Not ROFR thread - general discussion

So those of you that have contracts at multiple resorts do you keep the same use year? We are thinking one contract around 150 it's at our preferred home resort PVB for a longer stay each year then another 100-150 at SSR or AKL to use anywhere for weekend trips or precruise single night stays. But since we really won't be using the points together would it matter if I had two use years.

Sorry for all the questions lately, just trying to make the best purchases.
I have one use year. I would love 2 use years, but I don't like any type of hassle at all when I make plans. Needing to transfer points or keep track of what's happening in which account is not fun for me. Some people love challenges and projects. Some people like spending tons of time trying to get a reservation. For me, I just want to book when I want to book and not spend a lot of time moving things around.

I am all October , but that is limiting when shopping for resale.
Since I am done buying points 🤞 :-)it no longer matters

The fixed week is already a bit confusing - going to have to remember to cancel it each year that I want a 2br. I guess I have to call MS by some date to do that?
You can also book something on your own with points on that specific contract and MS won't book your Favorite Week.

I would only do that if you absolutely 100% know you will be opting out.

I have just one. I'm so glad I listened to the people who said that was the way to go. I think if you travel all through the year, multiple use years could work. But we target January - June, so one use year is just fine, and easier to deal with. Each new use year is a new membership.

Just submitted my first resale offer at my dream resort, Boardwalk. I’ve been researching for months, saw the listing last night and decided to sleep on it (husband is out of town so I knew we wouldn’t get to discuss), and by some miracle it was still posted this morning so I pulled the trigger!! (After a quick text to my husband to make sure he trusted me to make a big financial commitment without a chance to talk first, haha).

Soooo…how long does it usually take to hear if an offer is accepted??

Yay! It can take an hour up to a couple days depending on the if the brokers agent works on the weekends. Good luck!

I have multiple Use Years. For me, the key element is this: each Use Year by itself must have more than enough points for a full vacation. For me, that's around 100 points. For others, likely more. (I go multiple times a year.). Again, speaking only for myself, I think two problems with multiple UYs are (1) remembering when it's time to bank and (2) having one UY with so few points that those points can effectively only be used as 7-month points (as they need to be combined with other UY points) or SAPs (and for practical purposed lose any meaningful 11-month advantage).

Relatedly, since the pandemic (and a family illness), I've become far more on the Point Borrowing Team, as there can be unforeseen problems with banking hundreds of points. I try to use the points for each year as the year goes by. So banking is less of an issue here now.

Remember to check that junk email folder. I have most of the resale site going to junk since they seem to email every single day.

We made our offer an about 2 minutes later the broker rang me and 5 minutes after that rang again to say accepted.
Thanks all!! Offer accepted in about two hours. I am so so so excited! Now fingers crossed for ROFR! Happy early birthday to me 🍾
