We're sailing out of NYC Nov. 2018...were wanting to stay for three nights in NYC before our cruise...looking for hotel recommendations. If you've sailed out of NYC where did you Star before the cruise?
Has anyone ever stayed at the Sheraton Harbor Hotel in Weehawken? It's right across from the cruise terminal and there's a ferry that takes you across...it takes you to pier 77 from what I've read. Not sure if it would be doable to walk to the Disney pier from this. Does anyone have any experience with this hotel? It's got a great view of the Manhattan skyline and is a good price.

I think you will get many more replies in the next couple of weeks. The cruises out of NYC are happening now in the upcoming weeks and cruisers will be coming back to post their experiences. We will sail on 10/14 and are staying in Times Square, but many I have heard are staying closer to the port.

Where are you staying in Times Square if you don't mind me asking? I'm considering staying in Times Square too...

Also cruising 10/14 !!! Yay!!! We stayed at Sheraton Lincoln Harbor and it was nice. We stayed there the night before the Fantasy came into NY for her MV. Yes I am a DCL nerd. We were not sailing on her that time but wanted to see her come into port for the first time.

Anyway, the walk is pretty easy to the port from there....as long as the weather is good...if not, just take a taxi to the port from where the ferry drops you off.

Heard good things about Kimpton Ink48 not far from the port and Times Square.

This link has some hotel choices:

Never stayed there.

My son lived in Hoboken for 5 years while he went to college there. Hoboken has one of the best Engineering Schools in the country. Stevens Institute of Technology. Ok proud Momma!

Hoboken is a happening and hip town. Best views of NYC. It's a charming city, very small and with great restaurants Your a ferry ride to the port of you can take the Path Train to subway etc. Home of the Cake Boss.
And Frank Sinatra's birthplace.

Time Square, I used work next to the Marriott Marquis, nice Hotel. There are a lot of smaller hotels around

DH and I recently stayed at a fantastic Boutique Hotel right off Times Square called the Sanctuary. We loved it! Good price.

We live in NJ, so we will be driving to port this Monday. We are also booked next October to Bermuda. I love DCL cruising out of NYC.

Good luck planning

We are staying at the InterContinental Times Square. Never been there, hope we like it! I will for sure report back with our experience about not only staying at this property but also getting to the port. We are a family of four with A LOT of luggage. We will not fit into a regular taxi. As of right now we plan to use UberXL or a taxi van if we can hail one. We have never been to NYC but we have traveled quite a bit and our girls are rock star travelers, so we will manage it.

There are several Hampton Inns in the vicinity of Times Square. Last weekend my parents were at the Hampton Inn Times Square Central which is pretty close to brand new. Super nice!! A couple of blocks further away there's a newish Hilton Garden Inn that is awesome as well. (I don't recommend the Hampton Inn Times Square North as much - it's fine, but compared to the new ones it is showing its age.)

The InterContinental *should* have a person or people who will hail taxis for you (or call for car services). If the Hampton Inn does (which it does), I'm 99% sure the InterContinental would. :)

Which cruise in October 2018. My husband and I are on the week of October 20th. My 61st birthday present to myself ;)

In Manhattan we stay at the Radio City Apartments. It is a hotel that has kitchenettes and the rates are reasonable for a Manhattan hotel. After the September 2017 Transatlantic, we actually walked there from the cruise terminal after we couldn't get a taxi.

We sail 10/24/18 to Bermuda.

The cruise this week was supposed to be a pre 30th Anniversary trip but then I booked the 2018 cruise.
So, I will call this one my post 55th Birrhday cruise. Lol

Early Happy Birthday wish!

Are there any NYC hotels that DCL would provide the transportation to port from like they do the MCO Hyatt?

As I understand, it is the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. It isn't a cheap hotel.
And you will pay for both "legs" of tranfers from airport to hotel and hotel to port. For this reason I am really considering an airport hotel with a shuttle, hop back to the airport in the morning and just arrange transfers from the airport to port.

If it wasn't so darned far away, I'd be all about staying at the new TWA Hotel at JFK when it's done. I may fly into JFK sometime just to visit and stay in the hotel. It's going to be amazing. I've always loved Eero Saarinen's work, and the old TWA terminal blows me away, so to be able to stay there will be incredible.
