Although my TA confirmed we are scheduled for Magic Express, we never received our luggage tags. Since we are 3 days out, I'm guessing they won't get here in time. TA said I could either claim my own bags or describe them to the CM at the ME terminal and they'd go find them. I think I'd feel more comfortable claiming my own bags and bringing them to the ME checkin, but how much time is this going to add? Will they automatically be put on my same bus then? I'm wondering if I can get them right off the bus at the resort?

Well, you could try calling DME and ask about the tags. we did the same last trip and had them couriered to us in 2 days.

If they don't arrive, just claim them at the baggage carousel and bring them to the magical Express counter. You can then have them loaded onto your own bus. This is a + as you'll have instant access to all your stuff right away when you check in and your room is ready. You might also want to consider tipping the bus driver for handling your bags for you though - common courtesy! If your room is not ready, them will hold them for you at the resort and you'll then be free to visit the parks ASAP.

getting your bags and bringing them to the bus will likely add about 30 minutes - but we've had to wait almost that long to have the bus loaded up anyways - so you'll likely not experience any - difference in check-in time.

Just my experience anyways....

It adds the time waiting for the bags at baggage claim and then putting the items into storage if your room isn't waiting.

Last trip our tags never came but I showed the claim tags to the desk and they got to my room fine.

I have let DME deliver my bags without the tags and it went fine. I put the same bright colored ribbon on each bag and brought a sample when I checked in to describe my bags.

If you prefer to pick up your own bags then you will have to go claim them at the carosel and bring them to DME yourself. The driver will load them under the bus and then retreive them for you at the resort. He will expect a tip for handling your bags - as well bell services at the resort esp if they have to be held and brought up to your room later.

It depends on the airline how much longer it will take, I find some airlines much quicker at getting the bags unloaded than others.

OT a little but my main concern in your position would be why you did not get the tags. Some travel agents have neglected to actually make the DME reservation assuming its automatic. While DME is complimentary to every resort guest a reservation must be made in advance. If you show up to the DME counter without a reservation you will not be able to use the service and will have to arrange alternate transportation. I would recommend calling the TA and maybe DME to make sure you actually have a reservation (if you haven't already!)

We aren't using the DME because we are renting a car at the airport but we did recieve what looks like 2 light blue luggage tags with our packet that came in the mail. Should we have recieved them? Should we have recieved 2 each for a total of 4 for my wife or I or did we get the 2 by mistake. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

On the 2 tags it says "What will you celebrate?" also there is a picture of the castle on them.

Why did we get these?

Those are just regular "decorative" luggage tags to identy your bags in case the airline looses/misdirects your bags. They have nothing to do with DME but are a perk of booking a WDW package. Last trip we got those as well as the DME information and luggage tags. You can use them on your luggage and they will not be pulled behind the scenes and delivered to the resort. The DME tags are bright yellow and look more like the ones the airlines use with barcodes etc.

Did you get any ME information? You should have received a packet with all of your flight information and luggage tags.

Definintely confirm your ME ressie.:)

I would not plan on describing my bags to the CM. There are going to be identical sets of luggage at any airport. If you do that, I would suggest putting on a long thick yellow ribbon through the handle. Use a Sharpie to write "Please take me to ?. My name is ?" Then tell the CM what to look for.

What do you mean by confirming your ME ressie. Should you call Disney up a day or two before your arrival date?

If you did not receive your ME documents and luggage tags (like the OP)...then yes.... I would absolutely call. If you have all your paperwork....no worries.:)

I would definitely call. I would also handle my own luggage and get it to the ME bus if the tags do not arrive in time. Don't depend on someone else with a luggage description.

We have been using ME every year since it was available. Last year I noticed our tags did not arrive and we were 2 weeks out. I called and they sent them out.

Now this trip, we are leaving in about 2 weeks and no luggage tags. I called Disney today. They said they have all the flight info and do not know why I did not receive my tags. They said the ME tags are usually sent out about 30 days in advance. I am going to file that fact in my head right now for the future.

Anyhow, Disney suggested I call ME directly. They gave me the number and when I talked to ME today, they said they see my reservation in the computer along with my flight info, but ME NEVER RECEIVED MY ME REQUEST FROM DISNEY. Lucky thing I called!

I was able to set up ME right then on the phone, very easily. They said to expect the tags in about 6 days. Whew!

Now I knew I could claim my own luggage and go through that whole scene, but it is so nice to have ME do this for me. We really love ME, but you need to call them if you do not have your tags just after the 30 day mark.

Your Disney’s Magical Express reservation has been made; however, you may not receive your Disney’s Magical
Express booklet with luggage tags prior to departure for Orlando. Please be assured that you will still be able to
utilize the service and receive the same seamless experience.
Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, you have two options:
1) You can pick up your luggage at baggage claim and proceed directly to the Disney
Welcome Center. You will be responsible for taking your luggage with you on the
motor coach.
2) Or you may proceed directly to the Disney Welcome Center. You do not need to claim
your luggage. Disney will gather all of your information and collect your luggage for
you and then deliver it to your resort room.
IMPORTANT: Please pack any valuables, medications or anything needed immediately upon arrival into Orlando in
a carry-on bag.
Arrival at Orlando International Airport. Upon arrival, please take the tram from your gate to the main Terminal

You may follow the airport signs to Ground Transportation.
At the Disney Welcome Center, please present your airline baggage claim checks to the Disney representative

complimentary motor coach that will take you to your resort. Your motor coach may make up to 3 stops before
arriving at your resort.
Luggage delivery to the resort. Your luggage will be claimed at the airport and delivered to your room. Your
luggage may take up to 3 hours after you check-in to be delivered. You do not need to be in your room to receive
