November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

Ok, so I got my oil changed today, also had them look at the car. Sometimes I can't get the car to start. SOunds like its going to, then doesn't. Almost like it needs gas?

So they of course, can't reproduce the problem. BUT this time they gave me a "black box" flight recorder plugged into my car's computer system. i have to press the button if it doesn't start so they can see why. Ah, the technical crap!

Also dropped the dog off to my friend's house. poor thing was shaking when I left. but that could be because its cold and very windy and he just got a haircut!!

Just about done packing. Just the last minute stuff to throw into bags. Its also just about 3pm, so I can go online and print my boarding tickets for AirTran now! Whoa! That means we leave in about 24 hours~! OMG!!!

And not only did I have to take Syd to the dentist about her tooth yesterday, but I literally JUST broke a piece off my back tooth about 10 minutes ago!!:scared1: Now the fact I bought the temporary dental filling stuff to have on the ship doesn't seem too far fetched!! UGH Why always before we leave??

And Tigger: I am having Sinus issues too. Hoping that it will go away soon, but packed a bunch of sinus medicine none the less!!

If I don 't get back on before I leave, see you all REAL soon!!!:yay:  :dance3:

to bring a lot of extra of the temporary dental filling with you ...I used it recentlky and it tends to come out. I guess i'll just have to keep posting with Tigger since we're almost at the goal and people are dropping from the board like flies...for a good reason...they're leaving yea

Tina...I have to work through Thursday tooo....I've mentally checked out also.

Three more work days, and a half day of school with DD11! I can't believe our ticker is under five days! I remember when it was in the hundreds.

Came out of hallway of lab rooms(NO WINDOWS) and saw the white! DD teacher still has not sent work home for the trip. Not sure if she will at all. Can not wait until Wednesday night for the game. Guess we will be buying our shirts on way to airport. Thought I was done packing last night then DH asked if we have enough room for gifts? on weight yes, over all space so-so. to night have to get 5th bag and move items into it. I will be doing that while watching Charlie Brown to night. See you all on Saturday:woohoo:

Getting ready to close up shop.:cool1:

Only 2 more work days left when I go home.

I have to make some employee decisions by tomorrow. (cut backs)

Not so fun. Cant wait to not think about all of this.

I am only working until about 11:30 to come home and finish packing while DD is still at daycare...another emotional dropoff again today...this time I offered to pay her $1 if she didn't cry and had a good day!! Unfortunately, she didn't take a nap..guess that is another dollar in the momma pile. :lmao:

Neighbor kid came over and got the key to the house and last minute dog duty instructions...wow it really is getting close!

I have sooo checked out at work...we just found out that we are merging with another company and everyone is stressing!! Vacation could not have come at a better time!!

Sun and relaxation here we come!!! party:

Pluto's Pup,
Thanks for the thread with the info on the car rental return. Was wondering what we had to do.

Almost packed!!!!
Still a long list of things to do but not complaining just happy to get away from the SNOW:scared1:
My friends, we are in for a tough winter if it is already snowing in OCTOBER!!

See you all on Saturday

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :cool1: :cool1:

Yep, dental filling stuff already came out. Think my tongue is going to be sore by tomorrow. UGH.

DD brought home her homework. Her teacher will be "leaving" while we are gone to have her baby, so went we get back she will have a permanent sub until January :sad2:

Online checkin completed and forms printed to be processed at Terminal Check-in. Dude...:woohoo:

No snow here, but freakin cold and ready to fly south for the....week or so...

2 bags completely packed, and weighed. 40 pounds and 33 pounds! So far no extra charges!! :woohoo:

Well, gotta go. Biggest Loser is on and I need to see it! I'll miss it next week!!

See ya real soon!!!:yay:  :dance3:

Now after all of the planning stressing and packing, I'm wishing we had another week or so to wait. My eyes have started giving me trouble. I wear contacts, disposable...and I don't wear glasses. Well my contacts started causing my eyes to get really dry and the contacts stick to my eyes...and I will spare you the gory details...so now I have to find an eye doctor tomorrow and try to remedy the situation, so that either means new lenses, or glasses...eeek! At this point, I just want to be able to see on vacation, doesn't matter how....wish me luck...
How many more days....??? :lmao:

There was a thread on the main boards that had a link to some travel feedback site which had mixed reviews. It really becomes subjective sometimes. Some people will do an excursion and absolutely love it while others will report a horrific time. There is only lady who cruises all the time, Barb, and she gave Botswain a good review. We are switching our plans to the Island Tour with Butteryfly farm. That way we get to see the turtles and the butterflies.

