November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

Hi all! Getting very excited. Question. When do you put on the luggage tags? We are flying in the night before, so I should probably just put the room tags on right as we drop off the luggage at the port. Is the luggage drop off kinda like the airport or do we keep all our luggage with us until we check in at the port? Kinda lost on how the process will work once we arrive at the port. Could someone explain?? Thanks!

The cats know something is "up" they are stuck to us like glue.
That is the only thing I hate about leaving for vacation. I just worry about the "babies".
One trip my neurotic cat licked all the fur off his belly and the front of his front legs.
We took him to the vet and he said it was because he probably had a lot of anxiety about us being gone, and that was how he dealt with it.:sad1:
So now when we go we have someone do more than just clean their box and give them food and water every day. We have someone come and sit and watch tv with them and hang out a little. :rolleyes1

We pay the neighbor kid to come over and watch TV with our dog. The dog we had previous a different neighbor kid would spend the night so he would not be by himself...the things we do for our 4 legged babies...:dog:

Our dog sat on my lap last night while I was packing...do you think he was trying to tell me something  Now he is laying on the office floor right next to the suitcases...is he blocking them or protecting them?? :lmao:

Cats are trying to sleep in suitcase :cat: ( packing lint brush, just in case I forgot to close one in time )
Dogs are running to front door every time I grab my jacket as to say "Are we going to the Doggie Spa yet?" :dogdance:
Turtles are even acting funny as to say....AAAAHHH, quiet time finally, no kids poking at us daily and we have live fish to eat :fish:
:lmao: :lmao:
I have to just get all the DS14's and DH's casual clothes packed and we are golden.

I dropped DD off at daycare (she goes to an in-home daycare she loves) and she started crying as soon as I walked out the door...:sad1: when I asked her why this evening she said she just wanted to be with me...how sweet is that?!?!?!?:lovestruc I just hope that her nerves calm down once we get there and she takes the time to enjoy herself...here's to keeping my fingers crossed.:goodvibes

Just a quick PSA....

I got the HE detergent at our local Super Walmart. Kinda tucked away, in a plastic clear "bag" They are called "Dropps" and they had dye/scent/free as well as regular. You just add one or two dropps per load (kinda like larger versions of the diswasher gel pacs...)

They come in a bag of 20 (not sure if there are other sizes). Don't think there are washer police checking on what detergent you use, but soap may not get out of your clothes if you use the regular soap in the HE washer.

THen again, what do I know. I have a regular washer AND I'm going just purely on rumor that the washers and dryers have just been replaced (which would be great, IMHO!!!

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled packing!!!!

THOSE...were the ones I picked up....Thank you, could not remember the names of them. Looks like we'll have plenty to share if need be, can't imagine doing 10-20 loads of laundry onboard.

Have a safe trip to those that are traveling tomorrow! While you're enjoying your first day of vacation feel free to snicker at we poor slugs still at work:lmao:

Is there short time parking at the port? I am thinking of droping family off and checking in before returning rental car to Avis. Then getting shuttle back just for myself.

Recently, there was some discussions regarding shore excursions. I read a number of people comment that there were "mixed reviews" about the Grand Caymen excursion to Boatswain park. Our group of 8 have this excursion booked, and since it was not an inexpensive excursion, I'm a little concerned. Should I be? Does anyone have any specific feedback regarding this excursion that might be useful to know?

Packing began this past weekend in our house. We'll have a five bags for our family of four. My in-laws are driving down from NJ to meet the ship, and will be taking one of these bags for us. We can't wait till we leave for WDW on Thursday morning...

ok = kids clothes are packed. DH's clothes are packed, my clothes are packed...now 3 nights to get the toiletries and other non clothes type items packed.....we're way ahead of where we usually are for vacation...i'm so afraid of forgetting something....safe trip for all those leaving tomorrow...I'm one of the slugs that will be at work through Thursday.

See you all on the Magic. I may check in on this thread from WDW, but if not I'll meet you on Saturday!

We almost made it to 60 posts yesterday.

Maybe we will reach 2500 posts by Friday!

While there isn't "short term parking", there is a drop off location at the port. I haven't done this, but I've seen it mentioned on the main cruise board.

I really want dh to see the kiddos reaction as they enter the check in area.

I gotta bring this point up to him this am. I think I would rather have us all go to check in so dh can see the excitement through their eyes!:rotfl2:

We just saw a political ad urging us to vote for a dead State Senator! No joke. They talked about his untimely death, and funeral, and urged viewers to vote for him "one more time". Hmmm... well I guess he couldn't vote himself another midnight payraise.

I need to get away from this nonsense, and sail the high seas!

I was watching the West Wing Marathon yesterday and there was a senator who passed away & was still on the ballot.

Just 4 more days til no more political ads that I have to hear! I am so glad to have CID. It's amazing how many phone calls have nothing of interest for me!
