No More ADR's at conflicting times

Wow thats crazy!! I wonder when that is going to start?? It is a good thing and a bad thing. Right now I have two Wishes Dessert Party and two Captains Grille booked the same nights and time because I had to split my party up. I really hope they don't cancel the Wishes Dessert Party, afterall I already paid for it!!

They should cancel any dinner reservations that are for the same meal and for the same number of people because what if you have to split your party up!?

As of last evening when you attempt to book an ADR which conflicts with one you already have booked a message comes up online telling you that you need to cancel the existing ADR before you can complet booking the new one, whereas previously you could opt to keep both.

It also states you can call to book the conflicting reservation, so it would seem if there is a reason you need to keep both say your party of 4 wishes to eat at two different places at or near the same time it can be done'

This IMO is good since I have seen many guest question whether or not their conflicting ADRs might be cancelled and even read of where it happened to some guests. Now it would seem there will be no need to worry since you need to call and talk to a CM

Yeah, but in this era of cell phones who doesn't have that? I have 4 or 5 email addresses I could use and 4 phone numbers (3 cells in our household plus the house phone). Once word starts to get out about this "loophole" - and it will, because the same travel agents and planning web sites that recommended double bookings "for flexibility" will now advise on how to pull it off - this new system will make no difference at all.

Exactly...between DH & I, we have 7 phone numbers if you include work numbers and the number of email addresses one person can have is pretty much limitless.

This is only going to effect the guests staying at a Disney resort in the 180+10 window since you need a resort reservation # to book those extra days. But if someone wants to get around this new check will be able to do so easily.

Interesting... when I checked yesterday, there was no availability for Le Cellier at all during the 6 days we'll be there in August. When I checked today, there were at least 7 different times open now. Still not one for the evening of my anniversary, alas, but I went ahead and booked the one for the evening before. :thumbsup2

But I'm sure an overwhelmingly majority of the culprits doing the multiple-bookings fall into this category. After all, they're the one with access to the most desierd restaurants and times. So it will help. And anything that makes it more difficult to do (to what degree, is obviously very debatable) is a good thing.

If I were Disney I would put into place a system whereby if one did not associate an ADR with an existing room reservation they would need to leave a cc in order to book the ADR with a 2 day cancellation policy such as is the policy when you book Akershus.

That would I am sure cut down on the double bookings with numerous names and cell numbers for all those who want to be able to pick and choose their park and place to eat the day of.

I need to go check , I was thinking of switching our Le Cellier dinner to a lunch but everytime I looked nothing has been available :thumbsup2

I have Brown Derby at 11:30 and Sci Fi at 3 next weekend because I have no idea when the Star Wars parade is and one of those has got to go. I may keep Sci Fi and go to the show I want to see another day (it's been moved from 1:15 to 3:15). But it let me make the BD reservation this morning. So maybe they are too far apart to register.

I think this is a good thing. Since you can call and get the double ADRs needed for large parties or parties wishing to spit up, it's a win all the way around. I know most here on the Dis cancelled unneeded ADRs for the most part, but there are a lot of people who double booked and never cancelled, leaving lots of folks unable to book their favorites. I think it will work to our good for sure.

I think if it is 2+ hours difference it does not register, at least before it seemed to just book the ADR without the old message appearing.

It sure would be nice if Disney could post further in advance about the times for such things as a parade during an event like Star Wars Weekend so anyone attending could plan ahead

Still no lunches available for Le Cellier for my dates would be nice to free up a dining credit but I am happy with dinner and I know DH will enjoy the bigger steak at dinner

The Star Wars info is never released until the weekends start. There's a thread on the Theme Parks board with inside information but they don't have parade times yet, as there will be no parade the first day because of the Star Tours opening ceremony. I am going toward the early lunch at BD but I want to know when the parade is. I only have one Star Wars day when I'm within walking distance at the Dolphin and it would be nice to get all the Star Wars stuff in on one day and not have to go back. If the parade fits with an 11:30 lunch at BD then SciFi isn't needed at all. If it doesn't, I might still cancel SciFi and walk out of the park for lunch or hope to get a bar spot at Prime Time or an earlier "hitchhike" at SciFi. Planning isn't easy when you have to do it...I know to eat in the park at a sit-down it may be necessary to have an ADR.

Dinner's going to be at Flying Fish but not bothering with an ADR as I can sit at the bar. Wish more of the in-park places had bars!

I just checked on a couple of mine that I'm trying to move a bit earlier...the conflicting reservation change hasn't affected the availability for either of them (Yachtsman & Cali Grill). If I can't change them I'm fine with what I have, but I thought something might finally open up.

I would think the system would see that as two totally separate meals. Perhaps allowing for someone inexperienced making ADRs too close together. I wonder what the window of leeway is.

That's a difference between 11:30 and 3 of 3.5 hours, so we know the window is less than that. I'm betting it's either 2 hours or 3 hours.

I think its around 2 hours, cause I was changing from 6 to around 8 for one meal before it changed and it had the pop up aking if I wanted to cancel one of keep both.

I like that they are doing this. I am curious though why suddenly a bunch showed up today - because a lot of ADR times suddenly opened up! Did they do some sort of sweep on previous reservations and just cancel them? I just can't imagine them doing that or at least without warning to the people that had the ADR. :confused3

So happy with this. There were so many reports of people double booking; either for two different restaurants in one park because they weren't sure where they would want to eat or one restaurant in two different parks because they weren't sure what park they were going to be at. Now, it seems they (WDW) have closed the loophole.

Makes me wonder too. I suspose they could have set up a program that would do that but I do not think it would have been fair without some warning beforehand to give guest time to cancel on their own.

Sure if that happened we should be hearing crys of Disney cancelled my ADRs soon.

The ones that got to me were when they said they had multiple ADR for the same restaurant for the same day, such as "Ohana for 5:00, and 5:30 and 6:00 cause they did not know when they would want to eat. To me that is just crazy since it is not a true reservation just a place in line for the "next available table" you are almost always afford a wait of 10 mins or more, sometimes a lot longer.

I am so pleased Disney has finally stepped in and stopped the double (triple etc) booking by totally self-focused individuals. When one person has multiple reservations someone else has none, and it makes me crazy.
BUT
It won't take long until those who are so selfish they must have their own way start posting what all the work arounds are.
I hope the DIS will adhere to their policy of not allowing posts of ways around Disneys policies.
