No more unlimited refills on resort mugs?

I think the heat must be getting to everyone. There is so much bickering going on on the Disboards the last few days. It is a bit odd, even for this group. I have the visual of a bunch of hens runing around the yard clucking all the while. And yeah, I include myself in that bunch.:upsidedow

And it is not just this thread, I think the whole board has gone a little heat-crazy.

I digress. Back to critiquing how we all post, and the debate on how large an amount of something you have to take before it is really stealing.

Oh god, tell me about it. 48 degrees celsius here with the humidity today (google says 118 fahrenheit). I am in CANADA this is not supposed to happen here :scared1:.

First off, your writing is horrible and hard to read. 2nd, I said this multiple times, I bought a new cup this year! I just bring up the point of your on vacation is Disney, if your top problem is people using old mugs, that's pretty sad. Who cares if someone uses an older version mug, as long as it's at least from Disney. I can't stand seeing people filling up water coolers and huge jugs, now that's extremely annoying. And I don't look at it as stealing, more or so people trying to save a couple bucks and using an older mug.

Hee, Hee...yes I know. The truth is sometimes difficult to read. And who cares if someone uses an older mug...apparently Disney does. Have a magical day!

Sea World sells large soda cups, $8.99 I think. You can bring it back year after year, as long as you own the cup. Refills are $.99 each (even less for annual pass holders). We go frequently, and have never heard a complaint.

Disney should do something like this...they could even add a certain number of free refills to the dining plan.

Simple, easy, and not that expensive.

At Sea World of Texas?

We were there a couple of weeks ago, and got the mugs (as well as a refillable popcorn bucket!). The prices you mention are accurate, but it was my understanding that refills were being offered only through the end of the season. Of course, I could be mistaken...

When purchased, we were told that yes, the mugs AND popcorn bucket are refillable for life. Maybe the employee was wrong, but we go at least twice a year and have never been questioned or denied. We purchased a new mug in December 2010, but before that we used the same mug for 3 years. Of course, I could be wrong too, but that's what we were told.

eta: The only reason we purchased a new mug was because the lid broke. We love SW SA!

The only shocking part of this story is that you LEFT the Polynesian to have lunch at the All Stars. That's the same as breaking INTO prison for their excellent food service. ;)

Too bad it's not shocking cause the food at the Polynesian, Contemporary, and GF has no selection. It's all these dumb meals with those stupid chips instead of fries. All these funky sandwich's, I can only eat there once or twice. And any way like I said the Chicken Penne Alfredo meal is awesome, the All Star's actually have normal meals. And if you don't find that shocking/annoying than oh well.

First off, think you forgot your glasses, its the same as your's. 2nd If it's not stealing why can't they take a coke out of the fridge, after all it's only trying to save a couple of bucks?.

But it's not the same thing, the soda fountains are there for unlimited re-fills. You act like it's the same thing as just taking soda's out of the fridges or just taking snacks from the bakery. What's next, I can't take condiments cause I didn't buy the new mug? I guess that be stealing too.

I always post something than look back and read it and see how much mistakes I made, my bad:worship:. It's just everyone has there own opinion and there gonna side that way. It's just some stuff thats said gets me so mad on here when it's a forum about all things Disney, we should all be having a fun time:confused3

So I may have missed something in the last seven hundred pages . . . wasn't this supposed to roll out this week? Has anybody posted who is, or was, there and seen this in action?

Disney Cruise Line gives everyone free soda at the drink stations.

Yes, but on the cruise ship only people on the cruise are getting free soda (that was already figured into the price of their cruise) At the resorts, people from anywhere can eat at the resorts, so that leaves the machines open to anyone who wanders in from anywhere getting free soda that the resort people or people who buy the mugs are paying for when the others use any mug or container to get the "free" soda.

:wizard: I'm confused by this because if you chose not to purchase the refillable mug and just buy your drinks with each meal how will the paper cup make the machines work? They can't possibly put chips in all the disposable cups....:confused3

Maybe they will change them all over to how they do it at the Boardwalk Bakery. You bring your mug, they fill a paper cup with your drink (so no cross contamination from other cups) and hand the paper cup to you. You then pour your drink into your mug. If you don't have a mug you get a paper cup and pay for your drink.

Only if you purchased the mug for your current stay(Disney rules not mine), as for the rest of your post, your making yourself look silly now, maybe time to admit your wrong, though I doubt that would never happen.

I was at All Star Sports Resort last month and one side of the re-fills was fit with new dispensers. It was fitted plastic for your mug to push it down. But my mug from another resort, and an older mug both worked that day.

I did purchase a new mug for my stay, but saying that we should just take bottles of soda from the freezers is not the same thing as using an old mug. And by saying "I doubt that would never happen" means that I will admit to being wrong, and i'm not.

Anybody else remember the fountain drink dispenser at the McDonald's at DTD making all those cool noises as it dispensed your ice and drink?

Yeah, that's all I can hear everytime I get a notification of a new reply to this thread. That and I really want a fountain Coke. :lmao:

Correct. Using an old mug is (almost) the same as stealing a new mug though ;). The only difference being that Disney does not lose their cost of the mug (that is the wholesale $0.34 or whatever they pay per mug). They still lose out on the potential revenue from you buying the mug since you no longer need to buy it to acquire the "perk".

It's closer to sneaking into a movie that isn't sold out. The movie theater isn't losing an actual sale by you taking up an otherwise empty seat, but they are losing that $429 (or whatever it is per ticket for a movie now) by you not paying for yours. (Let's not get into the fact it's actually the movie company and not the theater that's actually losing out on most of that money due to how they are setup and all that jazz, for simplicity's sake :p)

(Note: The use of "you" in here is not specific, it's general)

(Note 2: I've had to disclaim a lot of my posts lately... is it something up with me, or the general atmosphere of these threads? Hmm)

You read your previous post, you said you used a mug from another resort, so as for being wrong you are, Disney says so, thats the owner of the dispensers, so thats good enough for me.
