Well we got a chance to eat at one of our favorite eateries during our vacation this past week, and that is the resturant in Norway. We have been discussing in the past on here about how Norway might be going to regular resturant and not all you can eat buffet. Well they did make a change, but one we really liked. It is still all you can eat, but only the cold stuff was out on the buffet. The main dishes, you ordered through your waitperson. At first we has some misgivings about this, because we do like to sample everything. Well there has to be some give and take. When they brought out our choices for main dish, they were served up as if you were in a 4 star resturant. What a presentation, as the chefs love to show off and it is great. The food was delicious, and when I was done with my first choice, sure enough, they asked if I wanted to try something else. Of course I did, and it was great also. Now the downside of this was that you don't get to put a little of everything on your plate, but you don't miss to much. You still get all of the cold things, salads, herrings stuff like that on your plate by going up to the buffet bar. We were very impressed though with the way it was done and needed many trips around the world to making us feel near normal in the stomach. Anyway, great change and gets our thumbs up. Certainly try it.

Thank you so much for your review. My DH and I have this restaurant in our plans for September, and were curious about the recent changes to the buffet. Sounds like they made a good improvement to serve the hot food fresh and to order.

I ate there again last week and the menu has changed a bit since my last visit. Chicken with wild rice and venison stew have been replaced by pan-fried trout and Lamb with cabbage.
There were no shrimp on the cold board at lunch (not sure about dinner), but there were more cold items overall. No soup, but I doubt I would have eaten any on such a hot day. They have adjusted the portion-sizes a bit so that people will feel more free to sample. Still, I would get a few different entrees and share around the table.

The pan-fried trout is (according to the F&B manager) an item that would not have been possible to serve on the old buffet. Also, because a Norweigen Cold Board does not have hot items, the old buffet could not truly be called "traditional."
