Nov. 2011

Hi,

I'm not familiar with discount codes and stuff, please enlighten me:

Just booked 6 nights at the Beach Club in early November. Deposit is paid, but I have until late September to pay the balance.

Is there a way I can enjoy some special rate / discount in case they do a promo between now and September?

Say they offer cheaper rates, what should I do? Make a new reservation and immediately cancel the old one?

What should I do to know about promos? Every couple of weeks check prices at Disney page? Follow this thread? Or...?

Finally, about this free diner thing, am I automatically entitled in case the extend the promo? Is the Dinning Plan necessary to enjoy this promo?

Thanks!

toxa,

the best thing to do is follow this thread. Any promo codes that get released, you can be sure someone here will post about it right away! Any codes for November (which may be for some kind of % discount on room rates or free dining...) will probably not be released until July/August. There's no need to cancel your current reservation and rebook. If a discount code is released, just call Disney and ask them to apply the code to your existing reservation, if you qualify (some codes might be restricted to certain hotels, room types, etc.) It never hurts to call with a code, when you see one, and ask if it applies to your reservation (you can also change your reservation to comply with the code, if it just means something like changing your room type, etc). If they say no, it also never hurts to ask if there are any other codes you can use with your reservation.

I have gotten a 40% off Room pin the last 3 years.
Last year we bought a weekday annual pass, and since then, this year I have not gotten a PIN.

coincidence? not so sure.. seems to me like they know they got me now, so why offer a discount?

I got a 40% room only PIN email in January, booked three rooms at the Poly for Nov 13-20. We had to add a fourth room for a friend joining the group, but she did not check her email and missed it by one day. She is currently booked at AAA rate, so we are really hoping to see those late fall PINs again soon.

In 2010 I did not get the November PIN until July, so I am optimistic that they are coming soon.

I've received some pins for November, but it appears that most our travel dates are blacked out this year. We're going 11/18 - 11/27, but the black out dates appear to be 11/19 - 11/27. I'm guessing my only hope would be free dining, but that won't be much of a discount--if any. Seriously considering switching dates around. I will NOT pay rack rate; Disney's price point has just gotten too ridiculously high.

For the pp who asked, blacked out doesn't mean "ever" but for that discount code. I've had discounts Thanksgiving week (and other major weeks) in the past, but not so much this year.

And, I've received a pin at least once a year (most of the time several a year)--knock on wood. And I'm a AP holder, who goes at least once a year. I don't believe frequency of travel or type of ticket has anything to do it. *MY* belief is that Disney marketing simply pulls a certain population and sends them codes. What that population is (those with kids, those that have been staying onsite, age demographics, etc) is what remains a mystery to me. I just hope the discounts--pin, GP, AP, etc--keep coming!

To those who are getting November pin codes... Do you already have a reservation? Do they only send codes to those without an existing reservation?

I have Nov 14-18 booked and I keep hearing about people getting pin codes that include those dates. While I know there's no guarantee of getting a pin code, will I have no chance of getting one if I already have a reservation?

We have gotten pins when we already has a reservation. Last year we were booked for a December trip and got a pin code during July. We just called and they applied the pin to our existing reservation!

We have received several pins already this year and I have been booked rack rate since January. Only last week did I get a discount and I have no idea why!!! Thinking back, I remember the CM did say at one point (after talking to guest services about my sister's room) that my sister and I have been loyal vacationers every fall so it was our lucky day to get two discounted rooms. I was thinking at the time that they must have files on us???

We booked our November trip back in January using a 40% off room pin. A few months after booking, we received the same offer via email pin. We have also received several other pins for dates to which we would never visit!

We received our ordered DVD this week from Disney so we are hoping for a code/pin very soon!
Hope to go early November....after Food and Wine Fest

zyezye...have you saved any trips on their website yet? I saved some resort prices under my DH's account and he got a pin within a couple of weeks. Who knows what works but you might as well try doing everything!!!!

Yes, I did save a trip because I had seen a suggestion on the boards that might work.

I'm actually not booked yet. I have received, over the years, many pins on times when I have already been booked. I also don't save trips. I do order a planning DVD every February or March. We have APs. And I order custom maps every so often. Most of the time we stay onsite, but being a family of 6 and where Disney prices are getting to, we are starting to stay offsite from time to time. Most of the time I get the pins, but sometimes DH does (and he has never been the lead--I always am).

I'm waiting for the Disney visa free dining/room discount to be offered in July....but according to my ticker my trip is only 5 months 3 wks 3 days away. Do you think I will still be able to get the ADRs I want if I wait until then to book it (I will be at 4 months 3 wks, etc), or should I go ahead and book it now so I can get my ADRs made asap? I'm just afraid that if I go ahead and do it, if they have to cancel the ressie and do a new one with the free dining/room discount, I will have to start all over again and then possibly not get the ones I want. Or can they transfer over your ADRs? :confused3

You are already inside your 180 window...unless you want a reservation at CRT or one of the dinner shows and to not have to pay for it, the rest of the bookings don't require you to have a reservation to make. Go ahead and make your ADRs, and then when you go, tell them you are on the DDP and you are good to go.

Good to know! Thanks!

We decided to go to our travel agent at AAA and book the trip we want. Our dates are flexible in the Fall or early December, so we want to choose the trip we want and then cross our fingers that a Disney deal can be applied later.
We're leaning toward a land/sea package. At least that is what it used to be called. I guess now it is pre or post vacation cruise. Either way, a great choice!
We still want to stay at the Poly and then head to the ship!
Can't wait!

I am so confused...I know there are a few codes floating around GX? and DY9. My travel agent keeps calling and getting the run around. Each time it is a different story about being free dining, deluxe dining etc. Also each time the blackout dates are different. Has anyone used these codes and if so for what dates and what was the actual discount (room only or dining?) Thanks everyone!!!

annakate27

A week or so ago, I was able to use DY9 on a BC reservation for 40% off our room. Our dates there are November 13 - 19.

I'm still waiting for a discount at the Poly for November 7 - 13 which is Jersey week.
