Disney is going to start at select locations to let guests purchase standard magic bands without linking of a ticket. Special edition or themed magic bands will still need a ticket to be linked. This is expected to expand after this "test".

I don't get the angle of this move...

Are they "fashion accessories" now?

So I still can't buy an Olaf one for someone who isn't traveling with a ticket? Just a standard one. (That I get for free staying onsite ?)

Yeah... Don't get it either.

What's the angle?
They're testing to see if an orange Mickey band becomes the jelly bracelet of middle school girls in Kansas?

I'm thinking they want to prevent people from buying a bunch of the limited bands and then reselling them for a profit.

Agree...

But why sell the generic ones?

Unless...this is yet another attempt to see if they can "slap a label on a bucket of goo" and sell it?
Like harambe nights and the ultimate thrillseeker tour...

With all the little pips and sliders? It's pins and Vinylmation all over again.

I have little doubt that they've had people attempting to buy bands but (for whatever reason) don't want to link to their tickets.

They are "fashion accessories" now.

FYP You do get it.

I might be interested in two accessories.

Some kind of RIFD blocking bracelet I put over my magic bracelet when I don't want to be tracked.

A combination Disney watch/ magic bracelet.

The Spirit from wdwmagic a trusted source has now said Frozen is coming to Disney parks across the globe and its going to be fast. WDW will be getting frozen in maelstrom and some frozen in DHS. DCA will be getting frozen, along with Hong Kong and Paris. Tokyo will probably get some frozen but theirs will be the best because the oriental company doesn't do cheap things. As for the rest of the parks it will all be coming very fast and will be attractions, shows, and meet and greet sing along type stuff.
WDW will get frozen in maelstrom starting next month.
Then Hong Kong and DCA will be rushed to bring frozen there as well.
Paris after them. No word on Shanghai.

It was also reported a bus full of executives was seen at DHS including Tom Staggs, this is supposed to be related to this.

Also here is a good video from Jeff and Denise at Mousesteps that shows the new boat dock and walkway to saratoga springs that recently opened.

Also during the boat ride the driver talks about the renovations and says the first garage should open around christmas time. He also talks about how Pleasure Island will become The Landing and the new Boathouse restaurant is under construction.

Anyone know if the new Boat House restaurant will open fall 2014.

Unlikely...

They would have to have it open by about October 1st for it to be possible before the holidays...

And that isn't even a slow time anymore.

More likely January or later

Irresponsible rumor mill again.... Now based on every actual move for the last 10 years... Why?....dear god why?... Would they build a "new, huge resort" in that area? There at about 80% occupancy (much higher around 2000...I can verify as a fact)... So seriously...can't bloggers switch the common sense filter on every now and then?
could be DVC given they might look into stand alone DVD resorts given the poly is the last deluxe filling the DVC void

welcome back :cool2:

the current rumor is that they are looking at conversion of existing inventory starting at wilderness lodge and then perhaps beach club and the moon from there...

apparently, there is a problem with filling "deluxe" rooms (can't imagine why...:scratchin )...and the logical operations/logistics/accounting move would be to convert into no risk dvc and shrink the "deluxe" inventory to the market size.

Disney is even looking into moderates supposedly...

thanks it's good to be back

Honestly if that's there new DVC strategy it makes sense. Eisner built atleast one too many hotels back in the day so it would make sense to them in a business sense in multiple ways. But I still think eventually they're going to have to go with standalones. If their new strategy however is to add DVC to moderates like the next poster said, then I have no problem saying that that's one really stupid idea