Thanks, nobodycares! You are right on the money... one person's perfect excursion could be another person's bomb. We did the island tour two years ago, and from my humble opinion, I think you chose the right one. We did the island tour that included a ride in a semi-sub out to stingray city. Of all the stops on the tour, that was probably our least favorite. We transfered from our bus to this semi-sub/glass bottom catamaran, sailed out to stingray city (which was a good distance), only to watch a diver interact with one or two stingrays. Was a pretty lame stop, or so we thought. Butterfly farms are always fun. We've been to several on different cruise excursions and have never been disappointed. As for our Boatswain adventure, I may search on the main boards for some more feedback, but for now, will probably hang on to these reservations.

One more work day here... we leave bright and early from Newark on Thursday. We're almost done packing, just cosmetics mostly. After the snow today, like everyone else, we are more than ready for the warm Carribean sun (and hopefully warm Florida sun!!).

Safe travels everyone!

The wind is really whipping tonight! We didn't have any measurable snow, but it certainly is cold and windy. Just a few more days... sunshine, warm temps, palm trees, and blue ocean water! Where's my suntan lotion?!

:surfweb:

Morning all! Headed for yet another day at work. So tired.... I've been trying to get all my hours in for the week, so it's been 10-12 hour days for me. There's just not enough time in the day. *yawn*

I know I AM!

I brought out my winter coat to walk the kids to & from school.

I will finish up the last minute packing today. I am going to finish my magnets too.

Have a great day everyone!

Another day at work... another day of daydreaming! DW did a lot of packing yesterday. Thanks to her we're just about ready. Two more work days, and a half day of school. We're in the home stretch now!

We're not quite at the winter coat stage here in Houston. But, the temperature did drop off a little bit last night so that our A/C finally shut off! :lmao: :lmao: Ugh, sometimes Houston is just TOO hot.

:cloud9: Getting so excited, but I'm also going into panic mode for things I haven't done yet. :scared1: But I'm always like that.

Well, glad to see we are all up and ready to go!! Bring on the sunshine!

Finished all the packing yesterday, just have to toss in my makeup and all this morning. DH will pick up DD from school around 12 and then come home and off we will go to Florida!! :goodvibes

Got boarding passes, bags checked wiht magical express tags, all my transfer coupons and tags, passports, park tickets (ALMOST FORGOT THOSE!!!) That would have totally sucked!

Mail has been stopped, just need to clean up the house some to keep ants away while we're away! They like to move inside in this weather!

Talk to you all soon!

OMG...we are so close and I'm having panic attacks of ...."where did I pack???" already....DS14 and DH STILL HAVE NOT brought me downstairs their clothes, told them I'm leaving without them. Frankly, not a bad idea. One more day of work for me. 1 1/2 days of school for kiddos. Not taking DS7 out until we are on way to airport, he'll drive me nuts. DS14 out early tomorrow as to help me take the 2 "horses" we call dogs to kennel. At 120lbs each, I need muscle.
I have some last minute cleaning to do upstairs as so that bathrooms and beds smell/feel fresh when we return. I usually squirt toilet cleaner in bowls and leave it there while gone so water doesn't smell funky.
I'll keep checking the weather until we board....50% chance it seems all week...Does that ever mean anything other than "well we have no idea what it's gonna do?"

No problem CruizinTiger - I look forward to hearing your review of Botswain. I took the island tour years ago and am looking forward to repeating it with DD so she can go to see the turtles. One of the other reasons I switched my excursion plans is that I think we are going to do Chanakaba in Cozumel and it sounded like the 2 parks are similar with pools and snorkling. I hope you have a great time at Botswain. I tend to balk at booking any glass bottom tours - as I can never really see a darn thing through the thicked scratched windows.

DH and DD are finally really enthused. They keep counting down. DD told me today that "tomorrow we will be leaving tomorrow". We still disagree whether it is 2 or 3 days left. I say 3 - wed, thurs and leave Friday. Gonna start finally putting all the piles of stuff into the suitcases tonight.

Had to laugh about the dental repair stuff. I broke a filling on the way to Disney World one time and had a sharp, ragged tooth all week. DH discovered the magic dental repair stuff when his crown came off this year. In my over preparation, I just bought a jar of the stuff 2 days ago. Dental insurance for $4.95.:lmao:

I've been afraid to look at the weather reports.

Last year on our cruise the reports called for over 50% chances of rain and showers and we had the absolute most beautiful weather all week without a drop of rain.

As long as it isn't like the nor'easter we just suffered through, we'll be fine.

We've waited too long for this to have weather spoil our fun.

I'd be posting away today.

I gotta feel better by the time I hit the airport on Friday. :woohoo:
