November 4th, 2007 Disney Wonder Roll Call

Good morning kids......it's just another wonderful day in the neighborhood here in central PA.
I haven't gotten any answers to my Margarita/Tequila tasting post, so can't post any news on that.
Did anyone else here read the post from someone on the 9/23 cruise?
They had a "Double Dip" at Castaway Cay, and evidently starting in January 08 all 4 day cruises will be Double Dips. Maybe with a little luck they'll do a Double Dip on our cruise. DH would just love that. It would make his trip a total success. We shall see.

Weather is absolutely perfect here on the Jersey Shore as well. Just finished volunteering 2 hours at DD's school. Helped 4 teachers make thier copies for next week. Now I am running some laundry and websurfing.

Unfortunately, I can not join you on the Margarita/Tequila Tasting adventure. Wish I could! Sounds yummy! But meds I take prohibit having that kind of fun.

I would LOVE a Double Dip in Castaway Cay! How would they do that? Would we be informed prior to the cruise? Would that mean the would take away the Nassau day?

From what the poster from the 9/23 cruise posted, they didn't have the day at sea. They still had Palo brunch and other things that would have been on Sea Day, but they were docked at Castaway Cay and you could either get off the boat and "do" the island or stay onboard. The ship had to depart the island after the first day at Castaway and sailed around for the night then redocked in the morning.

Now, that doesn't mean that will happen with our cruise, but I sure wish it would.

This might be a silly question but what is Double Dip?. Does that mean we go to Castawy Cay twice.

Can't wait to our trip. We will have some much fun. 37 days to we sail.

Steph - Yes, Double Dip does mean two stops at Castaway Cay. I'm not counting on it though, evidently it was a trial on the 9/23 cruise, but we could only hope.

Good morning CometMom - isn't it a gorgeous day in New Jersey today! The humidity is finally gone (not to return till next summer, hopefully). Hubby and I spent alot of time thinking about Nassau excursions and booked Ardastra Gardens and Nassau City Tour (they are together). Ardastra has a really nice website you can check out (we like birds and other critters). From what I've read on DISboards the straw market sounds "kind of scary" with pushy vendors, etc. We will probably only do the one excursion and then go back on the ship. Hope this helps.

Zak'sPack2!!!!!!!! You never tasted a shot of tequila???!!!!!
Regular Mezcal tequila (especially the cheaper stuff) has a dry/bitter, almost acidic taste (according to my tastebuds). the better stuff, of course tastes better. Personally I like the Agave tequila the best. It is much smoother and not as acidic tasting. Honestly, I never minded the taste of the Mezcal. However after my daughter spent some time in Mexico and brought me a bottle of some good Agave I am in love with that.
If they do not have the margarita/tequila tasting, I would be honored to buy you your first shot of tequila.

COMETMOM: As far as what to do in Nassau, the last time my friend and I did a lot of shopping in the various shops in the downtown area, but I found that they had pretty much the same thing in each one. We also went to Atlantis for a little while, walked around the inside lobby area (which is huge) and did a little gambling in the casino, but then we did not have any children with us.
This time I have a "walking tour" plan that takes you to the historical areas of the city and I think we're gonna do that. It takes about 2 hrs to complete and I like walking around and seeing the "real" areas of the town, not just the tourist shops. Supposedly, there is a meeting spot in the central part of town where the city hosts guided walking tours at a minimal cost of around $5 or $10. You don't have to make advance ressies, just show up. We may decide to do that in place of going on our own. We'll just have to see what's up.

Nope, never have had a shot of tequila! It sounds pretty interesting, though... I may take you up on that tequila shot - my husband will be with the other hubbies cheering us all on. Where do you find navigators for our upcoming cruise?

You can find the navigators at the www(dot) CastawayClub (dot) com website. I can't type out the website address as it won't appear here, but insert the actual DOT between the w's and Castaway and between club and com and you should get there. Then just click on the word navigators in the center menu part of the page and then make selections to get to the 4 day navigators. You can also find all kinds of information on this site including copies of menus from the dining rooms.

Zak's Pak2 - we've gone to Ardastra twice - once through the DCL excursion and once on our own. I'd do it on your own. If you do it through DCL, you don't get to spend much time there. It's also cheaper to do it on your own. You can just get a taxi right off the ship and pay your admission at the gate. Ardastra is a lot of fun - feeding the lories is great.

The whole family is starting to get exciting now not just me. We are all doing the happy dance here on Long Island. We can't wait.

Just W O N D E R I N G......if anyone with early dining seating would be interested in "linking" dining seating to share a table. It is just DH & I, mid 50's, and we don't mind children.
In linking dining, I/you would contact disney cruiseline with the others reservation number and ask them to link the dining seating. They would then make sure that the parties are seated at the same table for supper each night. Tables are set up for anywhere from 4 to 8 or 10 (I believe), so any number that would fit would be welcome.

I've lost track of the ages of kids that are going on our cruise... Does anyone have any 11-12 year old boys or girls?? My son turns 12 on 11/3...what a nice Mom I am for giving him a cruise for his 12th Birthday!! Ha!!

Whew! I am even more excited now, if you can believe that.

We are flying in from CA on 11/1 and are staying at the Doubletree Suites for two nights prior to the cruise. Dd and I are doing the princess lunch on Friday and the kids want to do MNSSHP on Friday night.

Saturday night we're staying at the Residence Inn at Port Canaveral, where I'm hoping to get all of our laundry done. Our plan is to get to the port as early as possible, but we'll see how that goes. I think between the flight and the parks we'll be pretty tired.

Oh yeah...I have two kids (one is pictured in my siggie); my son is 10.5 and my dd will turn 8 the week after our cruise. We're hoping she can get into the lab as she'd probably be totally bored in the club. This trip is sort of an anniversary turned early birthday present. Anyway...I'm sure she'd love to meet up with the 8yo girl club. She's pretty outgoing...it's my son that I have to push.

I haven't started packing yet, but I have been doing some major damage in the stores. This is actually the perfect time to cruise, as most of the summer stuff is on clearance. Normally I'm not a bargain bin shopper, but I have converted!
