November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

Segway races down the Castaway Cay runway!!!!!! Sign me up!

I heard they now have Segways at Fort Wilderness with "off road" tires. I wonder how they would be on the beach, or other area at CC?

DW & I are psyched to do our EPCOT Segway tour next week. I'll let you know how it went. Right after the Segway tour we're going horseback riding at FW with DD9. Can't wait!

I thought that it would be fun to email DCL and see what they have to say about a segway shore excursion on CC. Here is their response:

Thank you for your interest in a Disney Cruise Line Vacation!

Due to the beach sand and salt air, Segways are not an option on
Castaway Cay. We do provide a tram service near the Post Office that
goes across the island to the adult beach area. It's about a 3 minute
ride.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

Only 473 days to change their minds!!!

Well, we're getting a little closer to the cruise everyday. I want to go now!!! This is a good test in patience, I've never booked a cruise this far in advance.

How are all of you fellow cruisers doing?

Well, our WDW vacation is over, and now I can concentrate on our upcoming cruise!!!!!!!:cool1:

#1. EPCOT Segway tour is GREAT! Now I know what Castaway Kev is excited about! I'm sure the salt air at Castaway Cay might affect Segways, but with the new all terrain Segway tires being used at FW there might be hope for CC.

Swimming Championships are Saturday morning at Bucknell Univ. DD9 has four events. She is confident with no worries, meanwhile I'm a nervous wreck. I'm sure with all of her swimming she'll be ready to find the sunken Mickey at Castaway Cay!

Hope you had a great trip plutospup. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the segways. DH (CastawayKev) is still trying to change DCL's mind. He said that he thinks they really can have them on the island because he's either heard of or seen some CM's use them to get to their private areas.

449 more days. I know it still seems so far away, but now it is August and the days keep counting down!

449 more days... and the days keep counting down!

WooHoo! Soon I'll be able to book airfare, and precruise hotel! Ok, I'm just a little obsessive:lmao:

There use to be Segways on Castaway Cay. Passengers, for a nominal fee, used an area on the dock next to the ship. At WDW there is a new Segway tour at Fort Wilderness. The FW Segways have different tires. They are similar to a mountain bike tire. I'm sure they would be perfect for Castaway Cay! We need to start a Castaway Cay Segway thread!

You're not the only one who is just a little obsessive. Last week DH and I were trying to decide which DVC property to stay at before the cruise and which day to arrive in FL. We can't book it until December, but it is fun to plan. I also took a look at delta.com to see about using our frequent flyer miles and it looks like those come out about 330 days in advance. So I can try to plan, but it appears things will be more set in December.

Greetings everyone!

I'll be cruising with you all on the Magic on November 1st 2008! :woohoo: My husband and I will be cruising with my parents and my brother. We can't wait!! We booked through Dreams Unlimited and all the deposits are down (phew... for 5 people those deposits sure can add up!). We've got 3 staterooms and I'm actually glad it's over a year away... it gives me more time to pay it off. :rotfl2:

I was also looking into plane tickets and wondering about prices, but I didn't realize that I can't book those this far in advance. This will be my second cruise, and my parents' first. Our first cruise was in October 2004 for our honeymoon.

Only 435 days to go!! Can't wait! :cool1:

Welcome tinapomp! Glad to have you aboard. Was your first cruise on Disney as well?

I wish 2008 would get here sooner! January will be the baby (we get to find out what it is on Monday!!!) and then November will be the cruise. I'm looking forward to a great 2008!

Welcome aboard Tinapomp! Glad to have you along.

Thanks everyone! :yay: I'm so excited, I can't wait! My first cruise was also Disney. I was on the Disney Magic to the Western Caribbean. We had thought to do the Eastern Caribbean this time, but since my parents have never cruised before we gave them the choice of where they wanted to go. So it's back to the Western Caribbean for us again. I'm going to love it! 2008 can't get here soon enough!

stampinshauna - Congrats on the baby! That's so exciting. :goodvibes

Our first cruise was October 2004 on the Magic to the Western Caribbean as well. Was yours the week before Halloween or was it the beginning of October? Maybe we were on the same cruise. When we went, we didn't get to go to Grand Cayman due to hurricane damage, so this cruise will be our first trip there.

We very well could have been on the same cruise! That's wild! We went the third week (If I'm remembering correctly) in October and we also didn't get to go to Grand Cayman due to hurricane damage. I remember I was SO bummed because we were supposed to go diving there and I really was looking forward to it. They re-routed us to Costa Maya instead and I wasn't impressed at all. :sad2:

My husband and I got married on October 9th, and the next week we spent a week in Disney World and after that it was a 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean on the Magic. It was amazing!

Was your cruise in the beginning of October? That would be cool if we were on the same cruise!

Yep! We were on the same cruise. It was definitely a fun one, but we too were not impressed with Costa Maya. I'm sure looking forward to Grand Cayman. Let's just hope that the hurricanes are kind to our itinerary next year.

Happy Monday Everyone!

Well, the DCL reservation people are smart. When we booked this cruise in January, we had them add a baby to the reservation because we knew there would be a good chance that we'd have one by the time next November comes around. On the reservation it shows the birth date TBA, but does list the baby as a Miss not a Mstr. Well, today's ultrasound said IT'S A GIRL.

Sailor Minnie Mouse ears for your daughter! Congrats!

Fast forward 10yrs...We just returned from meet the teacher night. Earlier today our normally very quiet & shy girl went crazy deciding what to wear for Meet the Teacher:rotfl: It's a frightening sign of things to come:lmao:
