No Simple Carbs Support Thread

How are all of you ladies doing? Everyone sticking to it and having willpower?

Well, not me. I caved last night. My friends were taking me out for a belated birthday dinner (over a month ago, so VERY belated), and we went to a mexican restaurant. There were no choices at all. So, what did I do? I went for it. 2 frozen margaritas, chips and salsa, and spinach and cheese enchiladas. I am feeling SOOOOO sick today. I can not believe how much junk I ate, but my body will be reminding me all weekend. :sad1: Mother's Day, we are going to a buffet brunch, so I think there will be lots of healthy options for me. I know there will be salad and fruit, plus, I think I can make a few other things work, if I'm careful.

Every day is a new day, right? :)
I hope everyone is doing better than me.

you know, every once and a while you have to just go for it. It then reminds you don't want a ton of simple carbs in your diet. But, nothing wrong with a spluge. I personally can not resist a margarita:goodvibes

Hope you are feeling better today!!

I agree... The full on splurge technique works for me. A full day bender is usually enough to convince me to go straight for at least a week. The little cheats a few times a week are so much worse. They just make me want more, not scare me straight!

Having said that I have been in a bad cycle of little cheats for a few weeks. It's a bad scene. I am not gaining weight, but I'm not losing any either. I'm still hovering about 12lbs above a weight that puts me into the "normal" BMI. I'm so close!!

How's everyone's weeks shaping up?

to me that says you need more protein in your diet. Maybe some extra fats also. If go off the rails (so to speak) the next day I over load on protein. Usually have some bacon and eggs for breakfast, and lots of chicken and even steak for the next meals. No simple carbs except maybe one serving of fruit. Give it a try and see if that helps :)

btw-I have started a thread to combine low carb eating and Paleo/Primal eating styles. This way we can all get a little more support. please join me

I figure we can keep this thread going and have another place to get chatty:cool1:

Fun sized chocolates.

Ladies, I am so far off the rails, I can't even tell you. :scared1: This is exam week, which is stressing me out needless to say. Then I had what I can only call an emotional realization, which I was overwhelmed by. And finally my husband left town for a few days, which for me is a signal to eat crappy food. All of this leads me back to...fun sized chocolates *sigh*

Here is the good news: I feel like crap. Not upset with myself, but physically like crap! I so want to be eatting healthy foods again. And that is great news as far as I am concerned.

And to you ladies, sorry I have been MIA. Ic an see a few of us are a little stuck. Do we need a rallying cry, or slogan or something? :confused3

Well, we all have our ups and downs. The point is to get back on track as soon as possible. Good luck with everything. I think the rallying cry should be "more protein":lmao:

Yes, it happens. It's actually good that you feel like crap! That way, you can see the good in your healthy eating. Protein is a good idea. Whenever I've had a bad day, the next day I'll eat 2 greek yogurts and some eggs along with a ton of water. I'm a vegetarian, so the bacon and stuff is out (and I soooo miss bacon), but the protein really helps.

I have managed 3 days of being back on track and feel so much better. I hope to lose this last 4 pounds this time and keep it off. I have 2 parties this weekend, so I need to watch it.

Fun sized chocolates are EVIL! Delicious...but EVIL! :scared1:

As you might guess they are also a nemesis of mine as well.
Sorry you're having a rough time, Lauren. It sounds like you have a lot going on and that does make it much harder. Just remember though, the changes you are making are for a lifetime so this little transgression is a drop in the bucket of the next seventy years. You'll get back on track and it will be all good.

But yeah, I probably could use some sort of affirmation or group agreement to get it together by Sunday or whatever. Anyone else in?:cheer2:

Me, me! I want to get back on track tomorrow. All these simple carbs are leaving me bloated and gross. I know I will be focusing on making every next choice one that supports my plan.

Thanks fo the support ladies. It is great to have the place to share the bad times along with the good.

Hey all, I feel off the wagon big time this weekend. I ate potato chips and dip, gluten free cake, and half of a gluten free pizza. I feel sick as a dog today. I have started my "off the bandwagon procedure" of upping my protein and fats, eliminating carbs, and drinking a ton of green tea. Hopefully in a few days I will be back to normal.
How are all of you doing??

