Nov. 2011

I tried to use the GX8 code and I was told it was a bounceback only code and I had to be on property to use it. It was for 40% off the deluxe resorts. I really hope I can get a pin code or there is some type of public code or I will have to downgrade my resort in order to afford this trip.

I have saved trips on the website, ordered the DVD and ordered the customized maps and never have received a pin.

A week or so ago, I was able to use DY9 on a BC reservation for 40% off our room. Our dates there are November 13 - 19.

I'm still waiting for a discount at the Poly for November 7 - 13 which is Jersey week.
Just tried the DY9 code for AK CL Nov 12-14 and was told I needed to be currently staying at a resort to use it.:sad1:

Should I keep trying to get other CMs or should I just wait till July/Aug when more codes should be available? Any ideas?

I just called Disney to check the codes GX8 and DY9. They are both the same except the DY9 code is for Deluxe Dining. They ARE NOT bounceback offer codes. They are room only codes and they go into December. There are several blackout dates including the week of Thanksgiving.

The trick seems to be getting a cooperative CM. They are BB codes and we shouldn't be able to get them, that's why the offer isn't published on the Special Offers page or bookable online, but some CMs are apparently ignorant of or willing to break the rules for the code.

For sure keep trying until you get a CM who is willing to use the codes. My CM even had permission from guest services to give me a second CL level room with this code so I know she didn't use it by mistake. I think it depends on the CM because it sure wasn't a BB offer for me since I was in Canada at the time (lol)

Keep trying because more than just myself have been able to use it!!!!
Good luck!

What if you show up on Thanksgiving and then stay the whole following week, will Disney use the codes for the nonblackout time?

Was your first CL room booked with a BB offer and while you were at Disney?

Just got off the phone with a CM and gave him the GX8 code and the DY9 code, he said they were available, no problem. Lots of black out dates but he never mentioned anything about it being a bounceback offer! I havent been to disney since 2006 so it surely wasn't a bounceback for me! :)

I just called a CM as well to find out more about these GX8 and DY9 codes. The lady I spoke with said that they are available to use. She said if they were
pins, then only the person who received that pin my use it, but if it is a discount code, then anyone can use it. She said they both looked like discount codes to her!

The DY9 is for the deluxe dining plan and the GX8 is for the Magic Your Way + Dining, which is what I have booked (GX8 code expires June 30th). She didn't know exactly what the value of the discount was. My dates are November 13-18th which she said were available for GX8!! Because I booked through a travel agent, I will have to wait until they apply the code for me before I find out what the value of the discount actually is.

Boy this is confusing:lmao: I was wondering if anyone has heard of any blackout dates between Nov 27-Dec 8th?

Thanks so much!:goodvibes

I called today and she said she could see the codes but didn't know what they were for and said they were outdated.

Yikes. I know Cast Members have been given pink slips in the past for such mistakes (does anyone else remember when CM's were applying PIN codes without verifying said PIN???)

I may be alone in my thoughts here, but as much as I'd love a discount on my vacation, I don't want one at the cost of someone losing their job. :sad1:

I just called and was told it was 100% a bounce back offer. I think I'll wait for the regular discounts instead of getting a Cast Member in trouble.

I'm going to call and see if there's a PIN attached to my name.
IF there's actually a PIN for me and I book a package, does it mean that I have to put the $200 deposit right then and there?
(I'm assuming the answer is yes, but I want to be sure about this)

TIA :goodvibes

I just spoke to reservations and the GX8 code is only good if you are on site to make future reservation. She did say that she has never sen the code before but when she put it in it came back as a bounceback. I'm currently on a 20% pin so its not bad, but that 40% would be great.

For those who have booked the GX8 code - I'm confused. Is this a percentage off room code or is it for free dining? The previous posts don't really specify.
Thanks!

I called this morning and was advised by the representative that it is definitely a bounce back offer. She even called to make sure. She said that these codes are used when you are already at Disney and you want to book your next vacation. She said that she cannot confirm if others have given the code out anyway. I obviously did not want her to get in trouble so I left it at that. I am just trying to change resorts but the resort I want has no more rooms available under my pin number. I can only hope that the free dining comes out or someone cancels at the resort we want.

I also just called reservations and was told that code GX8 was for guests currently staying on property (bounceback offer) ... the CM also told me that there is a very good chance that anyone who used the code, without being a guest on property when they booked, may get flagged in their system and then will have to pay the difference when they actually check in ... IMO, even if this is a remote possibility, I don't think I'm willing to even take that chance & then get the surprise that I owe a lot more $$ when I check in for our vacation ... hopefully another discount code will be coming out soon that I will feel more comfortable in using ... :)

P.S. - I was also told that GX8 was for a package including Room, Tickets & Basic Dining ....

I just got off the phone with a CM and she said that the GX8 was a valid code, however there were no TPV rooms at the Poly left for the night I wanted to add. I can't believe all the different stories everyone's being given depending upon which CM you speak with. Who knows.

That's what scares me. Remember the Boardwalk fiasco a few years back? When there was a glitch in the system allowing people to book a garden suite for like $100 a night?

When Disney discovered the mistake, they contacted everyone who booked and told them that they weren't honouring the price. :sad2:

Yes, the CM I spoke with today told me that this could happen also ...
