November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

Hi Everyone,

Did a little bit of shopping this week-end and got some of our postcards and now I am really starting to think about getting serious about the lists as well.

Does anyone know if on the ship if they offer the hair wraps for girls. I am thinking of the ones that they offer at WDW? I am not crazy about them getting the braids so I thought the wrap might be a nice alternative.

All you people getting ready to go on the cruise put me to shame. Haley and I are flying up to Connecticut on the 5th and come home on the 12th (that is exactly ONE month till the cruise DisNurse!!! :Pinkbounc ) and I haven't even begun to think of packing a thing. Why can't I be more organized so I'm not rushing around at the last minute?
I hope the hurricane season decides to end early now - I prefer to have zero excitement with storms while I am on my cruise.
Going to get ready for another night of great tv.. Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy! I'm such a junkie! :hyper:

let talk about the small things to pack.Does everyone have id holders for the kids? For those that don't drink coke are you bringing soda? Anyone bringing light sticks? For those shore days we may order room service the night before and pack sandwiches for the kids. We pack the kids clothes in the zip lock bags, gallon size and it allow us to store ice to keep some things cool when we go ashore. The gallon bags work better than the travel space savers .

Oh, yes! Must watch Desparete Housewives tonight! :cool1:

I heard from the owner of Captain Nautica (Parker...nicest guy and called me all the way from St. Thomas!). He had contacted DCL about DS's age and thay said they won't budge....I kinda' figured as such. So DH and I discussed it today and we will cancel DD's ressie and leave the kids on the ship! Can you beleive I will do such a thing? DS would be very sad if we just left him behind without big sister and I would feel sorry for him the entire time! So we are going to treat ourselves and just go alone. Only an afternoon and they will survive, I am sure. So Captain Nautica....here we come!

Yes...we are bringing snack items and LOTS of zip lock baggies...various sizes and rubber bands! Are you kidding, I have to lug an entire jar of creamy JIFF peanut butter with us (and jelly!) .....in addition to the entire case of Vanilla Soy Milk!
Yes...we need to buy light sticks and/or light up necklaces before we leave....thanks for reminding me! :sunny:

I still need to buy that darned (see through) over the door shoe holder that I have read about on these boards no fewer that 1,000,000 times!

FYI....I have now read it several times...the Kids' Lab/Club graduation show up on stage has been moved to Thurday night (was Friday, last night) due to popular request. I guess it causes people to rush off of CC to get your kids to the clubs by 4 p.m., otherwise they can't particiapte...it starts at 5 p.m. Everyone says this is not to be missed and they get a t-shirt and hat. We will definitely be there! So glad they moved this to Thursday night. :goodvibes

The hair wrap answer...yes they have them...same price as at WDW and no need for an appointment (braiding is much more popular). I speak to some of these items as if I have been on one of these cruises...I have just reseached a few of these subjects until my fingers are blue from the keyboard. Be forwarned, DD got a hair wrap at Animal Kingdom last Fall and it was a great one! So great, it lasted 7 months! She wouldn't let me take it out and by the time it started to "sorta" unwravel, the top part that had grown out was a dread-lock! It was then very difficult to unwrap and it was quite the talk of our family! :rotfl:

Will I get her another one when we are onbaord? You bet! :goodvibes She absolutley loved it and was worth the $35. :teeth:

Do the tall ship Adventures with us on ST Maarten, it will be more fun than Captain Nautica. Sonny Listion tours in ST Thomas will take you to coral world and they have the snuba that can be done there. The dollar store light sticks are pretty good and stay on for about 24 hours.

i can't think of any snack items (save some treats to share) that i will be packing-theres plenty enuf stuff on board for the kids to choose from. i do have a lime green (dis board green) lunch bag that i will bring along-they were giving them away free with purchase at the local supermarket.

no id holders for the kids-unsure what you mean by this? please advise.

i may look around for some type of glow item-sticks tend to just get set down, so i'm in the market for maybe sometype of necklace (or one of those electric neclaces that you can replace batteries in).

We are mostly pirate costumed (except awoltoday). Kids are pretty cute! Awol & kidsl still need formal wear, but I'll get the kids done this next week hopefully!

I'm still trying to think of a great AZ treat to share with everyone. The perfect idea will hot me soon. I have my postcards, but still need to write on them (or more lazily, print labels to stick on each one).