I read your blog and knew you were hurting. Sorry! Isn't it funny how much pain we have to put ourselves in, on occasion, to remind ourselves this healthy eating is for the best? I fell off over Easter week, and on mom's day weekend, and both times I came back stronger!

I'm sure you'll feel much better in a few days. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for taking the time to read it! Your support (and eveyone else's ) is what is keeping me going right now. I was feeling very deprived this weekend and then add in some emotional pressure I was feeling over not getting below 300lbs.....well, it added up to the perfect storm. But, hopefully I learned a great lesson and I am picking myself and dusting myself off. A year ago this would have become a week long binge. The weekend's bender was really just a few non-healthy choices and not a binge. So, I do see progress:thumbsup2

What is everyone else doing for exercise?? I am thinking of starting to wear my pedometer again tomorrow and trying to 7,000 steps (and then working again towards 10,000). Anyone else feel like trying this with me??

Have a great day all!!!

I'm a little over the top with exercise (ex personal trainer here). I walk my dog 3 miles a day, 5 days a week. I run about 25-40 miles a week (sometimes more when training for a race), and I go to a zumba class 1-2 times a week, depending on my schedule. So, as you can see, I'm a little bit obsessed. :scared1:

I would love to do the 7000 steps with you! Do you know what that equates to in mileage?

How cool to be an athletic trainer!!! :cool1:
Every 2,000 steps equals a mile. You can do whatever mileage that works for you, though. I have a bad knee so I am gently increasing my daily mileage. I took a bit of a break from my walking (due to allergies) but now I want to get back to building towards 10,000.
There is a thread on the W.I.S.H. board about walking to Disney. What you do it use a site like map quest to determine how many miles from your house to Disney. Then you start a walking program and mark off how close you would be to getting to Disney in miles every day or week. It is a fun concept and one I need to get back to doing.

Anyway, thanks again!!!

I have a GPS watch that I use for running, so I'll use that. It's good to be held accountable by each other. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Two thumbs up to everyone starting or maintaining an exercise practice!

I don't have one, but I do want to kick off a walking schedule in a few weeks. But tomorrow I am kicking off a week of spring cleaning! It's going to be hard (sweaty) work but I am looking forward to the fruits of my labor!

Keep moving ladies! :cool1:

If you have one, wear a pedometer while cleaning. I usually get a mile or two in just cleaning the house. Every bit of movement counts!! Have fun tomorrow!!!

I am checking in to report that I only got 6000 steps in yesterday. I don't know how the day got away from me, but it did. I'm getting ready to head out for a 4 mile run, so today will be 8000 steps, plus zumba.

Alice: Thanks for the shout out on your blog. That was really sweet. :) Hope you feel better soon.

Mrs. Gumdrop: Spring cleaning will definitely burn calories. Especially if you do it right (I find lots of shortcuts). Whenever you're ready to join us in the walking challenge, please do!

I reached my goal weight on Monday. I was really surprised. Something about no processed foods and no white carbs has really worked (what a shocker, huh?). I am now trying to reevaluate how much more I want to lose. I'm VERY happy with the number, but am thinking I want to lose more body fat. So, I've upped my protein to 100 grams a day, which is really hard for a vegetarian. I'm eating 3 plain Greek yogurts a day plus whey protein, plus beans, etc..... I don't know why I'm so focused on a silly number, but when I saw that 19% body fat was the highest athlete range number, I got that in my head. I'm not sure that it's realistic, though. 2 months ago, I was at 29%, then last month, I was at 26%. I get to find out on Monday what I'm at now. I'm really curious. When I get that number, I'll reevaluate everything.

Okay, enough rambling. Have a great day, everyone!

Tandy, can I ask why that number is so important to you? Does it effect your sports training some how? I just think that you have to be careful when you get fixated on a number. From personal experience, you can drive yourself crazy.

I am not doing great this week with my walking. I feel badly because I am the one who brought it up. For some reason I have just been feeling really badly this week. Not sure what the deal is.

Ok you Zumba people-here is a question for you. We have Zumba classes around here but I feel too self conscious to go dance in front of people. But, I see that there is a Wii game for Zumba and Zumba DVDs. What do you all think of those? I am trying to decide between Country Dance Wii, Just Dance Wii, and Zumba Wii. What do you all think?

Mrs. Gumdrop-how goes your spring cleaning??

Have a great day all!!
