November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

Woo Hoo!!!

I'll be curious to see what happens when the Magic goes into dry dock before our cruise. They always add something new!

Well the kids are out of school and summer here in NJ has officially started. My son graduated kindergarten and the year went by so fast I can only hope that the next school year goes just as fast so that the cruise will be here before we know it! My husband and I went to Disney for the weekend two weeks ago and on Sunday while we where waiting for the Magical Express to take us to the airport the cruise guy was walking around rounding up the next cruisers for the Disney Wonder. I was so sad :sad1: that it wasen't me!!:sad2: Hope everyone enjoys their summer and we will have to have a one year celebration party when Nov. 1st 2007 arrives!:cool1: :woohoo: :yay:

Happy Summer Vacation everyone!

Oh, yes, I do remember DD's kindergarten graduation. The boys and girls were so proud! They just couldn't figure out what to do with those funny hats, though. However, they did enjoy playing with the tassles!

We're busy with swim team this summer. DD has also been practicing with her mask and snorkel in our backyard pool. I keep telling her that by next year she'll be able to snorkel out to the sunken Mickey at Castaway Cay!

jblb1020...I'm looking forward to the one year celebration party 11/01/07!

It sure feels like summer around here. Weather is in the 90s and was 100 on Saturday (too hot!!!). I'm wishing that I had a nice sea breeze blowing through right now. November 2008 seems too far away!!!

wow, just started thinking of our next trip to disney (in november 08)
yes i am a jersey Dad.
i noticed this thread and was just curious what it would cost (about)
for a family of 5 (economy) to join your trip?
3 kids, 10, 8, and 4 and wife and me of course.
is this a land and sea trip of a full 7?

never did a cruise, dont the kids miss the rides?

DD hasn't missed the rides on our Disney cruises. There are many things for the kids to do, and they still get the characters, and Disney stage shows. I find it to be a Disney vacation without the stress of getting on all of the rides, doing the waterparks, fighting the crowds, etc. DD enjoyed our cruises when she was 4, 5, &6. Each time we enjoyed different experiences. Our next cruise she'll be 11, and she's already looking forward to new things including parasailing with Dad!

How much does it cost? Two options with a family of 5. Cat 4 stateroom that handles a family of 5, or two lower category connecting staterooms ($$wise this sometimes is the better deal and you get extra bathrooms!) To get an idea check out www.disneycruise.com and go to reservations. Follow through to the end to get an idea of the approximate cost, however, stop before typing in credit card info.

This is the place to be for Disney Cruise info! If you have any other questions we're here for you!

This cruise is a 7 day Western no land included unless you book it yourself in addition to the cruise. My children where a month shy of 3 and 5 the first time we cruised and they did not miss the parks at all. Feb 2007 we did the 4 night cruise and then 3 nights in Disney World and the kids would have rather stayed on the cruise. Nov. 2008 we will be doing 3 nights in Disney before the cruise and then the 7 night cruise. Welcome aboard and if you have any more questions just ask and we will be happy to help!

If you're trying to cruise with your family of 5 on a budget, definitely get 2 inside rooms instead of a category 4. We've cruised Disney 3 times and we don't mind the inside, in fact we've booked another inside room (cat 11) for this cruise.

We just booked another room for this cruise--for my mom. So our crew will be My sister, her DH, and 2 kids (DD5 and DS7 at the time)
My mom
DH, me, and our soon to be Disney addict (will be 9 months at the time)!

Anyone know why the title of this thread doesn't say (c o m e) sail away anymore? It replaced the (c o m) with ***

I don't know for certain, but it has happened throughout the board. I think that it has something to do with filters.

By the way, I'll be cruising with you (and my DW StampinShauna) as well.

7 months till the baby c-o-m-e-s and then just 9 months until the cruise!!!

Congratulations! A new DCL cruiser! Best wishes to your growing family!!

As for the thread title, it still says " November 1, 2008 Come Sail Away!" on my computer. Actually I stole the idea from a 1978 Styx song of the same name.
Update: It looks like the problem has been fixed: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1494340

Thanks! We haven't even told anyone in my family yet, so consider yourselves the firsts to know.

I finally took a minute and read through the thread. Thank you all for your kind thoughts about the Segway. I think that I will just need to keep wishing on a star for that dream to ever come true.

Last time my wife and I took the Western Cruise on the Magic we didn't get to stop at Grand Cayman (as it was hit by a hurricane).

I am thinking that I'd like to try scuba diving at Grand Cayman or Cozumel. Has anyone ever been diving at either of these ports? Which is better? Is it better to do an excursion through the ship or go out with a local diver?

Thanks for any replies!

Although I've never done it, I'm told Cozumel diving is outstanding. I've snorkeled in Grand Cayman, and Coz, and both were great. DD9 has become quite the snorkeler in our backyard pool. She even learned the proper way to clear it after she dives. Hopefully, we'll be able to snorkel at Castaway Cay and see the sunken Mickey!

We're going to WDW in two weeks. I plan on doing the Segway tour in EPCOT. I can't wait!!!!

Less that 16 months until our cruise!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts about the Segway. I think that I will just need to keep wishing on a star for that dream to ever come true!
I believe that's the "second star to the right".

Hooray for less than 16 months. Won't it be nice when we are under the year mark. Every night I'm wishing that I was on the ship--we have a hard time deciding what to have for dinner. I love that on the ship you have about 5 choices each night and they are all yummy.

I just logged into my reservation through DU and just wanted to let you all know...

:cool1: Only 484 more days until we set sail!!!:cool1:

It seems so far away...:sad2: But I guess we all have to patient. I was looking on the Port Canaveral Web Cam and there was a great live shot of the Disney Wonder in port. How wonderful for the people that are sailing away today!

I heard that Disney has been doing some construction on the runway at Castaway Cay. That made me think, wouldn't Castaway Cay be a great place to take a Segway?!?!

What do you think?
