an adamant defender of free trade, which means he couldn't care less if your job gets sent overseas, as he thinks something will come to replace it. So, unless you want a brand spanking new career as a telemarketer - about the only new-market jobs that are "coming in" to replace all those industrial jobs we've been shipping out - I'd strongly advise you to look very closely at McCain and his policies and voting record before making the mistake of giving him your vote.

4 - Drug tests for welfare recipients isn't going to happen. My opinion: Drug tests are an invasion of privacy. If an employee (or, in this case, a welfare recipient) is doing what they are supposed to do, taking care of their responsibilities, and has not been a behavioral problem or disruption to others, what they do on their own time outside of the company is none of my business. Would you cut off assistance to people because they smoked a joint? If you were an employer, would you fire them for smoking one, so long as it was off duty?

If you have any other questions, please feel free to come back and ask anything that you'd like to know. We've got a pretty knowledgable group here - in my not so humble opinion ;) - and I'm sure someone will be able to answer your questions to your satisfaction. :thumbsup2

I cannot believe these remarks are being made into this big of a story - but the media was looking for the next Pastor/Tuzla gate so I guess they found it.

Let 'em! Let the idiots force Obama to give a "Poverty Speech" just like he gave a "Race Speech". My early prediction: Two days after the speech, John Edwards endorses him. :thumbsup2 (And James Carville has a coronary :lmao: )
