No longer selling discounted tickets after 9/15 - Why?

The assumption is that third party ticket discounts are all going away, but of course Disney is saying nothing. As far as Disney discounting tickets directly, they do have 'offers' from time to time but nothing on a regular basis. The 'gate price' and the 'online price' direct from Disney are the same, at least as of right now. What happens after the 15th is anyone's guess.

Thanks for this information. :)

Quick question about The Employee Network tickets. A friend of mine has this and said he could get tickets for me, but he's never used it and I'm curious as to whether you have to show a membership card or anything when you get to the gate. He said that it goes directly to the DL ticket website, so I'm guessing no. But I don't want to buy them and then not be able to use them when we get there since he won't be with us. Thanks!

No you dont show anything when you get to the gate as far as membership card goes. Just print out the ticket and you're good to go.

Tickets purchased through them USED TO have names printed on them but not recently. They're actually done through the Disneyland website, but accessed through the Employee Network link so the discount is built in. I have never been asked to show ID at the gates and I've been getting tickets through them for myself and for my family for a few years now.

Based on the advice from the DIS, I called LMT (Last Minute Travel) today and ordered a 5-day park hopper for my mother-in-law (we have APs) as it was not accessible on the website. It was $281.97, or $53 less than direct from Disney and $31 less than the next available discounter. I received an email while on the phone and expect a voucher within 48 hrs. The voucher can be redeemed at the gate! Thanks for the advice as the savings always helps.

Lmt is asking for my dates. Only listing September and my dates are April. How does that work??

Has anyone confirmed if LMT will no longer have discounted tickets after 9/15? I'm not seeing anything on Working Advantage (through the union) that the discount is going away. It doesn't mean that it isn't just trying to find out for sure.

The person on the phone today at LMT seemed to know about the September 15th discount discontinuation issue, but said they were not affected yet (but who knows?). I called early just to be safe as I was also worried that they too would be shut out on the 15th!

He did ask for my dates for the pass. I assume that this has to do with limits of available passes allocated to them by Disney for a given period of time. Mine are in October and they didn't have a problem with my dates.

From what I've seen in this thread, the tickets being issued recently from LMTC have been good until Dec. 2017.

I'm about to buy a set of four 5-day passes for use in February. I'll just pick a random date in Sept. from their listing.

Fingers crossed - it could be an expensive gamble. :crazy2:

I bought my ticket August 14 (soon after this thread got started); got it via email August 24(!) and it says first use needs to be by December 31, 2017. I did say I would be traveling in November, which I am. As an aside, I found how to change dates to be very confusing at first, I had to click around some.

So is Last Minute Travel the best deal for tickets now? I'm ready to buy our park hoppers for our November trip. I haven't used them before. Do they have a website?

Why would you do that? Just call and talk about your actual dates,it's pretty simple and you don't feel like you're gambling

LMTClub told me their discount is based on the pricing for travel agents (I assume this means what a TA pays with a professional discount?) rather than 'discount' tickets. She didn't think they'd be affected, but of course couldn't make promises.

It might even be something as simple as before the Internet, they didn't have the capacity to sell all the tickets directly, so they went through wholesalers. But now that they have the capacity and enough experience to trust it, they're happier selling direct and cutting out the middlemen. It may enable them to have more complicated pricing schemes, but that's just one of the benefits they get. They also get customer addresses, more detailed sales data, etc.

These discounts weren't just for wholesalers. The corporate/alumni discounts were direct link from their secure (employee or alumni websites) directly to Disney's ticketing site. They were already getting all of the customer info and data, not losing any money from anyone else getting a cut of the sale. What they didn't have control of was when you used the tickets since you didn't have to enter specific dates for your trip. Which sounds to me like they are setting themselves up to control what everyone pays on a given day regardless of what type of ticket is being purchased.

It was essentially a 10% discount off the ticket. They could go to tiered pricing and require dates to be entered at purchase, but still give the percentage off of total price when paying without it being anymore complicated than before. They could even offer a different percentage off depending on how many peak vs regular days were part of your ticket without it being that complicated. Since they didn't change it and are taking them away, I am not that optimistic that they plan on bringing this type of discount back at all... :(

This was there "Corporate Discount Program" that is specifically being discontinued. Travel Agencies get their discounts differently from what I understand which is why LMT is saying they aren't being affected by the change. The same goes for GetAwayToday which also offers ticket only packages and they have commented places that they aren't affected by this particular change. That doesn't mean that won't change eventually if tiered pricing becomes the norm for all tickets. They might have to start getting specific dates like you would with a hotel + ticket package so the tiered pricing can be applied even to their ticket prices.

It's Last Minute Travel Club, specifically. Website is https://www.lmtclub.com/secure/PageRegistration.aspx. To order online you need to be a part of their "club," which is $50 but there are usually codes for free membership.

Or, you can go to http://www.lastminutetravel.com/ and start a live chat with an agent who will call you. You don't need to be a member of the club to order tickets over the phone.

ETA to add that yes, after extensive searching, LMTC is offering the lowest ticket prices by far. I'm saving $50 off Disney's prices for two two-day base tickets. They were about $30 lower than any other discounter I could find, too.

Yep. They already have advance purchase tiered tickets at a discount at Disneyland Paris. You can buy online a MINI, MAGIC, or SUPER MAGIC ticket, corresponding to low, normal, or high season. The web site tells you what dates each is good for. If you decide to go on a higher tier day, you simply buy an upgrade at the park. Simple and easy. There's no reason they couldn't do it at DLR; it appears that they don't want to.

Yes, it's like that with USH tickets on LMTClub--weekend tickets are more expensive than weekday tickets.

I just pulled the trigger today and bought our 5-day park hoppers through Last Minute Travel. Adult tickets (we needed 4) were $281.97 at LMT (compared to $335 on DL website) and child tickets (we needed two) were $269.37 at LMT (compared to $320 on DL website). So instead of paying a grand total of $1,980 I paid $1,666.56. :yay::yay:

I was so glad you posted what you paid so that I wasn't worried about getting just as good a price when I called today. Thanks!

They just want to know if there will be enough time to get the tickets to you. I said I wasn't sure when we'd be entering the parks but that it would be more than 30 days and that was enough info for him. I didn't have to give any more info about what days we'd be going.

I asked for verification of this when I ordered mine today, and yes, they are good until Dec 31, 2017.

I couldn't find a code that wiped out the whole $50 ($25 off was the best I could find) so I called the 888 number instead of joining the club and that worked for me.

Well, it's now 9/16. Just to update, the discount offered by Golden1 Credit Union is gone. Instead is a link to 'getaway today' which offers a very limited discount. The price for a 2 day hopper was discounted by $2.00 ($233.00). There was a 'discount code' posted to the G1 website, but when I added it to the cart, it said it wasn't valid.

On the upside, the discounts offered by LMTClub have not changed as of right now.

Tickets at work no longer has Disneyland tickets for sale but it does say new ticket offerings are coming soon. It will be interesting to see what the offerings end up being.

I usually buy through Abenity which sponsors our school Gold Card fundraiser. It was a 10% discount which was huge when you buy several tickets for a big trip. I just looked and there is no longer tickets available.
