Not enough points...

yeah, we said the same thing... it changed, we're there in August, September, November, December, Easter.

Who want to miss all the special events?!?!

I keep transferring points in since we're not really in a position to add atm (just moved, furnishing our new home, etc). I think I've transferred in 100+ points to our 275 every year except 2009 when we transferred in 65 ...

To be fair my friends are using some of those points, but ... really its just hard to stop myself from planning "one more weekend" now that we're driving distance from the parks with APs.

Eventually I'll decide whether I want another 100 at VGC or BLT (for every third year), and whether the maintenance fees are worth it (vs picking up a cheap different timeshare system for weekend local use).

How do you transfer points in?:confused3

We're still new at this.

We don't have enough points. We stayed at WL in January and at POR in July on AP rates. We are going to stay at BLT using borrowed points in December and will be tapped out again.

Actually, I'm not sure if we have too few points...or if we should just go without APs.

I've already told DH that we shouldn't get APs next year. At first he thought I meant that I didn't want to go at all. He was ok when he realized that I didn't want to go TWICE.

It would be nice to not always be borrowing.

We've got enough points for out needs (although I am out of points till Dec 2014), so the only reason to add on any more would be to get the home resort advantage at a couple of other resorts.

We're still new at this.

You go to the rent/trade board and find a member willing to transfer some or all of their points to you. Usually they charge $10 - $14 per point.
You only get 1 transfer in or out per year.

To save on points we will stay offsite. Our next trip is over a holiday weekend so tons of points were saved doing a split stay. There are some nice places off property for a good deal and can include breakfast. We drive so its not a big deal for us and is a nice change of scenery. Besides with points around $10 each - the offsite hotel can be cheaper.

I've got 4 nights at All Star Music coming up on the 30th November, and 5 nights in May next year where I'll be having to buy a room at a Value when the annual passholder discount comes out. So yes, I think it's safe to say I don't have enough points for this year. However this is an extremely abnormal year for our frequency of going to Disney World so it's not worth adding on (unfortunately ;) )

I only have 100 and I agree they go to fast especially since I do a lot of the Disney races, however I am extremely lucky to have a great friend that I race with and she uses her points to book two bedroom villas at deluxe resorts. I would love to one day to purchase more points or add a different resort.

We have done this to save points. Twice we have arrived after 9pm at Orlando airport. We booked a value room for one night since we didn't arrive at the resort till after 10 pm. We keep our bags packed, take them to bell hop in the morning and have them transferred to our DVC resort. We hit the parks and return mid afternoon to check in at DVC. Both times we got a standard room value for $83. Saves us a night of points. After all, it's just a bed for the night, and getting a flight early in the am is exhausting for that first day at WDW.

Not yet, but I have a feeling I might be soon. We have 200 points at AKV - We didn't go last year and we added on a 100 more points at BWV. So, we have two trips booked - one starts this weekend for a week and another in March for a week. I am already thinking and planning our next one in January 2015 which I might have to borrow a few points for for the first time! We want to try either a Grand Villa or a stay at GF if I can get a ressie there.

We have 470 and would be tapped out if we didn't restrain ourselves!! I'd love more points but am not sure if I can justify the cost at the moment.

I borrow, transfer in, purchase DVC points one time points, whatever it takes to make it happen! But one thing I won't do is add-on! I've resisted the urge for the last 13 years, and now that my son is older and soon headed to college, I think the 210 points I have and the maint. fees to go with will do me just fine!

I'm even staying off site, something we haven't done in a while, to take advantage of Food and Wine a second time this week-end! It will only make me appreciate OKW even more!
