Obama supporters! - A positive place to talk about his campaign

I was just wondering what you Obama supporters think about the fact that I've heard that Hillary/Bill are gearing up to basically swipe the nomination from Obama, using the super delegates and even trying to get the pledged delegates (which she says aren't pledged) to swing her way and give it to her. Will you guys be outraged if she manages to pull this off? The only reason I'm asking is that I"ve heard that the Clinton's have more or less kept hold of the democratic party power wise, not sure how, but that's what I've heard, so I'm guessing that this is a definite possibility. I personally think it would outrage the Obama supporters and basically make them riot.:confused3

It won't thrill me, but it won't tick me off enough to vote for John McCain either passively or actively. IMHO,the greater evil would be to allow for what has been going on for the last 8 years to continue.

That's some news flash. Where did you hear that?;)
Why do you Nader/McCain supporters think riots are a possibility? :rolleyes1

Well I don't mean riot literally more figuratively speaking. And BTW I'm not a McCain supporter, don't really like any of them, more of a libertarian. Also, is it true Obama wants to spend something like 400 billion on foreign aid to Africa? Something else I heard, not sure if its BS or true.:confused3

That's not a new thought by any stretch of the imagination, the pundit's say it, the campaign's say it, what's new here? How we feel about it? Well, personally, it will be what it will be, but I support Obama and will continue to do so.

Have you guys been over to the Huffington Post this morning? :lmao: They are absolutely blasting ABC and the two idiots that moderated last night for such a ridiculous charade of a debate. Seriously...I haven't read a single blogger or article that praised the moderators for again bringing up all the silly season stuff instead of focusing on the issues we're facing as a country. Instead, they've basically blasted ABC "News" for lowering the bar on national journalism to a level that even Faux News might be able to clear.

Keith Olbermann has started asking the question that I think we're going to start seeing more and more as we move towards November. Rev. Wright...Rezco...the flag pin..."Bittergate"...The Weather Underground...Hillary and the Republicans have thrown everything they can at Barack, and he just keeps getting stronger and stronger. So...when will people (other than Keith) start the "teflon" comparisons to ol' Ronnie Raygun? Nothing these people have done seems to "stick" to Obama. It's gotta be frustrating for them. :lmao:

I'd first consider who told you this "fact." Do you trust them, respect them, know they would never tell you an untruth?
400 billion, huh? *Sigh* That number probably derives from the estimation from the CBO of the cost thus far of the Iraq war-400-440 billion. Basically take a real number, twist it, and start a little rumor. There's always someone who's going to want to believe anything.
Now if we look at that figure, do you really think any candidate would be "planning" to attempt to get congress to approve that kind of spending in a foreign country?

If this is true what are they waiting for? If they really had any power than all the super delegates would already be supporting Hillary. I think Hillary just wishes this were true.

If this absurd scenario did happen I would be unhappy but it would not get me to vote for McCain.

In case you guys haven't noticed, ALL of the media, I don't know of a single outlet, that isn't fixated on ONE thing and one thing only and that is trying to make a scandal out of ANYTHING, I'm no Obama supporter, but some of the so called faux pauxs he's made in speech I think are ridiculous to try and make some type of watergateesque scandal out of them, yet that's what they are trying to do.

Do you ever see ANY of the outlets have a news alert or anything on any policy issues, with the single exception of them reporting McCains thing on the gas tax cut, I honestly don't think I've seen them report on any of the issues and what the candidates think on the issues, its scandal scandal scandal, little 5th grade level rumor mongering.

There is such a thing as a war monger. The main stream news media is nothing but a bunch of scandal mongerors (sp?). There is hardly no real journalism anymore.

My favorite line from the debate last night:

And Senator Clinton's right. She has gone through this. You know, I recall when back in 1992, when she made a statement about how, what do you expect, should I be at home baking cookies?

And people attacked her for being elitist and this and that. And I remember watching that on TV and saying, well, that's not who she is; that's not what she believes; that's not what she meant. And I'm sure that that's how she felt a s well.

But the problem is that that's the kind of politics that we've been accustomed to. And I think Senator Clinton learned the wrong lesson from it, because she's adopting the same tactics.

If it happens, it happens. I don't think the Clintons are remotely the best and brightest folks the Democratic party offers. Beyond that, I don't think she's electable. If she ends up the nominee, we'll see...but win or lose, I think that would be her last chance at the presidency. If she doesn't get the nomination, we'll probably see Clinton pop up again in 2012.

As soon as news became entertainment and corporations owned all the news networks quality journalism DIED.

I agree, its almost totally dead. I guess there are still a handful of newspapers that still offer real journalism, but I don't know about any TV network, cable or otherwise. Its scandal for the politicians, and when they're not fixated on trying to make a scandal out of a mole hill, they are fascinated with whether or not Britney Spears or Paris Hilton went to the grocery store in a hot outfit showing off her bum.

Are you relatively new to the DIS or did you lurk a lot before you posted? I ask because what you post is pretty on the mark here, and I'm not familiar with your username... Regardless, you called it pretty accurately.

What I would have liked to have seen addressed last night?

The Columbian trade deal the POTUS has put forward and seems intent on passing into law, if only on his own. Has everyone educated themselves as to the plight of the Columbian workers?

Additionally, trade deficits, education, healthcare, and a myriad of other issues were NOT brought up. Not to mention only one minute allotted for gas prices and barely more than that to the 140,000 troops in Iraq. What about the GI Bill that McCain is not sponsoring? What about THESE issues? Those are the things important to Democrats, not whether somebody where's a flag pin. Neither candidate had one on last night.

My favorite line from the debate last night:

I missed the debate last night, but I'm glad I did - I talked to a friend of mine who is a Hillary supporter and one who is an Obama supporter and they both said it was a Hillary lovefest on ABC, to the glee of my friend who is a Hillary supporter.

But wow, that is a great line!

Hi, yeah loooooooong time lurker :lmao: Probably lurked for a year before I started posting.

BTW, I saw a poll this morning that was something like 77% Obama 23% Hillary for who they thought won the debate. Obama in a landslide. For whatever that's worth.

Well, from what I'm reading-I know who LOST the debate=The Voters. When they needed issues, they were handed garbage.

You mean you're not interested in going over and over the minutia of why, when, how, how many times Hillary talked about getting sniper fire? And exactly what did Obama mean by the statement, he's not really my pastor. These are cutting edge issues that effect average everyday americans dontcha know.;) Who cares about what policies they're going to inact, scandals bring such better ratings than boring ole policy questions. I'm surprised Hillary didn't get a "what did you think of Monica Lewinsky" question.

Yes, but you forget she actually agreed to outright knowingly, telling a lie, if Obama did this he'd be strung out to dry, but from her? No play at all... just "how defensive Obama was to questions that were meant to debase him :rolleyes1

SENATOR CLINTON: Well, Tom, I can tell you that I may be a lot of things, but I'm not dumb. And I wrote about going to Bosnia in my book in 2004. I laid it all out there. And you're right. On a couple of occasions in the last weeks I just said some things that weren't in keeping with what I knew to be the case and what I had written about in my book. And, you know, I'm embarrassed by it. I have apologized for it. I've said it was a mistake. And it is, I hope, something that you can look over, because clearly I am proud that I went to Bosnia. It was a war zone. "

Translated: She lied.

I really wish someone would ask her these questions: If it was such a dangerous war zone, why did you bring your daughter? Why would you put her in danger?

It's getting crazy out there.
