Non disney hotels getting FP+

Maybe it is more of a test for guest that show up with no ticket linked to MDE. The only way Disney will be able to have any idea of how many days an off-site guest will visit the parks is if they have a ticket linked in MDE. Disney would have no way to know if an off-site guest with an AP or NE ticket will be visiting for 1 day or 1 week.

Exactly disney needs to find something for those guests that don't have a MDE account.

Looking over the posts on the Dolphin thread, it looks like the FP+ data is stored in the RFID tickets directly rather than linked to MDE. One of the posters suggested that this was a separate "pool" of FP+ available as she was able to get a FP+ for test track after other FP was completely gone.

Perhaps a number of FP+ will be reserved for same day use for off-site guests without MDE accounts. There is also a suggestion that the S&D may get earlier FP+reservations in the future once they find out how to link room reservations to the MDE system.

We have annual passes, but are staying offsite Dec 6th-16th at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. I have our annual passes linked in MDE. We still don't get magic bands and can't book FP+ though.:headache:

This goes with the idea of "anonymous" profiles for tickets not linked to an MDX account that I hypothesized. I'm going to find out today or tomorrow how this will work with my AP, which IS linked...

You have to have a Disney resort reservation at this point in order to get magic bands.

I'm not 100% but I thought I have heard of some make a one night reservation at a Disney resort allowing them to receive MBs and then you would be able to pre-book FP+ for your whole stay. Not sure if it is worth it or not. :confused3

Your correct as long as you have that initial resort stay even if it's one night you can get MB and use them anywhere after that initial resort stay.

Here is what I know so far about the Swan/Dolphin test (haven't read any other threads yet...)

There are special marked kiosks at the entrances of the parks for S/D guests. You need both your room card and ticket media. And it is same day only.

Haven't done it yet as they didn't have our room ready until after 5, so don't have room cards, plus we were going to MVMCP anyways

Keep us posted on how it works out and if there were lines and how long it took you.

I definitely will..but may not be until tomorrow...other things like running a 5k scheduled..but sure who's bright idea that was..:)

OK...so at the international gateway, the "kiosk" is a cast member with an iPad..just one. We did get it, and its still tiered. It does look like they have a bit of a separate pool as friends who are already activated couldn't get a similar time frame.

And just noticed...even though my pass is linked to mdx and they knew DW and I were linked, I don't have access via the app to them.

Correction...I can see them in My Plans, but I cannot change them as I'm "not eligible"

OK, here's my take on this. We just returned last weekend and was there for 2 weeks. I was one of those unfortunate souls who never got my AP to link to my MB prior to my trip. My first day I spent almost the entire day trying to get someone to help. I spent a hour at my resort with GR (BWV), who then suggested I go to the gateway GR and after 40 minutes, it still wasn't linked. I spoke with several CM at AK (the ones that hover near FP entrances with their ipads), and finally as I was exiting AK that evening, I again went into the guest relations to find my new BFF. This cast member spent 1 1/2 hours fixing my AP/MB issues. He spent time on the phone with IT and then copied all of my husband's FP+ selection to me, often having to comp me fast passes as the times didn't match up, esp. TSM.

OK, this is what I heard from the cast member at the counter while I was getting "fixed". This guest came up to the CM and said "what is this thing people are wearing to get into the fast pass line". The CM asked him if he was staying onsite. The guest said "no". So the CM explained. The guest then asked the CM, will everyone be able to use this one day and the cast member said YES. He said it was in the testing stage at their resorts right now, but in the future, ALL disney theme park guest would have to use them to get fast passes.

I have heard a rumor that non resort guest would be charged for this service, but we know how rumors are?:confused3

Disney has always said that everyone would have access to the FP+ system. Off-property guests will not, however, automatically receive Magic Bands. They will get RFID-enabled cards that they can use to access the system. They will be able to purchase Magic Bands if they wish, but it will not be required.

Disney has never said that off-property guests will have to pay to use the system. I think that can definitely be put in the rumor pile. :)

I can tell you, my RFID AP worked fine to redeem my FP+ :) It scans fast...less than a second each. But at 10am three line to get IN the Fastpass queue was several minutes long...

Maybe that's where the rumor is from, that if off site guest wants bands, they can purchase them......

I just selected my second set of bands. We were there last week and used our magic bands and we have a trip in January and they wanted me to customize these bands. Normally I would've passed, but found if you don't customize, you will have a set waiting for you in Grey at checkin. After my granddaughters band broke on her second day of our trip, I realized how fragile they are, so decided to make sure I did order that back up set. My daughter was with us and brought their customized bands and when she checked in they gave her a second set of grey customized bands at checkin. She didn't know what she was going to do with them, but after the one band broke, it was nice to have a backup. And both bands were active already, so no need to re-visit the front desk.

So do you think if a lot of people were doing this would it take a long time and do you think there would be a long line. I just think right now not many are going to do this little swan and dolphin test could you tell if a lot of people were doing it, I still believe this is to give one day guests something if they are not staying at a hotel any where.

1- Yup. It would have to be that way.
2- Yup.
3- We just have to wait and see how they design this for full-rollout for all guests.

Is this with a Swan/Dolphin stay, Brian?

Yeah I just can't see disney doing this to all off site guests having to go up the day of to book your fast pass that just seems like it would create havoc at these kiosks.
