D23 expo Tokyo starts today. Will be interesting to see if anything is said about the US parks. Last time details on avatar were released at the event.

There was no clock in our BWI room last month...and a clunky power strip was on the night stand. Glad I have an alarm clock on my cell phone.

Well I think many would disagree that every Disney restaurant is bland.

If we're talking food then I actually think it's fair to say that the majority of Disney restaurants are deliberately... maybe bland is too harsh... safe?

They do american standards or maybe american standards with just a slight bit of flavoring.

You don't for example see a Vietnamese restaurant at Disney selling Pho do you?

I really like having the alarm clock as backup. Last trip, we all slept through DH's cell phone alarm and got to MK 7am EMH late:( I could sleep through an earthquake, really I have. I might have to bring ours from home.

You may be able to request one from the lobby. Or a wake-up call? (Because who doesn't want Mickey and his pals calling to wake them up ::yes::)

Yeah - just use a wake-up call. You won't sleep through that phone ringing.

Bland isn't too harsh, it's correct. People still line up for it, so there's a market for bland, no doubt about it.

I've never had a problem with the food at WDW. They are catering to what the majority of people like. You aren't going to see anything too far off the beaten path or trendy because it simply wouldn't sell well enough. The non-disney-owned smaller venders have to pay a great deal of money to be there. They in particular are not going to sell something that only appeals to a limited audience. They need to do volume to survive. Boardwalk Fries from Maryland was there in the 90s and got outbid for their location by McDonald's. McDonald's could afford to pay more because of their far wider appeal.

This is fairly big news. It's a humiliation to OLC and WDP&R. While between Tokyo Disney Sea and their MK they're still ahead total (by around double), the fact that the crown jewel of Disney's Asian theme park operations is potentially being surpassed by this more ambitious upstart is a blow. It goes to show Disney's Orlando Parks aren't as safe as some like to think.

Our MK remains the world's top theme park though. This is also for only one month, this could be a blip on the radar. Or it could be more...

Well Universal Japan thinks they had higher attendance but they don't know. And it was during the month of their most popular event of the year so it is possible. I am assuming that like over here that Horror Nights is a separate ticket event so I wonder how that effected the count.

on down the page of that link it says the alarm clocks are available at the front desk.

I'd be more worried if yearly numbers show otherwise. As of right now I think OLC is fine. However many believe Tokyo Disneyland is in fact ahead of MK despite TEA numbers.