We got loads of glow items at the dollar section at Red Circle Boutique (Target) a week or two ago. They have lots with the Halloween stuff.

Hairwraps sound like a much better idea for us too! DD has hair that just doesn't frow. It is chin length & has only been trimmed 5 times in her 6 1/2 year life. So, we don't want to loose any from the braiding.

Am I missing something or do I not understand what is so great about Captain Nautica that is worth all the time/trouble that you have had to put into it? Must be an awesome excursion!

Time to start to do lists too!! I still have to buy a swimsuit. I HATE shopping for those & I put it off until I'll probably have to buy one at Everything But Water & pay $100+. I do have one, but I don't really care for it much. Any great place near the port that I should visit?

Good Morning - Awesome Sunday with Mother - no TV for me last night - up early to get out early this am.

Why the glow sticks - are these for pirates night - haven't heard about this item?

Do they not have peanut butter on board? I recal a discussion about this a ways back and did not pay attention as I do not have kids, but PNB is the must have dive food for me,s o I too willb e lugging a jar, I 'spect.

I did buy the over the door hange - but a small one....Be careful as the first one I purchased did not have enclosed pocket. The sides were open. They expected you to put shoes in it, I guess. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Everyone have a good day..... One day closer - WOW

Hey Gang,

We'll be sailing one week after you over T-Day. See the posts for Nov 19th!! We love the Eastern better than the Western. The best thing we've ever done is charter a cigarette boat in St. Martin and jet over to Angullia for the day, our kids were 7 and 9 at the time and loved it. It was beautiful.

We charted through www.offshoresunsations.com.

DisNurse - since we are flying now, we have a van picking us up and stopping at the grocery store on the way to the port. Do you want me to pick up your soy milk for you so you don't have to lug it on the plane? I wasn't sure how you were getting around once you got to Orlando so just wanted to offer as there is 7 of us to carry whatever we get! It's hard enough with suitcases going thru the airport!
You can get those glowing necklaces in a case of 50 from the Oriental Trading Company. I looked for anything smaller and they don't carry it. We'll just bring our little light that we got from the Magic Kingdom that goes round and round. I don't know why we need these - last time we were on this cruise we were in bed by 10 every night so we missed out on the late night fun! But not this time!

hey peanut butter fans-if you don't want to lug around a jar, skippy sells "squeeze sticks". the box has about a dozen sticks, each about 1 oz.. you just open at the top and it easily squeezes out.

i do know they have peanut butter on board-it's always right next to the jams and cream cheese at the toast/bagel bar each morning.

Remember? I was the proud starter of the infamous thread, "Do they PB & J
's on board?" I was so kindly lambashed by parents of kids with peanut allergies as to why it's so important that DCL DOES NOT have peanut butter...just those nasty excuses for a PB & J called an "Uncrustable". :guilty:

I was seriously flamed.....people even went off about their kids' diagnoses of autism as a sidebar. I just sat there laughing my head off :rotfl: reading people's soapboxes! :rotfl:

chip&dale&fun-dh starts refresher dives next weekend. he nearly keeled over in shock this week when he went to a couple of dive stores and found that new fins would run more than the excursions you've booked! he decided to just take his old ones, and maybe check out prices in florida.

Oh DW, it was more than just MORE. The dive booking was $80.00 with around $15 in rental fees making the total $95. The fins were 179.00 before taxes. Making them twice as much as the dive. I DON'T think so!! Or as I now so fond of saying... "I think not, therefore I am not."

Well with all of interesting topics of discussion, we have officially sold out the Disney Magic on 11/12/2005! I am so glad I didn't wait for the agent rates to come out! I would have been sending Ben's family without us! I just called to see if I could switch something and being the nosey girl I am asked about availability! So whoever is out there lurking... it's time to come out - I know you're out there!!!! :teeth:

Guess my brother & his family definitely aren't coming with us now (not that we didn't already know that even though they haven't officially said so). They say they are still holding out hope until the last possible moment.

well there is a change to our plans (dh are you listening cuz you don't know yet). we will be staying at the Radisson the night before the cruise! i was able to get a much better rate than they prev. offered (and not too much more than best western), so we will be there!

Cool! So, how many of us does that make now?? We'll have to make sure we get our day at Kennedy started early so that we can get back in time to meet up with you all!
