November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

We're renting a car when we get into Orlando on Friday. My DH is dropping us off at the port and he'll be returning the car while we're all checking in. Last time we cruised this went rather smoothly. My DH was dropping us off and back to us via the car rental shuttle in no time.

I figured since we are flying and Dkiddos can't ask that question every 30min in car...I would ask my fellow DIS'rs.....SO ARE WE THERE YET?
2 more days of work....2 more nights of BEGGING DS14 and DH to get stuff down so I can pack it into suitcases. 2 more nights of animals into EVERYTHING..2 more days of watching political ads and wanting to throw something at TV..
BUT.....TONITE... the Phillies should take game #5(x2 due to rain out last night) in the World Series and I should be able to wear my Championship Shirt on plane Thurs. night...

Ok we are leaving tomorrow and I still have nothing packed! I am getting a little nervous! There are not enough hours in the day! It is cold and rainy here in NJ so I can't wait to fly out of here tomorrow! Looks like my son's soccer game is not happening this evening due to the weather and might think about having my daughter skip dance so I can start packing. Hope everyone has safe travels and we will see you all on the ship!

We live in Central Jersey and I'm staring at snow falling outside the window of my home office (and its sticking)!!!! This cruise could not have come at a better time!!

Recently, there was some discussions regarding shore excursions. I read a number of people comment that there were "mixed reviews" about the Grand Caymen excursion to Boatswain park. Our group of 8 have this excursion booked, and since it was not an inexpensive excursion, I'm a little concerned. Should I be? Does anyone have any specific feedback regarding this excursion that might be useful to know?

There was a thread on the main boards that had a link to some travel feedback site which had mixed reviews. It really becomes subjective sometimes. Some people will do an excursion and absolutely love it while others will report a horrific time. There is only lady who cruises all the time, Barb, and she gave Botswain a good review. We are switching our plans to the Island Tour with Butteryfly farm. That way we get to see the turtles and the butterflies.


As for this weather, here is South Jersey it is just cold, rainy and miserable. Shocked at reports of snow from our northern counties. This could be an ominous indicator of the winter to come this year. We've had a string of mild winters (ever since I bought that darn snowblower) but snow in October doesn't bode well.

Thanks for the weather reports from Pluto's Pup - I've been afraid to peek as to our cruise weather.

I have been busting on all my students today who are still wearing their Yankees and Mets gear....told them they all get extended detention if they wear it in my lunch room again.....
Game got postponed until Wed. night due to rain.....thinking this is a strange omen....Airport could be very ugly come Thurs night depending on outcome.

Ok, so I got my oil changed today, also had them look at the car. Sometimes I can't get the car to start. SOunds like its going to, then doesn't. Almost like it needs gas?

So they of course, can't reproduce the problem. BUT this time they gave me a "black box" flight recorder plugged into my car's computer system. i have to press the button if it doesn't start so they can see why. Ah, the technical crap!

Also dropped the dog off to my friend's house. poor thing was shaking when I left. but that could be because its cold and very windy and he just got a haircut!!

Just about done packing. Just the last minute stuff to throw into bags. Its also just about 3pm, so I can go online and print my boarding tickets for AirTran now! Whoa! That means we leave in about 24 hours~! OMG!!!

And not only did I have to take Syd to the dentist about her tooth yesterday, but I literally JUST broke a piece off my back tooth about 10 minutes ago!! Now the fact I bought the temporary dental filling stuff to have on the ship doesn't seem too far fetched!! UGH Why always before we leave??

And Tigger: I am having Sinus issues too. Hoping that it will go away soon, but packed a bunch of sinus medicine none the less!!

Man, feels like I'm burning the midnight oil here and it's only 3 pm! I'm one of the ones going to work through to Thursday. How am I going to be able to get anything done? My mind has already gone on vacation.
