Hi,

we are thinking of booking our Disney Holiday for next year in November, I have been reading some of the other posts about this time of year and there seems to be a lot of holidays and events going on in this month.

can anyone give me dates and a bit more information on theses holidays and events please.

thank you

cal :)

Hi Michael thank you for your reply,

from your response I'm thinking I didn't make my post very clear, what I meant by holidays and events were holidays like Thanks Giving and events like the marathon's that would make the parks more crowded.
sorry for the confusion, but still info I can use so thank you :)

Google the holiday name and year. It should give out the date it falls on or use something like easywdw and view each month.

I'm assuming you aren't from the US.

We have two national holidays in November, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. Veterans Day is always on November 11, the anniversary of the end of World War I. Some, but not all schools are off that day. There are a number of military event around the country. This year, it's on a Tuesday, I believe. I don't think that's a big holiday as far as crowds at Disney.

The second major holiday is Thanksgiving. That is always the 4th Thursday in November. All schools and many businesses are off the following day (unofficially known as Black Friday). The four day weekend will draw the crowds. Some schools tKe off the preceding Wednesday as well. So many families go for the entire week, and the kids only miss two days.

Another thing I almost forgot: Election Day. Always on a Tuesday, and always on the day after the first Monday in November. Some schools will give Election Day off (I know it's a state law in Kentucky that schools must be off for Presidential elections). Some states (New Jersey comes to mind) will couple Election Day with teachers meetings. As a result, many Jersey kids are off for most of all of that week. Election Day week is now known as Jersey Week.

HTH.

There are a few things in November that make the crowds a bit heavier.

The Marathon
Food and wine (usually end in beginning of Nov)
Jersey Week (not sure if it effects crowds, some say yes some say no)
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving

Hi, thank you for your replies, it has really helped.

yes we are from the UK, we have been in November before in 2007 and we were there during Thanks Giving but I don't remember it being overly crowded, but maybe that's just my memory of it :)

we were originally thinking of going 30 Oct to 18th Nov so we avoided Thanks Giving but now I'm thinking 9th Nov -27 Nov and miss the first week in Nov which seems to have a lot going on and possibly be more busy, plus we will get to see more of the Christmas Decorations.
