November 9, 2008 4 day Wonder- who's in?

We will be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter 11/5-11/9 and then at Pop Century from 11/13-11/15.

ADR's can be made 180 days out, so we can make ours on May 10th.

Thank you for the warm welcome! :) Yes, I have 3 sons that will be with us. They will be 14,10 and 7 at the time of the cruise.

I honestly can't answer your question regarding the passporter yet. I just got it yesterday. I flipped through it a bit but I was too tired last night to really read it. Today my middle son has a 2 hr soccer practice so I plan to take it with me. I will post about it later. I can't wait until the cruise!

Yes I have 2 sons. They will be 13 and 9 by the cruise. My oldest son is really excited about all the food popcorn:: on the cruise, since we don't feed him enough here.:lmao:

Please keep me posted as to what you think of the passporter!
talk to ya later.

We are renting a condo at windsor hills nov 5-9.
Thinking of making a ressie for a character meal on our last night before the cruise. We have only been to chef mickeys. Any suggestions for older kids?:confused3 My mom hasn't been to disney in 30 years so I thought it would be a great prelude to the cruise.

Oh my goodness I know what you mean. I hope my 14 year old does not get sick from eating too much! He eats so much nowadays! I don't know where he puts it. He just keeps getting taller and taller.

I told my oldest son today that I might go ahead and hold the hotel room at Shades of Green (hotel inside Disney property for military..across from Poly) in case we do decide to go to Disney for two or three days before the cruise. They are booked early so I think I'm going to do that tomorrow. Oh and another reason I want to go to Disney is that I found out that weekend prior to the cruise is Super Soap Weekend. Many ABC Daytime soap stars will be there. LOL I have always wanted to go to that but have never had an opportunity. So if I were a betting person I would bet on us staying at :

Shades of Green 11/6-11/9 LOL

*If I'm able to find some inexpensive plane tickets that would make it much easier because I would not have to worry about the two days (one day each way) of travel.

I plan to hit Super Soap Weekend as well! I was excited that it would coincide with our trip. DH is a big General Hospital fan, so we're hoping to go on Saturday and get some autographs or see some cool things. I've followed along with him over the years but I could take it or leave it. He tivo's it every day though. It will depend on the actors who are there as to how much he wants to do. I saw a thread on SSW and they said the rides are pretty empty because everyone is at the SSW events that day (at least in DHS park). I plan to make an ADR for Sci Fi Diner for dinner that night :cool1:

AND Food and Wine Festival is still going on at Epcot before the cruise!!! I've been to that before and it was great. Definitely a must do for Thursday 11/6. I'm planning on booking Coral Reef for that afternoon or evening.

Oh I love General Hospital! In fact, that is the reason I want to go. LOL I would love to meet Steve Burton (Jason). I used to watch All My Children and One Life to Live but I haven't watched those in over a year.

Food and Wine Festival? Now that sounds interesting. LOL We went to Epcot for the first time the last time we were there and I loved it.

Lol, my husband's name is Steve Burton. I just got back from LA, we went and saw Ellen on Thursday, so if anyone watches you will see my mom and Ellen doing a lot of dancing.

We are staying at the Poly before the cruise and the animal kingdom lodge after. I have never been to either resort. I do not know what to book for ADR's. Does anyone know if the Christmas party will be going on while we are there?

Take care

Did your kids like Chef Mickey's?
I loved Chef Mickeys because of all the characters and the fun atmosphere. I asked my boys if they thought we should do it again and they said they would rather go to the golden corral:eek:  The food is "so so" at Mickeys but HE'S there:lovestruc !!! I love it when they come around to your table and get some great pic opportunities!! I guess my boys are getting to old and they don't have disney fever like there mom.

I *think* the first MVMCP will be the day we get off the cruise? Or the day after? I am still debating that one. It's a lot of extra money for 4 of us. It looks really neat on the special I saw on tv, and DLR doesn't do anything like that in terms of a special ticketed holiday event, besides Candelight Procession (which I have never done either). I have read some threads where people say it "isn't what it used to be" in terms of value. :confused3 I wouldn't know since I haven't been! It's tempting. I need to make a "firm" budget so I know exactly how much money I have already spent. :rotfl2:

Has anyone else been? Would it be worth the money for 4 of us? We don't "need" more time in MK, since much of it is very similar to DLR. Other than some rides that are unique to MK, and enjoying Liberty Square which we don't have- we won't feel we're missing out on anything since we got to DL monthly at least. :wizard:

My family is booked on this cruise. My hubby & I and my 2 daughters 6 & 4 yrs old. We are totally excited about the trip to.

Welcome dognut and caligirl2000!!! It is nice to see that we are getting a bigger group here!

I think if you go on DIS I remember reading some threads when I was considering going last year. I decided that for the money it wasn't worth it for us because my boys are so much older and since we had 7 day tickets we could go to MK several times (which we went 3 days) to get our fill.
Love that MK!!!:lovestruc

:welcome: dognut and caligirl2000!!! The more the merrier. Have you been on DCL before? Tell us about your trip plans!!

Well with a week away, has everyone decided on their final ADR's? I booked the MVMCP today, I called at 7 am and was on hold for about 35 minutes.
I am gettting a little nervous about my ADR's. Does anyone have advice about getting thru, or do you always get what you are looking for?

We also received a post card from mickey from the cruise ship. Disney sure knows how to keep the magic going. My DH actually sat down with me today to discuss our plans. He laughed saying it was 6 months away.

How much planning does everyon do? Reading the boards, I not sure if I plan enough.

Awww! A postcard from Mickey?? We didn't get one :sad2:

I'm a little nervous about my ADRs as well. My TA from DU said she'd book them for me- so she can be the one on hold I guess hahaha!!
So far I have planned:
11/6 Coral Reef lunch
11/7 Tusker House character bkfst
11/8 Sci Fi Drive In dinner

and for our split stay, after the cruise I'd like to book maybe Boma for dinner one night, and maybe something else as well. Does anyone have any experience with Boma? We are generally pretty adventurous with food. It just sounds pretty to go to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, anyway. Watching one of the Travel Channel specials, DH and I saw it. DH said, "why don't we upgrade to there? It looks great." Until I told him it wasn't exactly a $50/night upgrade...:lmao: Then he said, "Oh, well, I'm sure POR will be just fine.." HAHA!! I would seriously LOVE to stay at AKL, though. OMGosh.

I'm also a little nervous about making ADR's, since my parents *may* join us for part of our WDW stay, either pre- or post-cruise. I'd hate to make them, and then not be able to have my parents join us for our TS meals. I don't know how long it will be before they make an official decision. Knowing them, not until August at least for the November trip! Ugh. As you can tell, I come from a non-planning family...:rotfl: I do refuse to plan what park we will be in each day on our post-cruise part of the trip. I can't stand planning every little thing. I like some spontaneity! The uber-planning for dining etc is the one thing I really hate about WDW.

I guess that's why the cruise appeals to me so much!!!!!! Less stress, more pampering. :woohoo:

Christine

Christine, I'm with you on the planning dining thing. The only adr I make is for the character meals. Thats why the meal plan doesn't appeal to me. I would be stresses about every meal. I like to go with the flow when I am on vacation...I hate being commando mom. Its hard enought trying to fit everything in. Good luck to those of you planning ressies...hats off to ya!!:worship:
