no more HOB on resturant.com ?

They haven't had the certificates from HOB in Anaheim either for the past few months, so I guess they're done there too.

But if you have an old certificate, they are honoring them and allowing you to use them.

Honestly, it really doesn't suprise me. At least at the Anaheim one. It's pretty busy in the evenings on most nights, so I really don't think they needed the restaurant.com incentive. The other thing is the've really been pushing happy hour and happy hour specials, so it seems they're going that way over the other certificates. However, if they don't get the response that they're looking for or if people stop coming, we may see the certificates come back.

I have brought GC from Restaurant.com for years and they used to be "limited" time but now that they are good forever this will probably become more prevalent. I have had restaurants refuse them if they are no longer participating so it will be interesting to see what HOB does. I have one I bought over a year ago so will call before I go in December to see if they will still accept it.

I have had gc's from other restaurants that were no longer participating. As others have said, there was a note in my restaurant.com account and I could exchange the certificate for another restaurant at face value. HOB does NOT need to honor the gc's if they are no longer participating. It is important to read the gc's, they tell you that the tip is automatically added and any other rules.

I know that the tip is automatically added, even moreso because we're a party of 6, but I felt our server was super sneaky in telling us "to be sure to fill everything out on the receipt" and the line items on the receipt were the total (minus the $50 GC), the suggested 18% and 20% tip amounts, a "TOTAL" section and a signature line. I realize that some restaurant receipts automatically print that way, but as I said before, the WDW servers would go out of their way to point out that the tip had automatically been included and I should disregard that portion. Our server telling us to "be sure to fill everything out on the receipt" was, IMO, an attempt at getting us to leave an extra $14-$15 on top of the $18.xx she already got and left a bad taste in my mouth.

Hmm. Last month, in anticipation of our trip to Chicago, bought a Chicago HOB cert.

Had no problem using it. :thumbsup2

Probably just some HOBs not participating anymore.

I called Disney (after trying HOB all morning) and asked them about it and they called the restaurant while I was on the phone and they said they were still taking it. I wanted to make sure so I called HOB just now and they said they are still accepting them.

Interesting. I emailed restaurant.com to ask about HOB in Orlando accepting them. I bought one of the $50 certificates in February for our trip in December, but after making ADR's and plans there wasn't really any time to squeeze it in. If there was a limited time they would be accepting them I wanted to be sure to use it. However, this is the email I received back from restaurant.com:

I apologize for any inconvenience. It does not appear that they will be accepting. I can issue you an exchange for the certifictae. In order to exchange a gift certificate, a Restaurant.com Customer Service Representative can issue you credit to Restaurant.com in the form of a Restaurant.com eGift Card. Please email me the 8-digit certificate number of the gift certificate you want to exchange. I will then be able to issue you a credit for you to obtain a gift certificate at a different restaurant of your choice. If you received the certificate as a gift, please send me the email address where you would like the credit sent. Otherwise, it will be sent to the original purchaser. If you have any other questions or concerns, please email me so I may further assist you.

I got an update this morning from my contact at Restaurant.com and this one sounds a little more promising:

They are currently working with HOB to re-negotiate their contract. And they think that HOB will, in the meantime, still honor any certificate that was purchased. (Which sounds in line with what the folks above heard when contacting Orlando HOB.)

They're going to keep me in the loop on developments and I'll pass 'em on to you!
