Welcome all! I would like to invite you along for the ride as I plan my Disney Fairytale Wedding! So, hang onto your hats and glasses, folks, cause this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!
Sorry, I just couldn't stop myself. But seriously, it is a little bit of a wild ride. Here's the story...
Us: Steve and I met 8 years ago. We had gone to high school together and never knew each other (he is 2 years older than me.) After I graduated from college a mutual friend introduced us. The problem was that Steve had just returned from Iraq and was stationed in Washington; I was 3,000 miles away in NY. So with neither one of us foreseeing a move, we chocked it up to bad timing.
We kept in touch over the years; Steve was discharged from the Army and found a really great job in WA, I began my career in NY. Fast forward 7 years later Steve returns to NY for a visit and a part of me knew I had to make time to see him. And the rest is history.
Well, almost...We spent last year traveling back and forth. I flew a lot of miles in 2011! We knew someone had to move, and after discussing and outlining everything (I'm a big planner) we decided that it made more sense for me to move to WA. So, after Christmas I packed a moving van and boarded my one way jet to Seattle. He totally came into my life and turned it upside down, and I've loved every second of it!
The proposal: I have to admit, I knew it was coming I just didn't know when. So to throw me off completely, Steve decides to propose on HIS birthday. It was a surprise! We had run out to the store and when I came in I went to let our little puppy girl out of her crate (Chloe, more on her later.) So I go over to Chloe and right on top of her crate was a ring box and Steve said that the best birthday present would be for me to say yes. Naturally I did!
Plans: We will be having an Escape wedding, keeping our guest list intimate. As it stands we will be having our ceremony on 1/25/13 at Sea Breeze Point at the Board Walk. Afterwards we're going to have a cocktail hour (hopefully in the Marvin Gardens room at the BoardWalk) followed by dinner reservations at the Yachtsman. Concluding our evening will be an Illuminations Dessert Party. I have to admit I am the most excited about this!! I cannot book until 5/25 (8 months out) however I have had the initial conversations with a Disney wedding planner and the dates are good.
With only 9 months to go (almost exactly to the day) there isn't much time however I'm pretty organized and I'm not really worried. My parents are visiting at the end of May and mom and I will go dress shopping then. I have started the conversations with Larisa from Moya Lara on invitations and programs. We're going to splurge since we don't have a large guest list, plus their invitations are beautiful!!
I was going to wait until we booked everything, but I am just so darn excited I couldn't wait!! I LOVE Disney! I was just there in February and I'm itching to go back. Steve is down there often for business, so I think I'm going to piggyback on a trip ASAP!
