Welcome Jessicasmom! As I am sure you have read, we all do things a little differently, but I know I have found the support helpful!
I am going to admit that while your name and avatar are familiar from the EBTA thread, I don't remember any specific interactions we had. I became a full time student since the cruise and all sorts of useful information has been forgotten in the effort to shove more info in my brain. But I know I remember the people who's company I DIDN'T enjoy, so that has to be good right? Either way, I' m glad you are here!
You brought up vacation eating, and I have come to a conclusion about our upcoming Alaska cruise. I have decided to remain sugar and flour free on my upcoimg trip. At the time of the trip, I will only have 3.5 months of the plan under my belt, and I don't want to lose my momentum. It will also be an experiment for myself to prove for myself, that I can have a wonderful vacation without obsessing over sugar! I am confident that between the no sugar added cheese cake and the fresh fruit onboard, I will be just fine!
Actually I have some other trips on my mind. In addition to Alaska in August, I might be headed to Disneyland in CA in November, followed up by a week in WDW in June. For some reason, crusing "on plan" seems relatively easy, but WDW without Dole Whip? That feels impossible! I am hoping that be June, I will able to eat sugar moderately while touring.
Hang with me while I take us off-topic for a sec...
In fact with these three trips coming up, I am considering doing a Pre-Trip Report that encompasses all the trips. It would take place over a year from June 2011-June 2012 to capture a year of firsts! It will be my first time on the Wonder, first time in Alaska, First time in Canada, First time in L.A., First time in Disneyland (and all that goes with it) and first weeklong trip to WDW (and all that goes with it). But will I be about to keep up with it?
Any thoughts?
Jessicasmom - when you returned home from your trip, did you have sugar withdrawl? It takes me about a week to be comfortable not eating sugar again after consuming it in quantity. But that might just be me.

. We really never had much of an opportunity to get acquainted. I think we might have spoken a bit on the cabin tour.
attitude about vacation eating, we find ourselves limiting the "bad" foods naturally. On the ship, we would have breakfast or lunch, rarely both, and whatever we wanted for dinner (early seating). The portions are not that large, so overall the impact was minimal. We would snack if we were hungry but never really stuffed ourselves (except for Palo
). We kept physically active (by our standards) roaming the ship delivering FE & SM gifts and just exploring (our first time on the Magic). We're not sit-by-the-pool types. Of course, we ate more than normal (dinners at home rarely include an app, soup, salad, entree and dessert!), but way less than we would have years ago. I also tried not to drink my calories...only imbibed when it was free (and you know that wasn't very often!) On the WB, my adult dtr will be with us, so a drink-of-the-day will be in order, I'm sure.
on what it takes to get the weight down. Of course, it would take me this long to figure it out...when the metabolism is crawling and the hormones are working against me....
.....ah, life.

It's a day off for me, and I'm spending it
! I just can't quit checking these boards...yep, I need to get off my tush and do something!
I will go do the run I was thinking of bagging tonight.

I ran marathon weekend this past January, and there are people of all fitness levels there. I absolutely know that you can run the Princess half. You have 10 months to train if you start now.
I only order sugar free desserts. Then, I run. I run about 4 miles a day while on the ship. I am, in fact, a lay around the pool kind of girl, so I have to do something to combat that.
I enjoy a cocktail while cruising but never overdo it because those fruity drinks are killers. For breakfast and lunch, I eat as much fresh fruit as I can to try to fill up, then try to finish off with something healthy. So far, I've managed to maintain my weight or lose a pound or two on every cruise except my first one. On that first one, I had no idea what to expect, and managed a 10 pound gain. Of course, I was so skinny back then that I needed the 10 pounds.
. I'm sure you'll do very well in all of your classes, even math
!
. I've found them in several stores where Jelly Bellies are sold, always in a small hanging bag (only mixed flavors).
