I am not a big drinker. Currently I have a mixology class booked from 1-2 PM on day 2 with husband. Then from 3-4 PM i have martini tasting with my BFF.

I don't want to be drop dead drunk on our first full day. Does anyone know how many drinks you'd have in each class? Also any idea of the types of drinks made in the mixology class?

Wondering if should cancel one of them and try and reschedule it for another day while on board.

Mixology is 4 plus a shot if I remember correctly... They aren't full size, but still.

I don't do martinis (HATE olives - gross! Lol), so no clue there.

You get 5 drinks in the mixology, ours were full sized. Plus you may end up with some heavy pours. We did it last Jan on the Fantasy. Make sure you eat something before going. I was very tipsy afterwards. I'm not a big drinker, just 1 glass of wine with dinner so I wouldn't be able to do 2 classes in one day. You don't have to drink all of every drink, but the ones we had were all really good.

Yes, 5 full size for mixology. I passed half of some of the last ones to my husband and I was still pretty tipsy. 2 classes would be too much for me. It depends on your tolerance, I have a friend who does 2 in a night each cruise.

We made 5 drinks in our mixology class - full size. I only tasted them. That was plenty. Don't know about the martini tasting, though.

What drinks are made/taught varies, depending on the bartender running the class.

Martini is also 5. To be blunt, you will be wasted if you do both. On the one hand, at least you are not driving. :)

I once was in the Meridian having a couple of drinks and saw a Martini tasting. They were large pours and after the class folks were Frankenstein walking out.

You'll get 5+
to drink in each class. Plan on tasting and passing your non favorite drinks to your hubby to consume. And your BFF should plan to consume your reject martinis. You'll have a super fun afternoon!!!

I think it varies. During my most recent mixology class, we got four (or maybe it was five) "mini", pre-made versions of each cocktail.

For a "full size" cocktail, you had to be one of the chosen volunteers who got to make a cocktail during each round. You made the cocktail in front of the entire group / class and then got to drink the one you made.

The one before that, we got to make all of them and they were all full-size.

To be honest, even the class with the "mini" versions left us quite tipsy. I couldn't really imagine doing two classes AND drinking everything. If you just taste all the drinks and actually "drink" two or three in each class, you should be okay. Be sure to grab a snack before each class!

As others have said, I think the number is 5. I did a late signup for the class on the Dream earlier this summer. It was just one other couple and me. The couple arrived already pretty tipsy and had reservations at Palo shortly after the class so they ended up giving me most of their drinks as well. Cheapest drinks on the boat! Will definitely do it again!

Since you are not a big drinker, you might enjoy it more, and remember it (LOL) if you did not do them back to back. Whatever you choose- have fun!

We've always had 5 nearly full pours for tastings for: wine (both times), tequila (both times), beer, mixology (both times), chocolate/liquor, whiskey, cognac, martini, champagne. We did beer and tequila back-to-back once; literally had to run up the stairs from the beer tasting in the sports bar to get to the Promenade Lounge on time). I admit it was a little fuzzy by the end of the tequila tasting so I don't recommend doing them right back to back like that.

You can drink as much or as little as you want. Some people don't like some of the drinks as much so don't finish them or don't have a lot of tolerance for alcohol so don't want to get drunk. They're still the best value around and, if you really don't like something, you don't feel like you wasted money on it by not finishing one or more. I personally finish everything even if I don't really like it. After all, how do I truly know if I don't like it until I've fully experienced it :tilt: (this may be me afterwards).

I'm just saying - I can't handle more than one alcohol tasting in a day, let alone an afternoon. Our Mixology had five good sized drinks not premade, and we've done the Martini several times, and each time was I would say like a 2/3 size "bar martini". Too much for me for sure in one day.

We had 5 full size for mixology, 5 good size pours for whisky, and 3 pours plus a margarita for tequila, and 6 tasters for beer. All except the beer gave me a good buzz, so I wouldn't recommend doing two back to back!

Once we had 5 full size drinks plus one bonus (it was Merrytime version).
I pretty much needed a "goofy cab" afterwards. :moped:I remember walking out of mixology when it really hit me....
I managed to walk to deck 4 and planted my bottom on one of the teak chairs outside... I could not move for like an hour.
Finally I got up and went up to Cove Cafe to get some espresso :)
Felt much better after that...

If I went to another tasting... it would not be pretty :sad2:

You'll certainly be feeling no pain come dinnertime. I would drink a lot of water between the tastings, and probably eat a little too, that may help.

Yeah I think I've decided to try and move one of the classes to another day.

Thank you all for your help.

They have definitely increased the number of drinks. I found my pictures from the Dream in Feb of 2014 and it was 3 drinks and a shot - a mojito, a tequila sunrise, a cosmo, and a B-52. I've shut down my computer for the night but will post pics in the morning.

Exactly, and how were you feeling from just that ONE tasting?
