November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

We're planning on arriving on Friday as well - I just don't know what we're going to do about trick or treating. Maybe trade DD for a hotel with a pool?? She doesn't like candy all that much anyhow.

DH suggested MNSSHP for the 31st, but that's got to be a MADHOUSE. I don't think we want to arrive that exhausted. :headache:

This is going to be a tough decision! I asked my kids (BIG Mistake) and they want to still have Halloween regardless of where we spend it. I am thinking of maybe leaving Thursday and then being able to just do Halloween in the Magic Kingdom and join the rest of the crowds. I will have to research it further and see what airfare etc. will be when we get closer. We have plenty of time to decide.

We have plenty of time to decide.

I *never* feel that way when it comes to planning WDW! I have a mental list of decisions to be made and objects to obtain and once anything comes into my radar I hate to table it. What if they run out??? What if I'm supposed to buy tickets at 7am 365 days in advance?? What if the Crocks are no longer on sale???????

We are booked for this cruise as well. We rebooked while onboard the Wonder on January 31st--the day they released the rest of 2008. We are not 100% positive that plans won't change, but for now November 1st is the date. It will be DH and myself along with my sister, her DH, and DS7 and DD5. We can't wait to get back on the Magic!

We are thinking of getting to FL the day before the cruise and doing MNSSHP on Halloween.

Welcome!! We have a lot of cruise planning ahead! My daughter will be 5 the time we sail and my son will be 8. (Almost the same ages as your niece and nephew) I think we will be arriving before the cruise too. Although I hear the crowds are large during that time I think it would be fun for the kids. I will have plenty of time for some R & R on the cruise.

I was in WDW in 2004 on Halloween and the crowds really weren't that bad. We didn't do MNSSHP then, but hopefully it isn't too crowded on Halloween night because it is a specially ticketed event and they do have a limit as to how many they let in (but I'm not sure what that is). So, if you are planning to go to MNSSHP on Halloween, it does sell out so buy tickets early. Anyway, we did MNSSHP in 2005 the Friday before Halloween and it was great. We were cruising over Halloween which was fine, but MNSSHP was way better than anything DCL did for Halloween. We ended up with tons of candy that we took on the cruise--but didn't touch because there was so much to eat on the cruise already. We walked right on to most of the rides, the longest wait was 10 or 15 minutes for Space Mountain. I think a lot of people who go to MNSSHP go for the parade, fireworks, treats, etc., and they don't care as much about the rides. I think the best plan is to not do the parks on Halloween except for MNSSHP, and you can get in with your wristband around 4pm so you have like 8 hours to play. Too bad it is so far away. We just got off the ship 3 weeks ago and it seems like forever!

Do you think it's too early to talk about booking our next cruise while onboard our Nov '08 cruise (maybe for one of the new ships!).

I think it is always a great idea to rebook onboard. We didn't on our first cruise and we should have since we cruised again a year later.

When I read about the new ships, I asked DH if we should do something special for our 10th anniversary in 2012. Then I showed him the press release about the new ships. I'd love to go on them, but I don't think I'll be on one of their first cruises.

No! I'm already planing to return in November 2011. Just don't tell DH. ;) I'm waiting for him to experience the "Magic" and find out that it's cheaper to book and then move reservations around later.

Great plan Fabumouse! Maybe I can use that on DW.

Stampinshauna...I just read your TR. It was great! I have to agree with you about parasailing. It is so peaceful, quiet, relaxing, and the view is unbelievable! Castaway Cay Plan #1: Parasail with DD(who will be 11)!!

BTW...I have a future conference planned for SLC. Hopefully, you can tell us what to see and do.

The closer we get the happier I get! Every minute counts!! My daughter is asking every day when we are going back on the Disney cruise and if that continues it's going to be a long 19months and 3 weeks!!!

When are you coming to SLC? Just let me know as your trip gets closer and I'd be happy to give you some ideas of things to do and see.

20 months seems so far away, but it is better than having no cruise planned at all.

It *seemed* so far away until the deposits showed up on my credit card today. All of a sudden (paying for) it seems right around the corner. :scared:

And I'm thinking maybe going even a day earlier and staying at Ron Jon's for a bit before the cruise instead of dealing with trick or treating at WDW. :scratchin

Ok I'm bumping us back to the top!! Spring is arriving this week and I can't wait for the warmer weather. My husband and I have decided to take a weekend getwaway to Florida in June without the kids. We had travel vouchers from our trip in Feb and thought it would be a waste not to use them. We are staying in Disney but not doing the parks. I think just hanging by the pool and a doing a couple nice dinners is enough. I feel guilty :guilty: not taking the kids but they will be fine with Nanny and Grandpa.

That sounds like fun. I've been thinking about going to WDW sometime and staying at our DVC without going to the parks, I'm just not sure if I can do it. It's warming up here too. I haven't been in weather this nice since our January cruise on the Wonder.

Yesterday DH requested time off for a trip we're taking to Denver in August (for our Anniversary--we're going to see the new Little Mermaid musical there). His boss saw that it was only a few days off and said that's not long enough for a cruise, where are you going? :rotfl2: It seems like most, but not all of our trips are cruises or Disney. Well, I guess this one is Disney because of the musical we are going to see. I wish it was a cruise, but I just have to be patient until November 2008.

I am not sure how I am going to do once I get there with no plans on going to the parks. I think my husband will keep me in check since he is not the crazy disney fanatic like I am. We will see what happens but for now we are sticking to some R & R.

Enjoy your weekend WDW Resort trip! We have finally reached the point where we can enjoy "resort time" on our WDW vacations. Tentatively we have plans for a July WDW vacation. Of course we'll go to the parks, but we've talked more about horseback riding, waterparks, and Segway tours than anything else! Two years ago we spent more time at our AKL resort than we did at the parks!

Little Mermaid musical? Work, and DD's swimteam has interrupted our Disney life. Is the LM Musical touring the country?

Segway tours are tons of fun. DH and I just did one in February around EPCOT and we both loved it. His birthday was in February and after the tour he said he wanted a Segway so I told him to keep dreaming.

The Little Mermaid musical is debuting in Denver. I had never heard of it but on Sunday DH suggested it and I'm not one to turn down a trip. One article says it is a pre-broadway tryout. It goes from the end of July into September and I'd guess it will go to Broadway after that.
