North To Alaska--May 3, 2011 on the Disney Wonder

Wondering if I should be setting a little something aside for a possible port upgrade? :) How much do you think to go from an 11 to a 3?:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I have to ask....what is Cinco de mayo? we don't celebrate this in Canada (well at least not in Ontario)

FYI :)

"Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for “fifth of May”) is a holiday held on May 5 that commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín. It is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla and in the United States. While Cinco de Mayo sees limited significance in Mexico itself, the date is observed nationwide mostly in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day, the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico."

Here are the guidelines we have discussed for the FE.

FE Guidelines/Rules:
1) Everyone on the list will give one gift per cabin (if you wish to do more we won't stop you)
2) The cut off for joining the FE is April 3rd to give everyone time to get their gifts together.
3) Cabin upgrades/assignment changes can be made in Promenade Lounge from 2:30 to 3:30. The updated list will then be posted on the door of cabin #5129.
4) All gifts should be delivered by Monday, May 9th to give everyone time to pack all their treasures.

If someone would be willing to post a link of the first page on April 4th that would be the final list and would no longer need any edits.

is the FE going to be per person or per cabin?

I was going to say it was up to you, but I see that there are actual guidelines! Just be aware that some cabins have unrelated people sharing a room (like Padalyn - Cayla), and those folks sometimes appreciate duplicates if FE gift is "collectable" or "scrapbook-able".

I knew someone would have a concise explanation for this - Thanks!

I really don't think May will be too cold, after the winter most folks have had.

For those of us doing B2B we may find it as cool or cooler in SF than in some parts of Alaska! We are headding into the cooler season in the City. I know because I have spent many a night at at baseball game with three layers of clothes on!:scared1: In fact my clothes for the baseball games in SF is what gets me through VA winters!:rotfl2: Sue

I just mailed pictures of me (and my tablemates) to our (requested) server and assistant server on the Wonder. If anyone has sailed on the Wonder recently, or you have requested specific servers ... why not send them pictures, along with a note letting them know you are on the way to *visit* them?

HH weather gear - check, Sou wester hat check:thumbsup2 prob overkill but if I pack it the weather will be great. If not will be ready for the gales that may blow, if they do - do I want a wet suit for the wave pool, dry suit too heavy

Now to find my Robert Service books, Sam Mcgee, Shooting of Dan Mcgrew, Grin, and Men That Don't Fit In, all classic to me that fueled my Wanderlust , which I have not lost

Back in the mid 70's spent a few days in Beautiful Downtown Talkeetna, and few days (27 that is) on "The Great One" , getting excited about returning to Alaska

Sad there is very little coverage of "The Last Great Race"

Found some Robert Service in Kindle one Freebie and the other $.99 , SCORE!!!!

One can tell who the difference between tourists and locals by who is wearing a coat/jacket and who is freezing cause they thought it would be warm.

As such, there are plenty of street venders selling SF themed Polar Fleece jackets, hats and mittens at very reasonable prices (bought a jacket myself in a non-thinking moment as it was warm in San Jose before we went to the city that evening for a segway tour) :guilty:

Great. I guess I always thought all of CA was warm being all the way over there, warm enough to swim at least the first few days of the cruise. I had a hard time getting my son to understand he won't be able to swim on the AK cruise, but didn't realize the LA to VAN would be cold too. There goes our major source of keeping him occupied. Oh well, we'll both just be happy to be onboard, it's been 3 years since our last cruise!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

:scared: SO........definitely not a "shorts and sandals" cruise! At least we'll get to wear shorts in LA. This all prompted me to check the weather for all the locations we'll be visiting. As long as it's 60, that's shorts weather for us, and it's in the mid 60s this week in LA. :thumbsup2

The pools on the ship are heated in they fall below 75 degrees (according to the website). Besides, I think there are plenty of options for other activities (seven cruises and I have yet to check out the pools).

You have more patience than I do, I could not last 3 years between cruises without going thru DCL withdrawal. :lmao:
