No More ADR's at conflicting times

I have to admit, I too am very glad Disney did this. It's difficult enought to make ADR's 180 days out, but to have to compete with someone who "just doesn't know where they'll want to eat, so they make a bunch at different places for lunch" is really just rude to other guests. At least this way, it's fair for everyone.

I hate reading threads where someone is so proud of the fact that they "beat the system" and booked 3 and 4 different places in different parks because they "don't know where they'll be that day " and "don't want to really commit to a park". And on top of it, they don't even cancel the ADR's they don't want. Wow, sorry for going off on that tear there....:lmao:

I, for one, say GO DISNEY!!! :cheer2:

I am so pleased Disney has finally stepped in and stopped the double (triple etc) booking by totally self-focused individuals. When one person has multiple reservations someone else has none, and it makes me crazy.
BUT
It won't take long until those who are so selfish they must have their own way start posting what all the work arounds are.
I hope the DIS will adhere to their policy of not allowing posts of ways around Disneys policies.

I totally totally agree. This has irritated me to the point that I was actually begining to wish disney would shut down the online reservation system all together. Having more than one reservation at a given time is not very Disney like IMO.

Wow I'm going to try to get some reservations now. We are doing the QSDP at POP. But if I know can get some stuff I have been wanting we may just upgrade to a moderate!!! I tried when FD was re-released and was having troubles. So we figured we would just stick with a value and the QSDP.

Eek, I hope they haven't done a sweep of my adrs! I have four nights that my party is splitting up. Same time, different restaurant and same restaurant but a few hours apart! I wonder if I could call I there is a way to make sure they can be flagged as legitimate?!

Was just able to score an 'Ohana for my last-minute trip next month :thumbsup2 Had been trying every day for weeks.

This was not a problem for us when I made ADRs for our last trip a couple of weeks ago. Anytime I wanted to change a reservation, a pop up would show and say that I already had a dining reservation for that time frame. I'd have to cancel the previous reservation before I could make the new one. This happened for any reservation that I changed from about the end of March right up until our trip on April 24.
I too am glad this change has been made. For the previous poster that had to make multiple reservations, I'd call Disney dining to explain.

If I were Disney I would put into place a system whereby if one did not associate an ADR with an existing room reservation they would need to leave a cc in order to book the ADR with a 2 day cancellation policy such as is the policy when you book Akershus.

That would I am sure cut down on the double bookings with numerous names and cell numbers for all those who want to be able to pick and choose their park and place to eat the day of.

I agree...a CC hold is really the only thing that would deter people from making multiple reservations. I don't know very many (if any!) people who only have one phone number and one e-mail address,

For those that are legitimately breaking up, you can make the reservations by calling Disney Dining. They no longer allow you do double book online though.

Looks like it was a big enough problem for Disney to finally do something about it, and it still allows for legitimate double bookings. Sounds pretty fair to me.

There was a place you could've clicked to keep both.

So glad they did this. I have been trying to move my Le Cellier ADR for a couple months now with no luck. Today I was able to get a choice of my day and time for each day of my trip and booked the new one on an ideal day. YAY!
I was also able to cancel my 8:30 Ohana one day and get a 6:50 instead

I still haven't been able to move my Le Cellier but was able to move 'Ohana. Seemed that 'Ohana times really opened up! :thumbsup2

It looks like the conflicting times are under 1 1/2 hours. I just moved Cape May to 5:30 on a night I had Narcoosee's booked for 7:10 pm and it let me book without any warnings.

It's about time! I'm so tired of hearing people at work telling me "I don't know which park we'll be in, so I made a dinner reservation each night in each park. My travel agent told me to do it that way." So I'm thrilled to hear that isn't allowed anymore and hopefully the TAs who have been suggesting that figure out quickly that it's not allowed anymore.

I also agree that this is a great thing that they have done!

My family chose to do the DxDP since we have a 2 yr old who is used to 3 meals a day +2 snacks and wanted to keep her schedule as similar as we could. We have decided to do 3 TS meals a day(I know its a lot of food), so we have 3 ADR's (or more with Wishes Dessert Party) per day for our vacation. I did things the unselfish way, I joined touring plans, checked out the crowd levels for our week and chose a park for each day. I was able to get pretty much every reservation I wanted and didn't hold up someone else from getting the ressie they wanted.

They created this system to help people score tables at places without having to be turned away, and people took advantage.

I have a colleague there now. He purchased DxDP and was telling me about a week and a half ago that he was trying to make reservations (I just bit my tongue about waiting until the last second to start) and he couldn't find anywhere to eat. He had all these credits and no availability! Maybe some things will have opened up for him now.

I noticed the change in the online system when I made my final (I mean it) reservation change the other day. The funny thing is, I originally was going to make a Tuesday ADR, but decided to go on Wednesday instead. When I booked the Wednesday ADR, it showed that I had a conflicting reservation FOR THE SAME RESTAURANT AND TIME!!! I had accidentally made my ADR for the wrong day, which turned out to be the right day after I changed my mind.

Exactly...between DH & I, we have 7 phone numbers if you include work numbers and the number of email addresses one person can have is pretty much limitless.

This is only going to effect the guests staying at a Disney resort in the 180+10 window since you need a resort reservation # to book those extra days. But if someone wants to get around this new check will be able to do so easily.

FTR I am one who doesn't believe in booking a bunch of things for the same time... I think that's just not very nice for everyone else, but the last time we went, we were in the 180+10 resort guest category. I booked every dining reservation we had online, and I never once was asked for my reservation #. I thought it was weird, but it happened.:confused3

We have a party of 23 people and made 3 ADRs for the same restaurant, same time for parties of 8,8, and 7. This was before the change, but all under one name. The system asked if we still wanted to keep the overlapping ressie and we clicked yes. They wouldn't just cancel them, right? We did this much in advance to be sure we were accommodated.
